Francis Ngannou’s Inactivity Prompts MMA Analyst To Urge PFL To Scrap Heavyweight Division

Francis Ngannou’s inactivity compels an MMA analyst to advise PFL for drastic measures with the heavyweight division.

“The Predator” inked his deal with PFL in May 2023, securing several exclusive perks, including being named chairman of PFL Africa with the responsibility of spearheading MMA’s growth across the continent. However, when PFL Africa finally launched with a sold-out debut in Cape Town this July, Ngannou was conspicuously absent.

Francis Ngannou’s absence from the Cape Town debut didn’t sit well with PFL chairman Donn Davis, who openly voiced his disappointment over the Cameroonian’s no-show at such a landmark event.

John McCarthy Suggests PFL Should Shut Down Heavyweight Division With Francis Ngannou On Sidelines

During a recent episode of the Weighing In podcast alongside former UFC fighter Josh Thomson, “Big” John McCarthy criticized Francis Ngannou for failing to live up to his PFL deal, pointing out that “The Predator” has fought just once in the past two years.

With Ngannou stuck on the sidelines, the veteran MMA analyst argued that the PFL heavyweight division lacks the depth to justify its existence and suggested the promotion should instead invest its resources into other weight classes.

“It’s a glamour division with no talent,” McCarthy said. “Let’s just be honest, OK? Why do you have it? You have the ability to put in a flyweight division. You finally put in the bantamweights: Way to go. That was a smart thing. You’ve got some really good, talented people in that. Open up the 125-pound division. Take the heavyweights, get rid of it.

“Be honest, (the UFC’s) whole (heavyweight) lineup, it’s just not that good. You can take a look at the PFL’s lineup. Yes, Francis is a good fighter… Get rid of it. All it does is cost you way more money than it’s worth for your promotion. Get rid of the heavyweights, put in all the other weight classes. Have 125, ’35, ’45, ’55 – you’ll have it all the way to 205. You don’t need the heavyweights because they’re not doing anything for you, and Francis is not doing anything as far as what he was supposedly contracted for.”

Francis Ngannou’s lone outing inside the SmartCage came at PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants in October 2024, where he stopped Renan Ferreira via first-round TKO to capture the PFL super heavyweight title.

Since parting ways with the UFC, however, “The Predator” has shifted his focus to boxing, suffering back-to-back defeats in high-profile bouts against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Joe Rogan Wonders How Khamzat Chimaev’s Cardio Will Fare Against Dricus Du Plessis At UFC 319

Joe Rogan is skeptical about Khamzat Chimaev’s endurance.

Chimaev is locked in to headline UFC 319 this Saturday at the United Center in Chicago, where he will challenge reigning middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis for the title.

Although “Borz” remains undefeated in his professional career, he has only gone the distance twice in the UFC. In both bouts, Chimaev faced significant challenges, and as the fights progressed into the later rounds, he appeared to fade, raising questions about the durability of his cardio.

Joe Rogan Questions Whether Khamzat Chimaev Can Last Against Dricus Du Plessis

During a recent episode of his JRE MMA Show, Joe Rogan shared his insights on the highly anticipated clash between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. The veteran commentator also discussed the undefeated Russian’s preparation for UFC 319, discussing whether “Borz” has made any gains in endurance while training with renowned conditioning coach Sam Calavitta.

“What’s going to be interesting is if it gets into deep water, because I know he started training with Calvita—for his conditioning,” Rogan said. “He went to Sam Calvita who trained TJ Dillashaw, works with Aaron Pico, Arman Tsarukyan’s doing it with him, too. And that guy is a legend, man… He’s using real science to do it. This is the first time he’s ever been through a camp like this where he’s coming in fresh, where he’s not overtrained.”

Rogan also questioned how Khamzat Chimaev’s cardio would hold up in championship rounds, warning that Du Plessis could become a serious threat late in the fight.

“That’s the question—is can he sprint for five rounds? ‘Cause we know DDP can. Him and Sean Strickland, they were ready to have heart attacks at the end of that fight. Getting his nose busted like that and still staying and fighting with staph. He had staph. He had staph through the second fight. That’s why he was listless. He was on antibiotics and everything. He was all messed up.”

“Borz” enters UFC 319 riding a first-round submission win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 in October of last year. Chimaev currently holds a perfect 14-0 professional record, with 12 victories coming by stoppage.

How Does Patricio Pitbull’s Record Compare To Losene Keita’s Ahead Of UFC Paris?

Patricio Pitbull kicked off his UFC journey earlier this year at UFC 314, facing former interim featherweight champion and suffering a one-sided unanimous decision loss. The former Bellator two division titleholder bounced back at UFC 318 last month, reclaiming victory with a hard-fought decision over Dan Ige.

Pitbull boasts a professional MMA record of 37-8, with an impressive 24 of those victories earned via stoppage.

Meanwhile, Losene Keita, who officially signed a UFC contract on Friday, is a two-division champion in OKTAGON. “Black Panther” enters UFC Paris on a five-fight winning streak, having last competed at OKTAGON 65 in December 2024, where he secured a second-round TKO over Ronald Paradeiser to successfully defend his lightweight title.

Joe Rogan Hopes UFC Maintains ESPN Ties Despite Historic Paramount+ Agreement

Joe Rogan hopes UFC’s latest deal won’t sever ties with its longtime partner.

The UFC’s exclusive five-year rights agreement with ESPN is set to conclude at the close of 2025. The promotion has already locked in its next landmark deal with a seven-year, $7.7 billion U.S. broadcasting partnership with Paramount Skydance Corporation.

During its partnership with the UFC, ESPN showcased the promotion’s full slate of events across both its television network and the ESPN+ streaming platform, while holding exclusive rights to distribute pay-per-views.

The sports media powerhouse also delivered extensive UFC coverage and featured several former fighters as analysts and commentators. However, with the UFC now shifting to a new broadcast home, questions remain about how ESPN’s role in covering the sport will evolve moving forward.

Joe Rogan Wants UFC To Keep ESPN Association Despite Paramount+ Switch In 2026

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the veteran UFC commentator weighed in on the promotion’s new broadcasting deal with Paramount+. While Joe Rogan voiced his enthusiasm for the partnership set to kick off next year, he also admitted he hopes the UFC won’t sever its relationship with ESPN, which he sees as a crucial bridge to casual sports fans.

The 58-year-old acclaimed podcaster emphasized that ESPN remains a vital gateway for introducing new audiences to the world of MMA.

“I’m kind of bummed out, and I hope they don’t lose the relationship that they had with ESPN with all their MMA shows,” Joe Rogan said. “I hope they don’t go, like, ‘F**k them. They went to Paramount.’ I hope it’s a mutually beneficial thing, like the UFC at least does some content still on ESPN, because I think that’s also a big factor in pulling people from casual viewers that watch other sports that might occasionally watch a UFC fight and then they see, like, Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway and they’re like, ‘Holy sh*t.’

“And then they’re hooked. Having that coverage on SportsCenter, that shit’s huge. Having those post-fight shows on ESPN+, that sh*t is huge for the real dorks like me, that’s huge.”

As part of the new agreement, Paramount+ will become the primary U.S. destination for all 13 numbered UFC pay-per-view cards and 30 Fight Night events annually. Every fight will stream live on the platform, while select high-profile cards will also receive a primetime broadcast on Paramount’s flagship network, CBS.

The UFC will also move away from its long-standing pay-per-view model, making every event accessible to Paramount+ subscribers. However, UFC CEO Dana White has hinted that the promotion may roll out special “one-off” PPV cards on rare occasions.

Joe Rogan Predicts UFC’s $7.7 Billion Paramount Plus Deal Will Send MMA ‘Through The Roof’

Joe Rogan is bullish on the UFC’s new broadcast deal.

The UFC’s exclusive five-year rights deal with ESPN will wrap up at the end of 2025, and the promotion has already lined up its next historic chapter with a seven-year, $7.7 billion U.S. broadcasting partnership with Paramount Skydance Corporation.

Paramount+ will serve as the premier U.S. home for all 13 marquee numbered UFC cards and 30 Fight Night events each year. Every bout will stream on the platform, with select blockbuster cards also airing simultaneously on Paramount’s flagship network, CBS.

The biggest shake-up for fans sees the UFC abandoning the traditional pay-per-view model, putting every event within reach for Paramount+ subscribers. In the U.S., plans range from $7.99 to $12.99 a month for the ad-free tier that also includes Showtime. Still, UFC CEO Dana White has teased the possibility of occasional “one-off” pay-per-view events.

Joe Rogan Sees UFC-Paramount+ Move As A Massive Win For MMA Fans

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the long-time UFC commentator shared his take on the promotion’s blockbuster deal with Paramount+. Rogan believes replacing the conventional pay-per-view model with an all-access streaming approach could be a game-changer, drawing in a wave of new fans and expanding the reach of MMA to a broader, more diverse audience than ever before.

“Through the roof,” Joe Rogan said. “And it’s a super smart move for Paramount. What a great move to not just have the UFC for seven years, but to have it for free. How much does it cost a month? Ten bucks, let’s say it’s ten bucks. That’s crazy. That’s a $120 a year, you can watch every UFC pay-per-view? Two UFC pay-per-views is, like, 140 bucks, right? Isn’t it? Aren’t they, like, $70? So you get all of them. Everything’s free? That’s incredible. This sport is going to go f**king hypernova.”

Joe Rogan, who first joined the UFC in 1997 as a backstage interviewer at UFC 12, has witnessed the promotion’s evolution through every major broadcast era, from Spike TV to FOX to ESPN.

Now, as Dana White confirmed, the 58-year-old MMA mainstay isn’t going anywhere; Rogan will be front and center as the UFC enters its new chapter with Paramount.

  • Dricus Du Plessis Wonders How Khamzat Chimaev Will Cope With His First Career Loss After UFC 319

Dricus Du Plessis is curious how Khamzat Chimaev will react to his first loss.

“Stillknocks” is set to make his third middleweight title defense against Chimaev in the UFC 319 main event this Saturday, August 16, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Du Plessis enters this fight riding an impressive 11-fight win streak, nine of which have come inside the UFC. The South African has only suffered defeat twice in his career, but those losses taught him hard lessons and fueled the confidence he carries into this weekend’s bout.

On the other hand, Chimaev has faced challenges in a few UFC bouts but remains unbeaten across his 14 professional fights. “Borz’s” perfect record has reinforced his mindset, giving him the belief he needs to dethrone “Stillknocks” at UFC 319.

However, Dricus Du Plessis is determined to put an end to Chimaev’s streak.

Dricus Du Plessis Raises Questions About Khhamzat Chimaev’s Composure Following First Potential Loss At UFC 319

During UFC 319 media day, Dricus Du Plessis spoke about his upcoming title defense against Khamzat Chimaev. “Stillknocks” questioned Chimaev’s mental toughness, pondering how the undefeated Russian might react if he suffers his first career defeat and loses his undefeated record.

“I think after Saturday night, it’s going to be time to go and maybe do some introspection saying ‘how are we approaching this?’ Because I don’t know where he’s at on a mental level,” Du Plessis said. “I know he has a lot of money, as he says. I haven’t checked his bank statements but he says he has a lot of money.

Du Plessis confidently asserted that as long as he remains in the UFC middleweight division, no one will be able to take his championship away.

“You know he’s so certain he’s becoming world champion and I’m here to say no. There’s no way you’re becoming world champion while I’m the champion. It’s going to be interesting to see.”

‘What The Fook Is Happenin’ – Fans Stunned As Conor McGregor Reportedly Removed From UFC Roster

Conor McGregor’s UFC future is in question.

McGregor is arguably the biggest star the UFC and perhaps all of combat sports has ever produced, continuing to dominate headlines despite being four years away from active competition.

“The Notorious” hasn’t fought since breaking his leg in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, but has teased multiple comebacks in the years since.

The former two-division UFC champion was set for a blockbuster comeback against ex-title challenger Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024. However, just two weeks out, his return was derailed when a toe injury forced him to withdraw.

Fast forward to August 2025, and McGregor is showing strong interest in a grand stage return at the proposed UFC event on the White House lawn in July 2026. He’s fueled speculation with a flurry of training videos, and his commitment was further underscored by news that he’s officially re-entered the UFC’s testing pool. Even UFC CEO Dana White has hinted that the Irishman is actively lobbying for a spot on the historic White House card.

However, on Thursday, speculation surrounding McGregor’s comeback hit a major snag, as renowned roster tracker UFC Roster Watch reported that the superstar has been removed from the promotion’s official fighter roster.

Fans Stunned As Conor McGregor Reportedly Cut From UFC Roster

Following reports of Conor McGregor’s potential removal from the UFC roster, social media erupted with reactions from MMA fans. Many expressed shock and confusion over the news, while naysayers seized the moment to throw shade at “The Notorious”.

Even without stepping into the Octagon, Conor McGregor has remained a headline magnet for all the wrong reasons. In November 2024, an Irish court found him liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in a hotel room back in December 2018.

He is also facing a separate lawsuit alleging sexual assault during the 2023 NBA Finals. On top of his legal troubles, “The Notorious” has been deeply involved in Irish politics and has publicly expressed strong interest in a potential presidential bid this year.

Patchy Mix Set For UFC 320 Return After Mario Bautista Spoiled His Octagon Debut

The UFC 320 lineup is starting to fall into place.

On Thursday, the promotion announced that Patchy Mix will make his return at UFC 320, where he’s set to welcome reigning KSW bantamweight champion Jakub Wikłacz for his Octagon debut.

Mix made his promotional debut at UFC 316 in June, but the night didn’t go his way as he suffered a lopsided unanimous decision loss to rising contender Mario Bautista. Before that setback, “No Love” was riding a seven-fight winning streak in Bellator, where he reigned as bantamweight champion.

The 31-year-old American boasts a professional record of 20-2, with 13 of those victories coming by submission.

Meanwhile, Wikłacz last competed at KSW 95 in June 2024, where he successfully defended his bantamweight crown with a second-round submission of Sebastian Przybysz. “Masa” is riding a seven-fight unbeaten streak and carries a professional record of 16-3-2, with 10 of those victories coming via submission.

UFC 319 Card Takes Hit with Fight Cancellation Two Days Before Event

The UFC 319 card suffered a late blow with a fight scrapped just two days before the event.

According to a recent report from BJPENN.com’s Cole Shelton, the veteran lightweight clash between Diego Ferreira and King Green has been called off for reasons yet to be known. At this time, it remains uncertain whether the bout will be rescheduled for a future event.

Ferreira was slated to return to action at UFC 319 after a unanimous decision loss to Grant Dawson at UFC 311 this past January. The 40-year-old Brazilian is enduring one of the toughest stretches of his career, with a 2-4 run over his last six Octagon outings. He holds a 10-6 UFC record, with five of those victories coming by knockout.

Meanwhile, Green last competed at UFC 313 this past March, suffering a brutal knockout defeat to Mauricio Ruffy. That setback followed a submission loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 304 in July 2024. The 38-year-old American’s most recent victory came at UFC 300 against Jim Miller, but inconsistency has kept him from maintaining momentum. He currently boasts a UFC record of 13-12-1 with one no contest.

Carlos Prates Explains How Smoking Cigarettes Helps His Weight Cut Ahead Of UFC 319 Return

Cigarettes seem to be a constant companion in Carlos Prates’ daily grind.

Prates is set to make his Octagon return this Saturday, August 16, at UFC 319, where he will face veteran welterweight Geoff Neal at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The bout was originally scheduled for UFC 314 last April, but an injury to “Handz of Steel” forced the fight to be postponed.

“The Nightmare” is celebrated for his explosive finishes inside the cage. Outside the Octagon, though, he’s equally notorious for his hard-living lifestyle, often seen indulging in alcohol and, most notably, as a dedicated chain smoker in his social media posts.

Despite numerous warnings from his coaches about the health risks, Prates openly admits to smoking daily. Even while actively competing, lighting up before and after fights has become a deeply ingrained ritual he refuses to break.

Carlos Prates Claims Smoking Cigarettes Supports His Weight Cut

During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Carlos Prates was questioned about whether he had cut back on his smoking ahead of his fight with Geoff Neal. The Fighting Nerds standout openly admitted his enduring love for cigarettes, revealing that he still lights up around eight smokes a day.

“The Nightmare” revealed he’s attempted to reduce his smoking, but doing so led to overeating. He ultimately accepted that he’d rather light up than risk struggling with weight cuts.

“Sometimes I start to smoke a little bit less, but it’s hard,” Carlos Prates said. “I get really excited, and I want to eat. I cannot eat pizza all day, so I prefer to smoke rather than have some problem with making weight… I like to smoke before I go to the stadium. We cannot smoke in the locker room. Smoke before, then I go there.”

Prates last stepped into the Octagon at UFC Kansas City this past April, where his 10-fight knockout streak was snapped by a unanimous decision defeat to Ian Garry. Before experiencing his first UFC loss, “The Nightmare” was riding a four-fight winning streak, featuring dominant finishes over notable opponents like Neil Magny and Li Jingliang.

Carlos Prates, who secured his UFC contract in August 2023 via Dana White’s Contender Series, boasts a professional record of 21-7, with an impressive 19 victories coming by way of stoppage.

On Tuesday, Khamzat Chimaev’s jiu-jitsu coach, Alan Do Nascimento, posted an Instagram video capturing the moment “Borz” crossed paths with reigning UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis ahead of their clash this weekend.

To the surprise of many, the two rivals greeted each other with respect, shared a light moment of camaraderie, and chatted briefly in a friendly manner.

“Stillknocks” enters UFC 319 riding the momentum of a dominant unanimous decision victory in his second title defense, a rematch against Sean Strickland at UFC 312 this past February.

He first captured the 185-pound crown via split decision over Strickland at UFC 297, then successfully defended it with a submission win against former champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Du Plessis remains unbeaten in the UFC, boasting a perfect 9-0 record.

Meanwhile, Chimaev is fresh off a first-round submission victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 in October 2024. “Borz” has seen limited action in recent years, competing just four times since 2022. Khamzat Chimaev will enter the Octagon in standout gear this weekend.

Chimaev will challenge reigning middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 319 on August 16 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Back in 2020, UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell made history by debuting his signature Reebok camouflage shorts. However, since last year, the UFC’s official fight kit partner Venum has rolled out a wave of custom designs for some of the sport’s biggest names including Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya, Dustin Poirier, Merab Dvalishvili, and Ilia Topuria, among others.

The trend shows no signs of losing momentum, with the latest unveiling arriving just in time for UFC 319. As Khamzat Chimaev prepares for his first UFC title shot, the undefeated challenger will debut bespoke Venum fight shorts inspired by his moniker “Borz,” the Chechen word for wolf. The design features a striking pair of howling wolves on each side, set against a bold blue and grey backdrop.

However, Chimaev won’t be the only one showcasing unique fight gear on Saturday night. His opponent, Du Plessis, will also step in wearing his own custom-made shorts, adorned with the bold and vivid colors of the South African flag, a proud tribute to his heritage.

“Stillknocks” first sported the distinctive design during his successful title defense against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 in August 2024.

The UFC will move to a new streaming home next year.

The MMA promotion’s exclusive partnership with ESPN expires at the close of 2025, and UFC CEO Dana White has dropped more than a few hints about a shift in broadcast partners. For months, rumors had swirled that the company might align with streaming heavyweights such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, drawn by their global reach and ability to deliver high-volume content to millions of subscribers worldwide.

However, in a twist that few saw coming, the UFC announced on Monday that it had signed a landmark seven-year media rights deal with Paramount Skydance, making Paramount+ the exclusive U.S. destination for every UFC event.

Every event will stream on the direct-to-consumer platform Paramount+, with select numbered events also simulcast on CBS. In a major shift, the deal scraps the traditional pay-per-view model, instead offering these premium cards at no extra cost to Paramount+’s vast U.S. subscriber base.

Dana White Talks About UFC’s New Streaming Deal With Paramount

Following the announcement of the UFC’s landmark partnership with the Paramount network, Dana White took to social media to share his thoughts on the deal. White voiced his excitement over moving away from the longtime pay-per-view model, predicting that the shift would open the doors to a larger audience than ever before and propel the sport to unprecedented heights.

“This historic deal with Paramount and CBS is incredible for UFC fans and our athletes, White shared in a press release on X. “For the first time ever, fans in the US will have access to all UFC content without a Pay-Per-View model, making it more affordable and accessible to view the greatest fights on a massive platform. This deal puts UFC amongst the biggest sports in the world. The exposure provided by the Paramount and CBS networks under this new structure is a huge win for our athletes and anyone who watches and loves this sport.”

Martin Buday Re-Signs With Oktagon MMA After Abrupt UFC Release From 7-1 Run

Martin Buday has a new banner to fight under.

Buday was released from his UFC contract after his unanimous decision win over Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi last month, as the promotion surprisingly chose not to renew his deal.

“Badys” secured his UFC contract in October 2021 with a first-round knockout of Lorenzo Hood on Dana White’s Contender Series. He made his Octagon debut at UFC Vegas 51 in April 2022, earning a unanimous decision victory over Chris Barnett.

Buday compiled a decent 7-1 record during his eight-fight UFC tenure, with his sole setback coming via second round TKO against Shamil Gaziev at UFC 296 in December 2023. The 33-year-old Slovakian departed the promotion ranked as the No. 12 heavyweight contender after closing out his run on a three-fight win streak, highlighted by victories over former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski and Uran Satybaldiev.

However, Martin Buday has returned to the organization where he once ruled as its heavyweight champion.

Martin Buday Returns To Oktagon MMA

At Oktagon 74, held Saturday at the Central Tennis Court in Prague, Czech Republic, Martin Buday inked a fresh contract with OKTAGON MMA inside the cage just days after being released from the UFC.

Following his return signing, “Badys” came face-to-face with reigning OKTAGON MMA heavyweight champion Will Fleury, hinting at a potential clash that could materialize in the days ahead.

Buday competed under the OKTAGON MMA banner from 2018 to 2021, with his final bout for the promotion taking place in June 2021. On that night, he captured the heavyweight title by stopping Kamil Minda with a second-round knockout.

Yoel Romero Set To Make Bareknuckle Boxing Debut At BKFC 80

Yoel Romero now has a date and opponent locked in for his bareknuckle debut.

Last month, BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor officially welcomed 48-year-old Romero to the promotion’s roster. While now part of BKFC, the former UFC title challenger retains the freedom to compete in MMA and collaborate with other organizations as he pleases.

Though the “Soldier of God” may be BKFC’s biggest attraction right now, promotion founder David Feldman previously admitted that many fighters backed out once Romero’s arrival was confirmed. But now, he finally has someone willing to step into the squared circle.

BKFC Chief Reveals Fighters Hesitant to Fight Yoel Romero: 'A Couple Guys Already Turned It Down'

Yoel Romero To Clash With Fellow Debutant At BKFC 80

On Tuesday, BKFC officially announced that Yoel Romero will make his bareknuckle boxing debut in a heavyweight showdown against a fellow newcomer at BKFC 80, set for September 12 at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The upcoming card will be headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Leonardo Perdomo and Arnold Adams.

Romero’s most recent outings came under the unique ruleset of Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship, where he secured stoppage victories over Duane Crespo in November and Ras Hylton this past March. “Soldier of God” parted ways with the UFC after a failed middleweight title bid against Israel Adesanya at UFC 248 in March 2020.

The former Olympic silver medalist transitioned to Bellator, where he compiled a 3-2 record and earned a shot at the light heavyweight title against Vadim Nemkov. Yoel Romero’s Bellator stint came to a close at the PFL vs. Bellator crossover event in February 2024, where he secured a unanimous decision win over UFC title challenger Thiago Santos.

Meanwhile, Doukas brings a 2-2 professional MMA record into his BKFC debut, with both of his wins coming via stoppage. His most recent MMA outing took place in April 2024 at Fierce FC 31, where he suffered a second-round submission loss to Cole Shafer. The American also holds a 1-0 record in professional boxing.

Dricus Du Plessis Has The Size And Skill To Dominate 3 Divisions, Says UFC Veteran

Dricus du Plessis has what it takes to accomplish something no one has ever done in the UFC, at least according to a former fighter.

Du Plessis is gearing up for his third middleweight title defense as he faces the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev in a high-stakes UFC 319 main event on August 16 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

While Chimaev may be the toughest challenge yet for “Stillknocks”, a victory could open the door to even greater opportunities. The 31-year-old South African has made it clear he’s eyeing a move up in weight, with ambitions of becoming a two-division UFC champion.

However, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub believes Du Plessis has the potential not just to claim two titles, but to become a legitimate threat across three divisions.

Brendan Schaub Says Dricus Du Plessis Could Become UFC’s First Triple Champion

During a recent appearance on the JAXXON podcast, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub shared his thoughts on why Dricus du Plessis should set his sights beyond the middleweight division once he handles business against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319.

According to Schaub, “Stillknocks” possesses both the tools and the physique to move up to light heavyweight in pursuit of a second title, and he believes a jump to heavyweight could follow as Du Plessis looks to carve out a historic legacy in the UFC.

“I think whoever wins out of Khamzat and DDP, whoever wins that can go for three belts,” Schaub said. “DDP’s bigger than Khamzat, so light heavyweight, he’s probably a light heavyweight naturally. So it makes sense for DDP to go to light heavyweight. Heavyweight’s not as far a stretch for him. DDP’s a big boy.”

Dricus du Plessis is no stranger to multi-division success. During his run in KSW between 2017 and 2018, he captured both the welterweight and middleweight titles.

“Stillknocks” last stepped into the Octagon at UFC 312 this past February, where he delivered a commanding performance to earn a unanimous decision victory in a rematch against Sean Strickland. Du Plessis remains unbeaten in the UFC, boasting a perfect 9-0 record, with six of those wins coming by way of stoppage.

Jake Paul Brings In High-Profile Lawyer To Target Those Accusing Him Of Fixing Fights

Jake Paul is done taking hits to his fighting reputation and is now taking serious steps to defend it.

In recent years, Paul has established himself as a major figure in crossover boxing, taking on multiple former UFC stars. However, critics continue to question his credibility, accusing him not only of facing opponents well past their prime or significantly older than him, but also of competing in fixed fights.

Last November, “The Problem Child” stepped into the ring with legendary heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, earning a dominant unanimous decision win. However, Tyson’s lackluster showing sparked widespread skepticism, with many questioning the authenticity of the fight.

After the fight, claims that the bout was fixed quickly gained traction on social media, fueling skepticism around the legitimacy of Paul’s win. In response to the growing backlash, Paul and his team at Most Valuable Promotions issued a formal statement firmly denying any wrongdoing and dismissing the accusations as baseless.

Jake Paul Enlists Alex Spiro To Silence Critics Questioning His Fights

Amid relentless accusations of staged bouts, Jake Paul has taken a bold legal step to protect his name by enlisting renowned American attorney Alex Spiro to lead the charge in defending his reputation.

Spiro, widely regarded as a powerhouse attorney, has represented prominent personalities like Elon Musk and is known for his relentless legal strategies in defending clients against defamatory claims. The 42-year-old lawyer now brings his expertise to Paul’s corner, aiming to aggressively challenge the accusations that threaten the boxer’s reputation.

On Monday, “The Problem Child” took to social media to officially announce his partnership with Spiro and issued a stern warning to critics about the legal consequences of questioning the legitimacy of his fights.

“I’ve dedicated my life to boxing and I will no longer let those with a public profile harm me or the sport I love and respect, without consequences,” Jake Paul wrote on X.

Jake Paul was last seen in action in June, securing a unanimous decision victory over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which extended his current winning streak to six. The Ohio native now boasts 12-1 record, with his lone defeat coming via split decision against Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Arman Tsarukyan Highlights Surprising Detail From Khamzat Chimaev’s Training Ahead Of UFC 319

Arman Tsarukyan has revealed the intensity of Khamzat Chimaev’s demanding training routine.

Chimaev is slated to headline UFC 319 on August 16 at the United Center in Chicago, where he will challenge reigning middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis for the title.

“Borz” has faced a string of cancellations and setbacks, with medical issues and unforeseen hurdles severely limiting his activity. As a result, he has competed just five times in the Octagon since September 2020. He has previously opened up about his inactivity, attributing it to pushing himself too hard in training.

According to the undefeated Russian, extreme overtraining left his body drained, ultimately compromising his immune system and making him more susceptible to illness. Having been part of Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 319 training camp, Tsarukyan understands the toll such intensity can take.

Arman Tsarukyan Shares Khamzat Chimaev Hired Coach To Prevent Overtraining

During a recent interview with Kamil Gadzhiev, Arman Tsarukyan weighed in on Khamzat Chimaev’s intense training habits. According to the UFC lightweight contender, “Borz” often entered fight night far from his peak, having drained himself through relentless overtraining.

To address the issue, Chimaev’s team has now brought in a dedicated coach tasked with managing his workload and closely monitoring his recovery to ensure he performs at his best when it matters most.

“Khamzat’s never at 100% on fight night because he constantly overtrains,” Tsarukyan said. “After sparring, he always goes to work the bag, lift weights, etc. He’s one of those guys you have to tell when it’s time to stop. He’s now being tested daily to monitor his recovery. They have devices that show his recovery status every day, and if he’s in a slump, they help pull him out of it. They give him more time to relax, because when you’re overtrained, you can’t work properly in sparring. We need a guy who will control this 24/7 and stop him at the right moment so he won’t overtrain.”

“Borz” was last seen in action at UFC 308 in October 2024, where he delivered a dominant first-round submission win over former champion Robert Whittaker. Khamzat Chimaev holds a flawless 8-0 record inside the UFC and stands at 14-0 overall, with an impressive 12 of those victories coming via stoppage.

UFC Legend Wants One Big Test For Tatsuro Taira Before Any Talk Of Title Fight

Tatsuro Taira may be eyeing a title shot, but a UFC legend believes he still has a point to prove.

This past Saturday in the main event of UFC Vegas 108, Taira made a statement by submitting short-notice replacement Hyun Sung Park in the second round at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both fighters started off cautiously, feeling each other out until “The Best” flipped the script with a pair of thudding right hands that dropped Park. From there, Taira dominated the remainder of the first round on the mat, relentlessly pressuring but unable to secure a finish.

That changed quickly in the second. Taira grounded Park within seconds and wasted no time capitalizing, forcing a tap via neck crank just 1:06 into the round.

In the aftermath of his victory, Taira used his Octagon interview to call for a UFC flyweight title shot against the winner of a potential matchup between reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja and rising contender Joshua Van.

Michael Bisping, who had already urged Tatsuro Taira during the interview to log one more win before entering title contention, later expanded on his stance and explained why he believes the rising flyweight isn’t quite ready yet.

Michael Bisping Believes Tatsuro Taira Should Face Brandon Moreno Before UFC Title Shot

Speaking during the UFC Vegas 108 broadcast (via MMA Junkie), Michael Bisping explained why he believes Tatsuro Taira still has more to prove before earning a title shot, suggesting that a win over a former flyweight champion like Brandon Moreno would solidify his place in the division’s elite.

“He calls for a title fight. I get that, but I was like, ‘You’ve got to have one more fight first,’” Bisping said. “I’m not the matchmaker. I don’t make those decisions, but that seems logical. It would seem he would have to have one more fight. Who should that fight be against?

“I’ve got a choice: It is the former champion Brandon Moreno. Tell me you don’t want to see that fight? That would show you the level of Tatsuro Taira and also allow Brandon Moreno to get back in the mix – not that he’s not in the mix, of course.”

With his dominant performance against Hyun Sung Park, “The Best” bounced back into the win column after tasting the first defeat of his professional career in a hard-fought split decision loss to former title challenger Brandon Royval at UFC Vegas 98 in October 2024. Taira now holds a 7-1 record in the UFC, with five of those victories coming by way of finish.

Conor McGregor Denounces Muslims In Ireland & ‘Migrants Of Full Pakistani Heritage’ In Latest Social Media Storm

Conor McGregor has lashed out at rising crime in Ireland, attributing it to individuals from a specific religious group.

McGregor has become increasingly vocal in Irish political discourse, taking aim at the current government with sharp criticism, especially over its immigration policies. He has even hinted at a possible run for the presidency, suggesting he’s eyeing influence far beyond the fight game.

The former two-division UFC champion’s political ambitions gained traction after he accused Irish authorities of using him as a “scapegoat” for the 2023 Dublin riots. “The Notorious” claimed the government deliberately shifted blame onto him to distract attention from knife attacks on Irish citizens allegedly committed by immigrants, which had sparked widespread anti-immigration protests across the country.

Conor McGregor Slams Muslim Immigrants Over Knife Crime In Ireland

Conor McGregor recently took to social media to unleash a fiery response following a disturbing broad daylight knife attack on an Irish police officer by an individual believed to be from the Muslim community, reportedly shouting a religious chant during the assault.

“The Notorious” claimed that the attacker was of Pakistani heritage and called for his immediate deportation, insisting that his citizenship be revoked without delay.

“If is the case, that it was a second generation migrant of full Pakistani heritage, Mother and father came to Ireland prior, had a child and raised him, now a 20/30 year old, in Dublin’s city centre (hesitant to believe this btw) if is the case, then. The stabber and his entire family MUST BE DEPORTED! To raise a person that grows to stab a member of our Gardai while on duty is grounds for immediate termination of citizenship and removal from country. This is how you put our citizens, and members of force, in the knowledge that you are truly with them, and that their safety and livelihood is absolutely paramount! Remove. Immediately!,” Conor McGregor wrote on X.

The UFC superstar once again accused the Irish government of putting native citizens at risk through reckless immigration policies. McGregor suggested that if brought to power, he would take decisive action where current leaders have failed.

“‘Allahu Akbar!’ McGregor added. “The knife wielding maniac shouted this! Watch your back out there people, always. Watch your back out there people, always. Abysmal! Terrifying! This is New Ireland. For now! They will never get away with this with me at the helm. Never in a million years! I will be all over them! Who do you think this government would rather deal with it as head of state during these times of ever frequent attacks on our citizens, or throughout these constant revelations of large scale government corruption… Or more so, who would they not rather deal with? Max Holloway Shares Grim Injury News, UFC Return Uncertain Until 2026

Max Holloway has cast serious doubt on fighting again this year.

Last month, Holloway delivered a vintage performance, going to war with familiar foe Dustin Poirier in a thrilling five-round main event at UFC 318. Both men scored knockdowns, but it was “Blessed” who surged ahead with relentless pace and tactical control to outclass Poirier down the stretch.

Although the former UFC featherweight champion was briefly rocked in the second round, he stayed composed and ultimately derailed “The Diamond’s” farewell plans by preventing the trilogy sweep and securing a unanimous decision victory to successfully defend his BMF title.

Following the victory, Max Holloway wasted no time in calling for a rematch with newly minted lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, banking on their shared history to leapfrog contenders like Arman Tsarukyan and Justin Gaethje in the title race.

However, it appears “Blessed” could be shelved for the foreseeable future.

Max Holloway Says Lingering Hand Injury May Keep Him Out Until 2026

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Max Holloway reflected on his UFC 318 clash with Dustin Poirier and revealed he sustained an injury to his right hand during the bout. The reigning BMF champion admitted the recovery process could take longer than expected, all but ruling out a return to the Octagon in 2025.

“My right hand still hurts,” Holloway said. “If you have hopes of me fighting before the end of the year, probably not gonna happen. I’m seeing a specialist some time this week and I already met with my doctor and now I’ve got to meet a specialist but things are not looking up for me fighting one more time this year. What’s next, I couldn’t tell you, this stupid injury has pushed things back.”

After suffering the first knockout loss of his career to then-featherweight champion Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 in October 2024, Holloway has bounced back and solidified his place as a legitimate contender at lightweight by building on his earlier knockout win over Justin Gaethje with a dominant performance against Poirier.

Dustin Poirier Announces Major Career Shift Just Two Weeks After UFC Retirement

Dustin Poirier may be done fighting in the UFC, but he’s not done with the sport.

Poirier brought his illustrious MMA career to a close last month after dropping a closely contested trilogy bout to Max Holloway in the UFC 318 main event, fought in front of a hometown crowd in Louisiana.

Having already bested Holloway twice in their previous meetings, “The Diamond” concluded his UFC journey with a spirited unanimous decision loss in a back-and-forth clash for the symbolic BMF title, capping off a storied career with a performance that resonated deeply with fans and marked a fitting farewell.

Although Dustin Poirier fell short in three attempts to capture the undisputed lightweight title, he walks away from the sport as one of the most revered and accomplished fighters of his generation. Now, less than two weeks removed from his retirement bout, “The Diamond” appears to have set his sights on the next chapter of his journey.

The UFC Paris lineup has reportedly been strengthened with a potential barnburner of a matchup.

According to a recent report from Bulgarian Top Team, Benoit Saint Denis is set to take on surging knockout artist Mauricio Ruffy at UFC Paris, which is scheduled to take place on September 6 at the Accor Arena in France.

Saint Denis last competed at UFC 315, where he earned an impressive second-round submission victory over Kyle Prepolec. The win marked a much-needed return to the win column for the 29-year-old Frenchman after suffering back-to-back stoppage losses to Renato Moicano and Dustin Poirier in 2024.

Before those setbacks, “God of War” was riding a five-fight win streak, with all victories coming by way of stoppage against notable names like Matt Frevola and Thiago Moises. Saint Denis currently boasts a professional record of 14-3, with every one of his wins coming inside the distance.

Meanwhile, Ruffy was seen in action at UFC 313 in March, delivering a stunning first-round wheel kick knockout over King Green. The Fighting Nerds standout earned his UFC contract with a third-round knockout of Raimond Magomedaliev on Dana White’s Contender Series in October 2023.

Ruffy heads into UFC Paris riding a seven-fight win streak, with his lone career setback coming against Manoel Sousa under the Standout Fighting Tournament banner in November 2019. The 29-year-old Brazilian powerhouse holds a pro record of 12-1, with 11 of those victories coming by way of knockout.

  • Conor McGregor’s Sexual Assault Appeal Rejected By Irish Court

Conor McGregor’s Sexual Assault Appeal Rejected By Irish Court

Conor McGregor has suffered a fresh blow in his ongoing legal battle.

In November 2024, the Dublin High Court sided with Nikita Hand, ruling that McGregor was responsible for a sexual assault that allegedly occurred at a Dublin hotel in December 2018. The former two-division UFC champion was ordered to pay €248,000 (approximately $257,000) in damages following the jury’s verdict.

Since the ruling, “The Notorious” and his longtime partner Dee Devlin have fiercely refuted the accusations, taking to social media to denounce Hand’s claims and declare their intent to appeal. McGregor followed through with the legal challenge in February; however, the appeal has now failed to sway the court in his favor.

Conor McGregor Fails To Overturn Ruling In Civil Rape Case

On Thursday, Conor McGregor was dealt a significant setback by Ireland’s Court of Appeal, which dismissed his bid to overturn a jury’s decision ordering him to compensate Nikita Hand, the woman who accused him of sexual assault. The court dismissed the appeal in full.

The UFC megastar and his legal team had filed the appeal arguing that key elements of the trial had unfairly influenced the jury. McGregor’s attorneys contended that his statements to police during interviews should never have been presented in court, claiming they prejudiced the proceedings.

Conor McGregor’s lawyer also took issue with the phrasing of a question on the jury’s “issue paper,” suggesting it lacked clarity. Additionally, the appeal challenged the trial judge’s instructions, asserting it was improper to ask the jury whether McGregor had “assaulted” rather than “sexually assaulted” the complainant. Despite these claims, a panel of three senior judges rejected the appeal on all counts.

McGregor is also entangled in a separate civil lawsuit stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted an unnamed woman during the NBA Finals game between the Heat and the Celtics in June 2023. The plaintiff is reportedly pursuing over $75,000 in damages, along with additional compensation.

The suit accuses “The Notorious” of battery and further alleges that the Kaseya Center was grossly negligent, claiming its staff and security failed to uphold safety protocols by allowing McGregor to become excessively intoxicated on the premises.

Conor McGregor has been out of action since suffering a gruesome leg fracture in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. His long-awaited return was scheduled for UFC 303 in June 2024 against Michael Chandler, but the comeback was derailed just two weeks before fight night, as the Irishman was forced to pull out due to a toe injury.

However, the former UFC champion has shown some serious intent to make his long-awaited return at the proposed UFC event on the White House lawn, tentatively scheduled for July 2026. He also announced that he has re-entered the UFC’s drug testing pool.

UFC Analyst Warns Why ‘It’s A Disaster’ If Khamzat Chimaev Claims Middleweight Title At UFC 319

Khamzat Chimaev capturing the UFC middleweight title could spell trouble for the division, at least that’s what one analyst believes.

Chimaev is set to challenge reigning 185-pound champion Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 319, scheduled for August 16 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

“Borz” made an explosive entry into the UFC in July 2020, earning massive acclaim after securing three dominant victories within just 66 days, marking the fastest such streak in modern UFC history. However, the undefeated Chechen’s rise has been repeatedly stalled by medical complications and unforeseen obstacles, resulting in only five appearances inside the Octagon since September 2020.

Now that Khamzat Chimaev is slated to compete in the biggest fight of his career, observers and critics are questioning whether he’ll successfully make it to the Octagon without complications. If he does and manages to dethrone Du Plessis, Din Thomas believes that could mark the beginning of an even bigger problem.

Din Thomas Raises Red Flag Over Khamzat Chimaev’s Future As Potential Champion

During a recent episode of The Bohnfire with Mike Bohn, UFC analyst Din Thomas shared his thoughts on the upcoming UFC 319 headliner between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. The UFC analyst cautioned that if “Borz” emerges as the new middleweight champion, his history of irregular appearances could halt the division’s momentum, creating a situation that, in his view, would be detrimental to the sport.

“If Khamzat wins it’s a disaster,” Thomas said. “You can’t tell me a part of you isn’t just thinking, ‘This fight might not actually happen.’ Some of these guys habitual struggle in just making it to the dance. I’m not going to be pessimistic about it and will say he’s going to show up. But if he does show up and he’s able to win, do we trust him to be able to show up and fight again? That’s the thing.

“Can he do it twice? Can he do it three times? Because we need movement. I hate when it’s static and there’s no movement in these divisions and in order to be movement in the divisions, the champions have to fight.”

“Borz” last competed at UFC 308 in October 2024, where he secured a dominant first-round submission victory over former champion Robert Whittaker. Chimaev remains undefeated, boasting a perfect 8-0 record in the UFC and 14-0 overall, with an impressive 12 of those wins coming by way of finish.
