  • People Want to See Anthony Joshua Knock Out Jake Paul – Insiders Say it Is Likely To Happen

Will people pay big money to see Jake Paul get knocked out?

After a string of victories over past-their-prime MMA and boxing stars, ‘The Problem Child’ is targeting a clash with the former unified heavyweight world champion, claiming that he would “f***ing beat Anthony Joshua’s a**.” Initially, the callout was disregarded by fans and pundits alike, many of them accusing Paul of clout chasing.

That was until famed British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn insisted that a fight between the two was a โ€œvery realโ€ possibility, putting the odds of it happening at “50/50.”

Despite coming off a tough loss against Daniel Dubois in his last outing, Joshua is still considered to be one of the heavyweight division’s premiere knockout artists, and Ariel Helwani believes people will pay big money to see him send Jake Paul to the shadow realm.

“People will tune in and people will pay the hard-earned cash just to see AJ knock him out,” Helwani said on Ariel x Ade. “For AJ, this is justโ€”I mean, stealing candy from a baby.”

Tyson Fury ready to bet big on Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul’s recent victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew a lot of criticism from fight fans as it appeared the two were phoning it in — a similar complaint lobbed at Paul’s highly anticipated and mildly-received clash against boxing icon ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson in November.

Thus far, Paul has only fought one “legitimate” active boxer in his career, that being Tyson Fury’s little brother, Tommy Fury. Paul ended up losing the bout via split decision, handing him his first and only loss thus far.

According to Gambling 911, Paul only has a 7.7% chance of beating Joshua, but that won’t stop the elder Fury from plunking down a million dollars on ‘The Problem Child.’

“Jake Paul chins AJ, yes,” Fury said in an interview withย iFL TV. “100 percent. If they fight, I’m putting a million pounds on Jake Paul.”

  • Oleksandr Usykโ€™s โ€œBeautiful Performanceโ€ in Dubois 2 Dispels Prior Low Blow Faking Controversy, per Ukranian Karate Combat Victor

Oleksandr Usykโ€™s โ€œBeautiful Performanceโ€ in Dubois 2 Dispels Prior Low Blow Faking Controversy, per Ukranian Karate Combat Victor

Oleksandr Usyk has recently climbed the mountain once again and holds all of the major heavyweight hardware across the boxing landscape and a fellow Ukrainian combat sports athlete was impressed as he earned his own victory on the same night. Alexander Krutskykh earned a decision win over Shokrukh Kholmuradov at Karate Combat 56 on July 19th and is now 2-0 under the KC banner.

Krutskykh appeared on Bowks Talking Bouts and touched on several subjects including Usyk earning his second win over Dubois, also on July 19th, and in even more emphatic fashion than their first fight. While he resides in Canada, Krutskykh proudly represents both Canada and also represents Ukraine in the Karate Combat pit. When offering up his thoughts on that Usyk victory over Dubois in their rematch to once again become boxing’s undisputed heavyweight champion, Krutskykh said,

“Yeah, honestly like I wasn’t expecting nothing [other] than that, but yeah, I knew he going to finish it. A lot of controversy was [there] about the last fight that he was faking it. He was faking the low blow and a lot of people was hating on that. But I know what kind of person he is and he wouldn’t fake it. He proved that again and in such a beautiful performance. Putting him down like that with such a crazy left hook like that.”

“That was beauty and you know [I’m] happy because he is Oleksandr and I’m Oleksandr. So it’s, you know, we both take the W this night and yeah, that was cool to be part of that. My teammates in my hometown here in Canada, they both streamed Usyk fight and then streamed my fight right after. So that was cool to see, how the gym was supporting me. A lot of people reaching out, supporting, and joining the live stream. So that was very, very special.”

Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker, and what could be next

Oleksandr Usyk is on a generational run with many wondering what his next step could be. On an athletic meritocracy level, Joseph Parker stands out as the obvious next option for the kingpin of the four belt era.

The former WBO heavyweight champion even went into the ring at Wembley Stadium following Oleksandr Usyk’s second win over Daniel Dubois as Parker simultaneously wanted to offer up congratulations to the decorated pugilist but to also drive the narrative around him being next up for Usyk.

Joseph Parker has even used digital media to forward his cause as the New Zealand combatant has also done his own adapted cover of A-ha’s ‘Take on Me’ to fuel more discussion and want from the sweet science community for an Usyk throwdown.

  • Jake Paul Brings In High-Profile Lawyer To Target Those Accusing Him Of Fixing Fights

Jake Paul Brings In High-Profile Lawyer To Target Those Accusing Him Of Fixing Fights

Jake Paul is done taking hits to his fighting reputation and is now taking serious steps to defend it.

In recent years, Paul has established himself as a major figure in crossover boxing, taking on multiple former UFC stars. However, critics continue to question his credibility, accusing him not only of facing opponents well past their prime or significantly older than him, but also of competing in fixed fights.

Last November, “The Problem Child” stepped into the ring with legendary heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, earning a dominant unanimous decision win. However, Tysonโ€™s lackluster showing sparked widespread skepticism, with many questioning the authenticity of the fight.

After the fight, claims that the bout was fixed quickly gained traction on social media, fueling skepticism around the legitimacy of Paulโ€™s win. In response to the growing backlash, Paul and his team at Most Valuable Promotions issued a formal statement firmly denying any wrongdoing and dismissing the accusations as baseless.

Jake Paul Enlists Alex Spiro To Silence Critics Questioning His Fights

Amid relentless accusations of staged bouts, Jake Paul has taken a bold legal step to protect his name by enlisting renowned American attorney Alex Spiro to lead the charge in defending his reputation.

Spiro, widely regarded as a powerhouse attorney, has represented prominent personalities like Elon Musk and is known for his relentless legal strategies in defending clients against defamatory claims. The 42-year-old lawyer now brings his expertise to Paulโ€™s corner, aiming to aggressively challenge the accusations that threaten the boxerโ€™s reputation.

On Monday, “The Problem Child” took to social media to officially announce his partnership with Spiro and issued a stern warning to critics about the legal consequences of questioning the legitimacy of his fights.

“Iโ€™ve dedicated my life to boxing and I will no longer let those with a public profile harm me or the sport I love and respect, without consequences,” Jake Paul wrote on X.

Jake Paul was last seen in action in June, securing a unanimous decision victory over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which extended his current winning streak to six. The Ohio native now boasts 12-1 record, with his lone defeat coming via split decision against Tommy Fury in February 2023.

  • Jake Paul Tells Conor McGregor to Give It Up In Latest Training Clip Fiasco

Jake Paul Tells Conor McGregor to Give It Up In Latest Training Clip Fiasco

Jake Paul is tired of seeing Conor McGregor train.

Despite dealing with a slew of legal issues outside of the Octagon, the Irish megastar is insistent that his “greatest comeback in combat sports history” is still coming. In reality, it’s been more than four years since McGregor has strapped on the four-ounce gloves, and few are buying that his recent spree of training clips on social media suggests otherwise.

McGregor posted yet another video of himself shadowboxing, which drew the ire of Paul, who suggested that the former two-division titleholder “just give it up” already.

The last time McGregor fought in the UFC, he suffered a brutal broken leg in the opening round of his trilogy fight with recently retired fan favorite Dustin Poirier. Six months earlier, McGregor suffered the first knockout loss of his MMA career against ‘The Diamond’ at UFC 257. Since 2017, McGregor has gone 1-4, including a 10th-round TKO defeat at the hands of boxing icon Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor’s only win in the last eight years came against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in January, 2020 — two months before the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down.

Conor McGregor refuses to give up on his UFC return or his presidential aspirations

Despite the lack of activity inside the Octagon, McGregor has regularly dominated headlines, though not always for the right reasons. Recently, he lost an appeal after being held liable for the December 2018 rape of Nikita Hand. Now, Hand has filed a fresh lawsuit accusing him and two others of โ€œmalicious abuseโ€ of the court process during his failed appeal.

Still, that hasn’t stopped McGregor from lobbying for a spot on the UFC’s highly anticipated Fight Night at the White House next year. He also launched a petition to land on Ireland’s presidential ballot without nominations from other politicians.

“I, Conor McGregor hereby declare my intention to seek the esteemed office of President of Ireland,” the UFC star said on Monday. “The current constitutional framework however presents a significant barrier to democratic participation.”

In order to be considered a presidential candidate in Ireland, McGregor must have nominations from 20 members of the Oireachtas or four county councils — something he quickly recognized as an impossible task after a slew of politicians in his home country spoke out against his intent to run for office.

“This system, while intended to ensure a degree of political influence among candidates, inadvertently restricts the direct voice of the Irish electorate,” McGregor added.

“In light of this, I propose a petition advocating for a modification of the nomination process to allow my name be included on the ballot. I contend that the citizens of Ireland, both at home and abroad, should have the unhindered right to determine the candidates who appear on the presidential ballot.”

  • Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Former UFC Champion Questions The Validity of Boxing Match

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Former UFC Champion Questions The Validity of Boxing Match

Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz has questioned the validity of the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Just a matter of months ago, Mike Tyson came out of retirement for a boxing match against none other than Jake Paul. On paper, that would’ve seemed like a crazy idea less than a decade ago – but we live in strange times. Influencer boxing has become quite the thing over the years off the back of Paul, KSI and, originally, Joe Weller.

In the present day, everyone is pretty annoyed about what went down between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ was able to pick up the victory but given Mike’s age and general health, it wasn’t considered particularly legitimate. Some people even speculated that it could’ve been staged, with Tyson being paid to lose to Paul, holding back from showing the kind of true power that he once had in his prime.

That includes Tito Ortiz, who had the following to say about Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul in a recent interview.

Tito Ortizโ€™s view on Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

โ€œI was kind of bummed. I wanted Tyson to knock out Jake Paul. And I saw him pull some punches. I’m not saying that it was fixed, but I questioned a lot of it. I thought Tyson had a lot more.โ€

Will any kind of fight like this ever happen again? If Jake Paul has anything to say about it, then the answer is probably going to be yes.

  • Luke Rockhold on Sean Strickland: “Bend him over and make him call me daddy”

Luke Rockhold sent a pretty interesting ‘threat’ to Sean Strickland about a possible fight between the two men in the future.

As we know, the UFC – and mixed martial arts – days are over for Luke Rockhold. In the present, he’s preparing to face off against Darren Till in the realm of influencer boxing with Misfits. Their collision will go down at the end of August and while many aren’t big fans of the Misfits model, there’s no denying that they’ve been able to lure in some interesting names, and this contest is no different.

One thing that Luke Rockhold has never been afraid to do is talk trash. He’s a former UFC champion, he’s been involved in some huge fights at 185 pounds, and he’s had some legendary rivalries over the years. At this point in his career, though, he needs a big performance in order to prove that he can still get the job done athletically.

In a recent interview, Rockhold had the following to say when discussing the likes of Mike Perry and Sean Strickland.

Luke Rockhold makes a series of wild statements

“I’d like to clean up Perry’s little ass. Wax that, lubricate him a little bit, you know what I mean? Get that thing nice and wet and just rip it up. Jake, if you want to fight a real fighter, we could take Jake. I don’t really like Strickland. Maybe bend him over and make him call me daddy.”

Make of these comments what you will, fight fans.

  • Claressa Shields Asks Why Would I Fight ‘Ugly’ Cris Cyborg when She Can’t Box?

Claressa Shields Asks Why Would I Fight ‘Ugly’ Cris Cyborg when She Can’t Box?

Boxing icon Claressa Shields has given her thoughts on potentially fighting MMA/boxing star Cris Cyborg at some point in the future.

For the longest time now, Claressa Shields has been seen as one of the best female boxers in the sport. On the flip side, Cris Cyborg is one of the best female mixed martial artists ever. Of course, both have crossed over into the other’s dominant sport, but up to this point in time they’ve never fought one another.

Professionally, that is. They’ve sparred in the past but right now, given where they’re at in their careers, it doesn’t seem overly likely that we’re going to get Claressa Shields vs Cris Cyborg.

With that being said, Claressa Shields actually had the following to say about a potential matchup – and she didn’t hold back.

Claressa Shields takes a shot at Cris Cyborg

โ€œCris Cyborg is not vocal about [expletive]. Sheโ€™s a hater and sheโ€™s ugly.โ€

โ€œShe wanted me to go down to 47 and fight her with 12-ounce gloves or some bull crap. She doesnโ€™t really want to fight.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s fighting girls who are trash in boxing, girls who the commission wouldnโ€™t even let get inside the ring with me for sparring. I should have knocked her out when we sparred, but we were friends.โ€

    โ€œCris Cyborg cannot box.โ€

Shields is still only 30 years of age whereas Cyborg is 40. Who knows, maybe it’ll happen one day – but for now, trash talk is all that we’re going to get.

  • โ€œNobody Would Give Much of a F**K” if Jake Paul-Tommy Fury 2 Gets Booked says MFB Insider

Both Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have mentioned their desires, at different junctures, to eventually have a rematch with one another and one of the broadcasting personalities with Misfits Boxing has offered up his thoughts on the potential prizefight. With a recent appearance on Bowks Talking Bouts, Ben ‘The Bane’ Davis offered up his viewpoint on a litany of topics, including the scope of a possible sequel clash with Fury and Paul.

The former BKFC and Karate Combat fighter also has some proximity to Fury as Davis was previously being involved in the promotion for the eventually scrapped Tommy Fury vs. Darren Till fight on the Misfits Boxing circuit. When asked if a Jake Paul rematch with Tommy Fury could be a logical next step for both and perhaps a more generally feasible task for ‘The Problem Child’ than some of the prospective opponents that Paul has mentioned previously, Davis stated,

“Maybe in the context of a competitive sense. I think obviously avenging your losses is always a fun thing to do in combat sports. It shows direct and tangible improvement. But I would say that in the entertainment category, it makes no sense. Tommy Fury has done very, very little in the last couple of years. Maybe one of the only big differences between their first fight and if they did a rematch is how few people would be watching it. Nobody would give much of a f**k, truthfully, if Tommy Fury rematched Jake Paul.”

“That I think is a product of again, Jake’s insistence on promoting himself as somebody aiming for a world title, wanting legitimacy, wanting WBC-WBO recognition. Well, if you want that, then you should not fight Tommy Fury. If you don’t give a s**t about that, by all means. It’s your life, your decision-making.”

Jake Paul-Tommy Fury II and the disconnect with the former’s words and actions

As the Misfits Boxing broadcaster further expounded upon his viewpoint regarding a potential Paul versus Fury continuation of their in-ring story, Davis continued,

“But I’ve just found myself frustrated at this constant lack of connection between Paul’s actions and his words. Because if you listen to him, you’d probably be thinking, yeah, throw him in there with the best. But then he makes decisions that absolutely, completely contradict what he says on microphones and in press conferences. So I don’t know, maybe with that being said Tommy Fury is the perfect opponent [laughs] because he said he wants something legit. So maybe the opposite would be next.”

  • MFB Insider on Jake Paul vs. Chavez Jr. โ€œOne of the Fights of All Timeโ€

MFB Insider on Jake Paul vs. Chavez Jr. โ€œOne of the Fights of All Timeโ€

Jake Paul recently defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. under Queensberry Rules, and a Misfits Boxing broadcaster has broken down the bout as well as what could be next for the former. Appearing on Bowks Talking Bouts, Ben ‘The Bane’ Davis got into the specifics of that June 28th outing between Paul and Chavez Jr. that seemed fairly eclipsed by UFC 317 which transpired that same night.

As part of his MFB role, he hosted a Misfits Boxing faceoff interview with AnEsonGib as well as Slim circa last November. With Gib previously fighting Jake Paul in the context of offering up his thoughts on Paul’s recent fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Davis said,

“You know, it was one of the fights of all time, Dylan. I will say this [laughs], I’ve been critical of Jake Paul, and I think that there’s good reason to be because it’s been so cherry-picked in the last five years of his career. There’s asterisks kind of with every single opponent. With Julio, he was at much lighter weight classes in his career. He’s never really been like this strong force. He’s renowned because of the lineage, but I would say boxing purists and pundits know that this was about what we could expect. A version of Chavez that isn’t entirely interested in really wanting to engage and fight.”

“Which you could say that’s maybe Julio’s nature. You could say that that’s because of Jake Paul shutting him down inside the ring and presenting such offense that if Julio engaged, he would be put on the canvas. I’m not entirely sure, it really is up to you. All I know is that in the last two rounds, Julio Cesar Chavez’s sixty-one strikes, he landed forty of them in those final six minutes, and a lot of them clean. So if I’m team Jake Paul and we’re looking at a ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez or a Badou Jack next, I’m thinking, when the fight gets into the deep waters, we need to learn how to be defensively responsible.”

Jake Paul and his ceiling in the boxing game according to Davis

Getting into the somewhat complicated subject of who could be lined up as the next dance partner for Paul, Davis continued,

“This is where we get into the topic of Jake Paul’s ceiling, I don’t know if he can do that. Dylan, you know this, when you pick up a sport, anything in the combat sports realm, you kind of run into that, ‘that’s it. This is where my technique stops and plateaus.’ I think we’ve seen that with Jake Paul. So I don’t know what really could be next successfully for him, right. I think he can go get knocked out by Canelo, he can go get knocked out by Anthony Joshua, Badou Jack or ‘Zurdo’. But in terms of opponents he can win against in legit world ranking that’s where I find a bit of a dissonance.”

  • Luke Rockhold Ready To Throw Kicks In His Boxing Match Against Darren Till

Luke Rockhold Ready To Throw Kicks In His Boxing Match Against Darren Till

Luke Rockhold suggests that the incident that he and Darren Till recently got into might very well be a preview of how chaotic their upcoming boxing match will be.

Rockhold and Till got into a physical altercation at a recent press conference ahead of their fight that main events Misfits Boxing 22: Ring of Thrones on August 30.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Rockhold says that based on what he saw in Till at that press conference, as well as the negotiations and discussions about what weight the fight would take at, he questions if Till is preparing for the fight with true intent.

“It’s always good to get your eyes on the man you’re going to fight. I think he’s a little scared. He’s making a lot of excuses and he’s making up a lot of things in his head. So we’ll see what he comes with.

“He’s looking a little fat right now, so we’ll see how seriously he’s taking this thing. I’ve been working my a** off.”

Luke Rockhold Ready For Anything Darren Till Throws At Him At Misfits Boxing 22

The fight with Till will mark the professional boxing debut for Rockhold, the former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion. Since parting ways with the UFC in 2022, Rockhold has lost to Mike Perry in a BKFC bout and defeated Joe Schilling in Karate Combat.

Meanwhile, Till, the former UFC welterweight title challenger, won an exhibition bout with Mohammad Mutie (a fight that resulted in a post-match brawl) before victories over Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart earlier this year.

When discussing his strategy for the fight with Till, Rockhold said it will boil down to offensive pressure.

“I plan on bullying him around,” Rockhold said. “He don’t like pressure. He likes his space. I’m going to pimp him a bit, I’m going to feel him out, but I feel like I’m going to push the pressure, control him, and big brother him a bit.

“I plan on out-boxing him. I’m going to relax. I’m going to be myself. You got to respect Till; he’s got good hands. So, I got to get in his head, play the game, and look to execute. I think I can knock him out. I’m going to fight to win.”

Rockhold added that while it may not be a boxing match, and not an MMA one, he won’t be prepared to bring out MMA weaponry if he needs to.

Till, in fact, once was scheduled to face Tommy Fury before Fury withdrew, claiming he wouldn’t fight Till after Till’s promise to resort to “MMA tactics” if behind on the scorecards.

“If Darren wants to throw kicks, we can throw kicks,” Rockhold said. “No disqualification for kicks as long as he throws first.”

Misfits Boxing 22: Game of Thrones takes place on August 30 from the AO Arena in Manchester, England. The card will also feature Tony Ferguson taking on Salt Papi in the co-main event, as well as Dillon Danis’ return against Warren Spencer. The card can be viewed on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

  • Former UFC Heavyweight on Oleksandr Usyk Intel From โ€˜The Smashing Machineโ€™ Set

Former UFC Heavyweight on Oleksandr Usyk Intel From โ€˜The Smashing Machineโ€™ Set

Oleksandr Usyk is not just the undisputed heavyweight champion in the boxing world for a second time but he is also branching out into the film world through The Smashing Machine and a fellow co-star has offered up some on-set insights with the Ukrainian pugilist. During an interview with MMA Canada, Caio Machado touched on multiple topics ahead of his UAE Warriors debut that saw him finish Kevin Oumar at UAE Warriors 61 on July 23rd.

Oleksandr Usyk portrays Igor Vovchanchyn in the film while Machado depicts Pete Williams in this cinematic project helmed by The Rock starring titular figure, ‘The Smashing Machine’ Mark Kerr. When the former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight fighter was asked if he had any interactions with Usyk while both were filming on-set for this looming effort from Seven Bucks Productions, Machado said,

“By proxy in a certain way. Myself, I didn’t have any scene with him. Didn’t get the chance to talk to him or even interact in any way. But my coach at the time, Chris Franco, he played Igor Vovchanchyn’s coach in the movie. So he was side by side with Usyk all over the shooting. So he picked his brain, we worked a couple of combos off of his movement, also from a lighter southpaw heavyweight kind of fighter. So it was by proxy, I got able to absorb some things from him but myself, didn’t get the chance.”

Oleksandr Usyk’s mandatory challenger and a prominent party lacking interest in that bout

Oleksandr Usyk is on the heels of an emphatic finish over Daniel Dubois in their rematch with Usyk becoming undisputed champ at heavyweight for a second time but he may end up having to possibly forfeit one of the belts considering the current landscape. Joseph Parker is currently the WBO mandatory with the WBO committee putting out a formal press release indicating their desire for negotiations to begin to lock in an Usyk vs. Parker bout.

Then curiously enough The Ring Magazine put it out there that Riyadh Season Sela has no interest in pursuing Parker versus Usyk next even though it has the most athletic meritocracy of any possible challenger out there right now. Ring Magazine is a media outlet that is now owned by Turki Alalshikh who is the financial driving force for these Riyadh Season fights. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the heavyweight title landscape going forward with all of the outlined machinations that are at play.

  • TKO-Backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act Introduced In U.S. Congress To Bring UFC Structure To Sport, Boxing Community Split

TKO-Backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act Introduced In U.S. Congress To Bring UFC Structure To Sport, Boxing Community Split

The United States Congress has introduced a bipartisan bill that would create new legislation targeted toward the sport of boxing.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act would create Unified Boxing Organizations (UBOs) that would serve as alternative systems to the alphabet sanctioning organizations that currently govern the sport — the WBA, IBF, WBC, and WBO. The bill would allow a UBO to run events, as well as award its own championships and control its own rankings independent of those of the sanctioning bodies. Fighters would be allowed to enter the professional ranks through either the UBO system or the current system with the sanctioning bodies.

ESPN notes that the bill also require boxers to be compensated $150 per round. According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, most states don’t have required minimums, and six states that do have theirs set below $150.

The bill was introduced by Congressman Brian Jack of Georgia and Sharice Davids, a Republican and Democrat, respectively. Davids has competed in two MMA fights professionally, while Jack has been a long-time fan of boxing.

“To me, boxing is dying in America,” Rep. Jack told ESPN. “Every metric would affirm it’s in a steady decline. Pay-per-view numbers are down, HBO and Showtime have exited the sport. ESPN’s deal with Top Rank Promotions is expiring in August. The ambiguity of current regulations have stifled U.S. investments and we are proposing a bipartisan solution.”

Top Rank Boxing’s card this Saturday, July 26, will mark the final on ESPN since the two sides’ broadcasting agreement began back in 2017. Following this event, no major U.S. broadcaster will have boxing on their network.

Bipartisan Boxing Bill Introduced In U.S. Congress Draws Split Reactions Among Boxing Community

Rep. Jack added on, telling Mike Coppinger of Ring Magazine: “The tenant that will generate the most interest is establishing a regulatory framework for alternative systems to exist. And our perspective, some of the greatest legal minds of Capital Hill’s perspective is that current law (โ€˜96 Ali Act) is ambiguous and this law is needed to clarify whether or not unified boxing organizations can exist…”

The Act reportedly is intended to expand on the original Muhammad Ali Act, passed in 2000, which itself expanded on the 1996 Professional Boxing Safety Act. The Muhammad Ali Act made boxing the only professional sport regulated in the U.S. by Congress — and the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act would be the first piece of legislation since.

Various voices in the combat sports world — including BoxRec’s Grey Johnson, Erik Magraken of Combat Sports Law, and Patrick Stumberg of Bad Left Hook — have expressed concerns regarding the new bill, however.

Magraken, among the others, feel that such a bill opens the door to potential exploitation of fighters that has been prevalent in MMA.

“Boxers compete for titles. Promoters compete for boxers,” Makragen wrote on social media. “If promoters own and control titles then boxers can be exploited by promoters.”

He also notes that the bill requires “the boxer has access to equipment and facilities that are operated by the UBO for training and rehabilitation” — which immediately drew a comparison to the UFC Performance Institute.

In the wake of the bill’s news, the Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association promoted a petition on its social media page, urging fighters to come forward and “please sign our petition in support of the real fighter protection billโ€”not the bill designed to exploit you and extend their monopoly to boxing.” This refers to expanding the original Muhammad Ali Act into MMA to end exploitations of fighters — their limitations, pay issues, and lack of benefits.

Also on that note, the timing of this bill is noteworthy, with TKO Boxing set to promote Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford this September in its first big event. TKO Boxing is led by Dana White, UFC CEO and President, and Turki Alalshikh, Chariman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. White has been a huge fan of boxing but previous ventures to become a promoter in the sport — most notably with Zuffa Boxing in 2017 — made no substantial progress.

A TKO spokesperson stated the following to ESPN: “We thank Rep. Jack and Rep. Davids for their vision in leading this bipartisan effort to bring innovation to the sport of boxing for the first time in 25 years. This is a thoughtful solution that preserves the original Ali Act of 2000 while providing boxers with access to more choices and opportunities, greater health and safety protections and better pay for up-and-coming fighters.

“We are proud to support the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act alongside the remarkable Lonnie Ali and the Association of Boxing Commissions in the effort to help restore boxing to its rightful place of prominence in America.”

In May, a five-tier pay structure for TKO Boxing was revealed that included boxer purses ranging from $20,000 for unranked boxers, to $750,000 for the promotion’s champions.

Sports Illustrated adds that the bill will also set a $25,000 health coverage minimum for injuries sustained during a fight, a total that is higher than the minimums set in 43 states. In UBOs, fighters who get injured during training would also receive health coverage.

There would reportedly also be stringent anti-doping testing and anti-betting policies fighters would be required to follow. Fighters, however, would not be required to pay sanctioning fees.

When describing what the model would look like for TKO Boxing, in its introductory March press conference, White stated: “Everybody knows the formatโ€”the best fight the best,” White said in March. “You work your way up the rankings, and once somebody breaks into the top five [and] there is no question [about] who the best five guys are in each weight class, they fight it out. And once somebody holds that belt, you don’t need three letters in front of the belt. Whoever has that belt is the best in the world in that weight class. It’s a very simple model.”

Stumberg, however, has pointed out various recent times in which this was not always the case, the most prominent being the Jon Jones-Tom Aspinall saga, as well as Sean O’Malley recent bantamweight title shot against Merab Dvalishvili — with O’Malley receiving a title rematch despite not fighting since the loss (while Dvalishvili had to go through a title defense against Umar Nurmagomedov).

As noted, the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) and Lonnie Ali, the wife of the late Muhammad Ali, have both voiced their support of the bill.

“The sport of boxing provided a pathway for Muhammad to become a global sports and cultural icon,” Lonnie Ali said. “Boxing elevated his public platform and gave voice to his fight for civil rights. If Muhammad was with us today, he would want to ensure the sport of boxing in America remained strong and viable for generations to come, providing opportunities for other athletes to pursue their goals and dreams, just like he did.

“Given its enhanced protections for boxers, I believe Muhammad would be proud to have his name associated with this bill.”

Congress is set to be in recess for August, so the bill will most likely be acted upon by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce in the fall.

Jon Jones’ Future: A Boxing Attempt Would Destroy Legacy, Says World Champion Boxer

Former boxing champion Amir Khan doesn’t think that Jon Jones should make a run in the boxing ring.

As we know, Jon Jones is one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. While that may be a hard pill for a lot of his critics to swallow, it’s the truth. We all know about his many controversies outside of the cage but in it, ‘Bones’ was able to build something special – with the majority of his work coming at light heavyweight.

After retiring from the sport, many have wondered what could be next for Jon Jones. It seems as if he’s interested in a UFC White House fight next summer, but Dana White seemingly doesn’t quite trust him enough to put him on that card – for now, anyway. There’s always a chance he could venture into boxing, but again, there’s a lot of unpredictability there.

In a recent interview courtesy of Genting live casinos, the aforementioned Amir Khan gave his thoughts on Jon Jones possibly testing the waters in the boxing realm.

Amir Khan warns Jon Jones against boxing

โ€œThere’s no one touching him, honestly, one of the best, and put him in a room with anyone. He’s knocking them out. He’s cleaning him out. He’s very dangerous.

โ€œHe’s one guy you don’t want to meet in a backstreet, no matter who you are, even if it’s like a Mike Tyson, but he’s not going to be the same animal in the boxing ring.

โ€œHe’s gonna make himself stupid. I don’t think he ever needs to do that, because he’s only going to mess his own legacy up.โ€

Does Nate Diaz Have What It Takes to Battle Topuria in the Octagon – or Canelo/Crawford in the Ring? Stockton Slugger Eyeing All Options in 2025

Former UFC star Nate Diaz wants to get back to active competition – and it’s safe to say that he’s got a lot of big plans for when he does.

As we know, Nate Diaz is a big fan favorite in the world of mixed martial arts. He’s achieved some incredible things throughout the course of his iconic career, and the masses adore him for doing so. While he may never have quite reached the top of the mountain, he certainly became one of the biggest household names in the wake of his two-fight series with Conor McGregor.

Nowadays, though, Nate Diaz is outside of the UFC looking in. He’s made it clear that he’s interested in a comeback at some point in the future but in equal measure, he’s also pretty interested in the idea of carrying on with boxing.

In a recent interview, Nate Diaz opened up on a few of the potential opponents he could face in the middle of the cage or ring.

Nate Diaz wants to shake things up

โ€œI would fight, with all due respect to them, Ilia Topuria. Heโ€™s doing a really good job. Heโ€™s a little small for me. On the boxing side, obviously Canelo or Crawford. I ainโ€™t asking for nothing but, when I whoop someoneโ€™s ass, Iโ€™m gonna get them motherf***ers too. You know what Iโ€™m saying? With all due respect. So, thatโ€™s my plan. Those are probably the best fights.โ€

Turki Alalshikh Will Only Stay In Boxing Until He Gets Bored – Says World Champion Boxer

Turki Alalshikh will only be involved in the boxing industry for an inherently finite amount of time according to a decorated champion within the sweet science. In an interview with midnite.com, George Groves touched on several subjects of intrigue across the Queensbery Rules landscape. When speaking at a Midnite Q&A event regarding Alalshikh’s prevelance in boxing today and the history of prizefighters chasing massive prizes, Groves said,

โ€œEveryoneโ€™s desperate to be part of Riyadh Season, desperate to be friends with Turki Alalshikh because heโ€™s got so much money. But at some point heโ€™s going to get bored of running at a loss so maybe thatโ€™s why Dana Whiteโ€™s on his way in.

โ€œEvery now and again you get a gift in boxing and you get overpaid. DAZN came in โ€˜Weโ€™ve got a billion dollarsโ€™. Great, a quarter of that is going to Canelo. Who else are you going to sign? You sign two more fighters and theyโ€™re going to want the same as Canelo and youโ€™ve got no money left.

โ€œBefore them it was PBC who came in with massive investment. MTK was throwing money around. This stuff doesnโ€™t last forever.

โ€œTyson Fury does a deal with ESPN and heโ€™s allegedly getting ยฃ80 million over three years or five fights. The first few fights are just the gifts, the puddings, and then youโ€™ve got to fight Wilder – it can be hard.

โ€œItโ€™s like โ€˜Iโ€™m getting the same money to fight this donut and to fight this fella who might take my head off.โ€

Turki Alalshikh and Dana White not a good fit for boxing, per Groves

Turki Alalshikh and Dana White, with specific focus on the latter, seems like a force that will do more harm than good for the boxing industry according to George Groves. The former WBA titleholder expounded upon this thought process at the same Midnite Q&A event as Groves stated [via MMA Knockout on SI],

“I always look at boxing from the boxerโ€™s point of view and not the fanโ€™s point of view. To get the very best fights you have to build fighters properly to get them being at their very best.”

“So all these โ€˜Records donโ€™t matter, put them in early,โ€™ you ruin fighters by putting them in early in too tougher tests or 50/50 fights. Someoneโ€™s going to suffer.”

“The money that the UFC fighters are paid compared to boxers is incomparable – itโ€™s peanut. Thatโ€™s why anyone that gets a big enough name in the UFC transitions over to boxing like Conor McGregor or what not.”

“I wouldnโ€™t say he is good for boxing, but thatโ€™s from a boxerโ€™s point of view and not a fanโ€™s point of view. But I donโ€™t think heโ€™ll be able to complete boxing, I donโ€™t think anyone can.”

  • BKFC Stalwart Watched Big UFC 317 Headliner Over Paul-Chavez Jr. โ€œIโ€™m Not a Fan of the Paul Brothersโ€

The headliner for UFC 317 was the more compelling contest to watch compared to Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which took place on the same night, in the eyes of one of BKFC’s more tenured fighters. Appearing on Bare Knuckle Bowker, Erick Lozano touched on multiple topics heading into his clash with bare-knuckle boxing debutant Alessio Sakara at BKFC Philly on July 25th.

Among his lengthy run with the promotion, the established veteran of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship had a hugely exciting fight with Jake Bostwick that saw Lozano generate an incredible, gritty performance in the BKFC 45 co-main event clash in June 2023. Bostwick had previously got into a heated sparring session with Jake Paul before Paul’s Ben Askren fight in April 2021 with the Bostwick-Paul sparring work getting some media attention at the time.

In that context, when asked for his thoughts on the recent Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. boxing bout that took place at the end of June, Erick Lozano said,

“I didn’t get a chance to catch it [Paul vs. Chavez Jr.] but I heard about it. They said that pretty much Chavez [Jr.] didn’t go out there and perform to his ability. I was more watching the; what was it? [Charles] Oliveira vs. [Ilia] Topuria in the main event for the UFC [UFC 317] rather than watching the Chavez [Jr.]-Paul fight. I’m not a fan of the Paul brothers, so.”

BKFC combatant heaps massive praise on Ilia Topuria

When asked a follow up question on the BKB podcast regarding what he enjoyed from the UFC’s International Fight Week offering, Erick Lozano stated,

“I just got to watch the main event. That’s the one I wanted to watch. I knew; I called [Ilia] Topuria finishing him in the first round. I think he’s a well rounded fighter. Right now, I think he’s the number one pound for pound fighter in the world. Right now if I had to line them up, he’d be my number one fighter.”

“No Fighter In Boxing History Has Been Robbed More” – Fans React As Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios Goes To A Controversial Majority Draw

Manny Pacquiao put on a solid showing for his age; however, his fight vs. Mario Barrios has a result few, if any, will be happy with.

The WBC welterweight title fight between the two ended in a majority draw, allowing Barrios to retain the championship.

Barrios appeared to be trying to size up Pacquiao early in the fight, while Pac-Man got to work, doing most of the landing in the opening two rounds. Barrios picked up the pace in the third, taking the lead on that round before a back-and-forth fourth round that could have fallen either way.

Barrios found success in the fifth round with his right hand, but Pacquiao was finding the speed and still connecting well as the first half of the fight came to a close. After another close round, Pacquiao appeared to outpace Barrios over the next couple of rounds.

Another back-and-forth 10th round was then followed by a last push from Pacquiao in the championship rounds. It would not be enough, however. Barrios would win 115-113 on one scorecard, while the remaining two judges scored the bout 114-114.

This was Pacquiao’s first fight since dropping the WBA welterweight title to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.

Barrios defeated Ugas for the interim WBC welterweight title in September 2023. Last year, he retained the title in a decision over Fabian Maidana and another controversial draw against Abel Ramos on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul.

“An Absolute Disgrace To The Sport” – Fans & Fighters React As Jake Paul Stares Down With New Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk

The eyes of the boxing world were all on Oleksandr Usyk on July 19, as he put a beating on Daniel Dubois en route to a fifth-round knockout to once again become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

In the midst of celebrating Usyk as a GOAT in the sport, thoughts will now turn toward who will be next to face Usyk. And that’s when Jake Paul stepped forward.

Paul was present in Saudi Arabia for the Usyk-Dubois 2 showdown and entered the ring following the fight, staring down with the new two-time undisputed heavyweight champion and indicating his intentions to challenge the Ukranian world champion.

Paul stated his intentions are to face former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua next and challenging Usyk.

On social media, however, Paul stated he’s like to face Usyk in an MMA bout.

Boxing World Reacts To Jake Paul Staring Down Oleksandr Usyk After Undisputed Heavyweight Title Win

Jake Paul fought Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. last month, taking a decision win in a highly lackluster, one-sided affair. The WBA has since ranked Paul at No. 14 in its cruiserweight rankings, allowing Paul to potentially challenge for a world championship.

What comes next for Usyk if he wants to remain undisputed champion, however, may come at the mercy of others. The WBO has indicated it will enact to make its interim heavyweight champion, Joseph Parker, as the next mandatory challenger for Usyk.

  • Oleksandr Usyk Makes History Again With Round 5 KO Of Daniel Dubois To Reclaim Heavyweight Undisputed Status

Oleksandr Usyk Makes History Again With Round 5 KO Of Daniel Dubois To Reclaim Heavyweight Undisputed Status

Oleksandr Usyk left no room for doubt in his rematch against Daniel Dubois.

On Saturday night at Londonโ€™s Wembley Stadium, Usyk reclaimed his status as the undisputed heavyweight champion with a dominant fifth-round knockout of former foe Dubois.

From the opening bell, “The Cat” took control with a sharp jab and pinpoint counter-punching. While Dubois came forward with intent, he struggled to land anything meaningful against the defensively sound Usyk, who showcased superior speed and movement throughout.

As the bout wore on, Usyk gradually pulled away, exposing the technical gulf between them. His masterful use of timing and angles left “Dynamite” swinging at air. In the fourth round, a brief low-blow controversy added tension, but the undefeated Ukrainian quickly regained control with fluid combinations. By the fifth, “The Cat” ramped up the pressure, first wobbling Dubois with a counter right before landing a devastating left hand that sent the IBF titleholder crashing to the canvas.

Though Dubois beat the count, a second knockdown moments later brought the fight to a halt, sealing a commanding victory for Oleksandr Usyk and cementing his place in history as the first fighter to hold undisputed heavyweight status twice.

Why Did Oleksandr Usykโ€™s First Win Over Daniel Dubois Stir So Much Controversy?

Oleksandr Usyk first faced Daniel Dubois in August 2023 in a closely contested showdown. While both men traded momentum throughout the bout, it was โ€œThe Catโ€ who ultimately prevailed, securing a ninth-round stoppage to retain his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

The fight, however, was marred by controversy in the fifth round when Dubois landed a punch that dropped Usyk to the canvas. The referee ruled the shot a low blow, sparking debate among fans and pundits.

Although Oleksandr Usyk signaled he was ready to continue shortly after, the official advised him to use the allotted recovery time. The Ukrainian ultimately took three minutes and forty-five seconds before action resumed. Regaining control, Usyk went on to force Dubois to take a knee in the eighth round and sealed the win with another knockdown in the ninth, leading to a definitive stoppage.

The aftermath of the bout sparked intense debate, with the fifth-round incident becoming the focal point of controversy. Many observers argued that the punch “Dynamite” landed, which was deemed a low blow, was in fact a legal body shot. Had it been ruled as such, they contended it could have led to a stunning knockout win for Dubois.

“The Greatest Boxer Of All Time” – Fans Sing Praises For Oleksandr Usyk After Defeating Daniel Dubois To Become Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Again

For the third time in his career, something no other man has done in professional boxing, Oleksandr Usyk is an undisputed world champion.

Usyk, the reigning WBA, WBC, and WBO champion has re-captured the undisputed heavyweight world championship of boxing with a fifth-round knockout win over IBF champion Daniel Dubois.

The fight — a second encounter between the two — main evented a big night of boxing action at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The two got off to a speedy start, both flashing their jabs and landing straights, with Usyk’s landing more clean. Dubois was notably reaching with his shots, and Usyk made him pay for that in round two, landing strong left hands.

Dubois started to pick some momentum it seemed in the third round, and he furthered that with some strong body shots in the fourth.

But towards one of the corners of the ring in the fifth round, Usyk landed a left hook that made Dubois stumble and knocked him down.

Usyk landed another left hand seconds later — and this time, Dubois did not beat the count. No fifth-round controversy in sight.

Usyk and Dubois first met for the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles in August 2023. Dubois was in control until a punch in the fifth round was controversially ruled a low blow. Usyk turned the tide and scored knock downs in the eighth and ninth rounds — the latter of which gave Usyk the KO win.

Usyk had since become undisputed champion for the first time by capturing the WBC title with a win over Tyson Fury in May 2024. The reign lasted just a month, however, after Usyk elected a rematch with Fury in December, which he’d also win.

Dubois became IBF champion with a win over Filip Hrgovic in June 2024, and then became full-time champion once the IBF stripped Usyk. Dubois then retained the IBF title last September with a fifth-round knockout of former champ Anthony Joshua.

Former boxing world champion Amir Khan has offered to train Paddy Pimblett ahead of a potential title fight against Ilia Topuria.

As we know, Paddy Pimblett is easily one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts today. Whether you love him or hate him, nobody can deny that he’s done an incredible job of promoting himself – and he’s also worked incredibly hard to get better in the cage.

After his recent win over Michael Chandler, Paddy Pimblett was considered to be a top contender at lightweight. Now, after his long-time rival Ilia Topuria won the belt, it seems as if the UFC is interested in pushing that as the next big title fight at 155 pounds. The two even shared the octagon together following Topuria’s triumph over Charles Oliveira.

Is Dana White Good For Boxing? Former Champion Says He Will Not Help The Sport

Former boxer George Groves has given his thoughts on whether or not UFC boss Dana White would be good for the sport.

As we know, Dana White’s first love in combat sports was boxing. He attempted to break in many years ago but instead, opted to go down the path of mixed martial arts. Ever since then, he’s helped grow the Ultimate Fighting Championship to a point where they are now considered to be one of the biggest sporting organizations in the world – and financially, that certainly isn’t an exaggeration.

In addition to that, Dana White is still very interested in the idea of getting into the boxing market. He’s dipped his toe in before but now, it seems like he’s more serious than ever. During a recent Q&A event with Midnite, George Groves gave his thoughts on the UFC’s model and White as a whole.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois 2 Results & Highlights

The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois to determine an undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing goes down tonight, and MMA News has you covered with all the action.

All four of boxing’s heavyweight world championships will be at stake, as Usyk puts the WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC titles on the line in an attempt to reclaim the IBF belt from a familiar foe in Dubois. The fight takes place from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Usyk and Dubois first met in August 2023 — Usyk’s first fight since beating Anthony Joshua to gain the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles and defend them in a rematch. While Dubois was strong to start, a controversial low blow call for a punch that landed on Usyk in the fifth round saw the momentum shift. Usyk went on to score knockdowns of Dubois in the eighth and ninth, finishing Dubois to retain the title.

About nine months later, Usyk defeated Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to claim the WBC title and become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing since Lennox Lewis. Usyk also became the first heavyweight undisputed champion in the four-belt era, and he joined Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue in becoming a four-belt undisputed champion in a second weight class.

Usyk, however, was only undisputed champion for a month, as the IBF stripped Usyk, who went on to rematch with Fury and retain the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles. Dubois, meanwhile, defeated Filip Hrgoviฤ‡ in June 2024 to become interim IBF heavyweight champion before being promoted to full-time champ. He then retained the IBF title in September with a strong knockout of Joshua.

The Usyk vs. Dubois 2 card is available on DAZN pay-per-view and will begin at 12:30pm ET/9:30am PT/5:30pm BST. Ring walks for the main event are expected at approximately 4:45pm ET/1:45pm PT/9:45pm BST. If you can’t watch the action, MMA News has you covered with all the results and highlights below.

Daniel Dubois Will Create Bedlam To Knock Out ‘Old Man’ Oleksandr Usyk In Rematch: โ€œChaos. For as long as it lasts.โ€

British heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois is predicting that chaos will unfold in his upcoming rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

On Saturday night, Daniel Dubois will try and become the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world. He’ll do so in a highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, which is set to take place at Wembley Stadium. While a lot of people aren’t quite sure what to expect from the bout, the popular opinion seems to be that Usyk is still the favorite, despite the incredible knockout win that Dubois picked up over Anthony Joshua.

Regardless of who you’re backing, there’s no denying that this is an incredibly fascinating contest. These two men have very different styles but together, there’s an excellent chance they can make magic happen. For Daniel Dubois, he knows that the pressure is on the champion – or, at least, that’s how it seems.

In a recent face-off with Usyk, Daniel Dubois explained what he plans to do at the weekend.

Daniel Dubois predicts chaos in Oleksandr Usyk rematch

โ€œI don’t want to even put it down to just being an old man. Iโ€™ve got to prove myself and bring chaos in the ringโ€”what I bring and the force I have, that will be what’s needed. I stand more to gain. He’s at the end of his career. I stand more to gain from a win; getting all the belts, that means… thatโ€™s the start for me, really.โ€

โ€œChaos. For as long as it lasts.โ€

Get ready, folks, because this is going to be a banger.
