  • Jiri Prochazka’s Reaction to UFC 327 Title Fight Captured

Jiri Prochazka’s Reaction to UFC 327 Title Fight Captured

Jiri Prochazka didn’t shy away when receiving his contract for UFC 327. The former light heavyweight champion will face Carlos Ulberg for the vacant title this Saturday in Miami.

The UFC captured the moment Prochazka learned about the fight in recently released footage from the promotion’s Countdown episode. The 33-year-old was shown entering his BJP Institut gym in the Czech Republic when he was handed the contract.

When Prochazka questioned what the document was, he was told it was his new contract for the title fight with Ulberg in Miami. The fighter paused before uttering his signature catchphrase.

Prochazka Signs Contract at Czech Gym

“Let’s go for that,” Prochazka said while slamming his fist on the table and signing the contract. He added “Let’s go for hunt” while sitting in front of the various documents.

The timing of the fight carries additional significance for Prochazka. The due date for his first child falls just two days after UFC 327, making this week perhaps the most important of his life.

Prochazka revealed in recent interviews that he had discussions with the UFC about fighting both Alex Pereira and Ulberg. However, he didn’t know for certain what would be next when he traveled to Mexico to train at altitude.

Former Champion Returns for Vacant Title

Both Prochazka and Ulberg were in attendance when Pereira became a two-time light heavyweight champion. The title became vacant after Pereira moved to heavyweight.

It was only after returning from his training camp that Prochazka received confirmation he would headline the Kaseya Center on April 11. The fight marks his return to title contention in the light heavyweight division.

  • Jiri Prochazka Predicts Alex Pereira Beats Ciryl Gane at UFC White House

Jiri Prochazka Predicts Alex Pereira Beats Ciryl Gane at UFC White House

Jiri Prochazka believes Alex Pereira will make history at UFC White House this summer. The former light heavyweight champion predicts Pereira will defeat Ciryl Gane to become the first fighter to win titles in three UFC weight classes.

“I believe Alex can do that,” Prochazka said on Adin Ross’ Kick stream. “Alex can do that, especially when I saw him, how his weight is going up. He’s strong enough, too, and in the stand-up, I believe he will be better. But Gane is a lot of movement for that.”

Prochazka has faced Pereira twice for the light heavyweight title, losing both times. Those remain the only losses on his UFC record. Despite the setbacks, Prochazka says he’s open to following Pereira to heavyweight in the future.

    Prochazka Eyes Heavyweight Move

“No, I think I have to go to heavyweight,” Prochazka told MMA Junkie. “I really don’t care which weight I’m fighting, but I believe every time light heavyweight shows my best shape.”

The Czech fighter referenced his Rizin experience fighting heavyweights. He believes he can compete at the higher weight class while maintaining speed and endurance advantages.

    UFC 327 Title Fight First

Before any heavyweight plans materialize, Prochazka faces immediate business. This Saturday at UFC 327 in Miami, he challenges Carlos Ulberg for the light heavyweight title that Pereira vacated.

The main event at Kaseya Center represents Prochazka’s chance to reclaim the championship. Pereira moved up to heavyweight after vacating the belt, setting up his interim title fight against Gane at UFC White House.

  • UFC 327 Start Time, Fight Card, How To Watch

Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will compete for the vacant light heavyweight championship at UFC 327 on April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The event marks the second time in less than a year that the venue will host a title fight to crown a new champion.

The main event comes after Alexander Volkanovski defeated Diego Lopes for the vacant featherweight title at the same building in April 2025.

UFC 327 begins with early prelims at 5:30 PM ET, followed by prelims at 7:00 PM ET and the main card at 9:00 PM ET. West Coast viewers can tune in starting at 2:30 PM PST for early prelims, with the main card beginning at 6:00 PM PST.

The event suffered a significant blow one week out when Joshua Van withdrew from his flyweight title defense against Tatsuro Taira in the scheduled co-main event. The matchup has been rescheduled for UFC 328 on May 9 as a co-headlining bout.

The main card features a light heavyweight-heavy lineup. Azamat Murzakanov faces Paulo Costa, while Dominick Reyes meets Johnny Walker in separate 205-pound contests. Curtis Blaydes takes on Josh Hokit at heavyweight, and Cub Swanson battles Nate Landwehr at featherweight in his final UFC fight.

The prelims include Patricio Pitbull versus Aaron Pico at featherweight, Kevin Holland against Randy Brown at welterweight, and Mateusz Gamrot facing Esteban Ribovics at lightweight. Tatiana Suarez meets Loopy Godinez in women’s strawweight action.

  • MMA Fighter Claims He’s Earning 5x More Than UFC Debut Pay On Netflix MVP Card

Kenny Cross has spent years knocking on the door of major promotions, but his breakthrough moment may finally arrive on one of the biggest stages in combat sports.

The 31-year-old prospect is set to compete on May 16 as part of the inaugural Netflix-backed MMA event, a card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. While global stars dominate the spotlight, Cross finds himself in a unique position, stepping into a high-profile opportunity that could redefine his career.

Kenny Cross Says Netflix Payday Surpasses UFC Entry-Level Contract

Cross will face Salahdine Parnasse on the undercard, but it’s not just the matchup that has people talking. It’s the paycheck.

After years of grinding on the regional scene and narrowly missing out on a UFC contract despite a win on Dana White’s Contender Series, “The Boss” revealed that this opportunity is far more lucrative than anything he would have earned as a newcomer in the UFC.

“I’m making five times what a UFC fighter would make in his first fight,” Cross said during an interview with MMA Junkie. “I’m making the whole first contract outside of if they get a bonus. It’s just like all my hard work is finally paying off, and no gatekeeping.”

Despite building a strong 17-4 record and stacking up wins across multiple promotions, Cross has repeatedly found himself overlooked when it came to securing a UFC deal. That frustration has been a recurring theme throughout his career.

“It’s just like, what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I get into the UFC?” Cross said. “Sean Shelby was at my fight and this guy, it’s like, I beat all these guys and I hear that if they beat me, they’re going into the UFC. Then I beat them and it’s just like, I never hear anything.”

From Frustration To opportunity On Global Stage

Kenny Cross’s journey has been anything but straightforward. From a brief stint with Bellator to nearly making it onto The Ultimate Fighter, he has hovered in that difficult space between prospect and breakthrough star.

Now, with Most Valuable Promotions entering the MMA landscape, “The Boss” believes he has finally found the platform he’s been waiting for.

“I lose all my integrity and I lose all my hope, and this kinda gave it all back to me now, so it’s like sunny skies and I’m just excited,” he said.

  • Dana White Candidly Admits He’s No Longer Involved In UFC Fighter Contracts – ‘This Isn’t Fun Anymore’

Dana White Candidly Admits He’s No Longer Involved In UFC Fighter Contracts – ‘This Isn’t Fun Anymore’

Dana White has taken another step back from day-to-day UFC operations, revealing that he is no longer involved in negotiating fighter contracts.

For years, the UFC CEO was seen as the central figure in contract discussions, often playing a direct role in some of the promotion’s biggest deals. However, as the organization has grown into a global powerhouse, his responsibilities have gradually shifted.

Dana White Steps Away From UFC Fighter Contract Negotiations

During a recent appearance on SPEED with Harvick and Buxton, White explained that the decision was intentional and long overdue.

“I have completely removed myself from the negotiating part of fighter contracts,” White said. “I got to a point where, ‘This isn’t fun anymore, man.’ I’m lucky that I’m at a point in my life and in my career where I can just deal with the fun stuff that I like to do.”

The change reflects how much the UFC has evolved from its early days. The 56-year-old American businessman recalled a time when the promotion operated on a much smaller scale, allowing him to build close personal relationships with fighters such as Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, and later stars like Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey. Back then, fighters often turned to him directly, not just for business matters, but for personal support as well.

Today, with the UFC managing a massive roster and operating under the TKO Group umbrella, contract negotiations have been delegated to other executives within the company. While White did not specify who now handles those responsibilities, the shift signals a broader restructuring behind the scenes.

Despite stepping away from negotiations, the UFC head honcho remains heavily involved in shaping the promotion’s direction. He continues to serve as the public face of the UFC and plays a key role in major decisions related to events and overall strategy.

At the same time, this is not the only area where White has taken a step back. Earlier this year, it was reported that he is no longer actively involved in UFC matchmaking either, further highlighting his move away from operational duties that once defined his role.

  • Renato Moicano Sends Chilling Message To Former Opponent After UFC Vegas 115 Win – ‘I Want To Kill This Motherf*cker’

Renato Moicano wasted no time making a statement at UFC Vegas 115, but it wasn’t just the win that grabbed attention. It was what came after.

Coming off a tough stretch in the main event of UFC Vegas 115 on Saturday night, the Brazilian lightweight bounced back in emphatic fashion, finishing Chris Duncan via second-round submission after dropping him earlier in the fight.

The performance re-established Moicano as a dangerous presence in the division, but his focus quickly shifted beyond rankings or momentum.

Renato Moicano Targets Former Foe Brian Ortega After UFC Vegas 115 Win

Moments after his victory, Renato Moicano made it clear that one name sits above all others on his list: Brian Ortega.

“There is one motherf*cker who I have bad blood [with] and his name is Brian Ortega,” Moicano said. “He ran the first time. I was beating him the first time. He got me OK, fair enough, but it was my first defeat. Now I want revenge. I want his head. I want to kill this motherf*cker.”

The rivalry dates back to UFC 214, where the two first met in a featherweight bout. The former UFC lightweight title challenger was ahead before “T-City” secured a third-round submission, handing him the first loss of his professional career.

Nearly a decade later, the MMA promotion attempted to revisit that matchup at UFC 326. However, the rematch was scrapped after Ortega withdrew due to lingering injuries, leaving Moicano without the opportunity to settle the score.

Moicano Eyes Multiple Opponents, But Revenge Tops The List

While revenge appears to be the driving force, the 36-year-old did not shy away from sizing up other contenders in the lightweight division.

“Dan Hooker, f*cking easy money,” Moicano said. “Paddy Pimblett, fcking easy money. Benoit Saint Denis, f*cking easy money.”

Despite naming several potential opponents, Moicano admitted that no fight carries the same weight as facing Ortega again.

“I think Dan Hooker would be even easier, but at the same time, it was my first loss,” he said. “Brian Ortega, especially because he’s coming to lightweight. I like fighting. I like that matchup. We were supposed to fight, so I don’t know. I don’t know what happened to him. He just pulled out of the fight, but I think we have unfinished business.”

With his victory at UFC Vegas 115, Moicano has rebounded from a two-fight losing streak and now improves his record to 13-7 inside the promotion.

  • Brendan Schaub Blasts Nate Diaz For Targeting Daniel Cormier – ‘Every Guy He Talks About Is Better’

Brendan Schaub Blasts Nate Diaz For Targeting Daniel Cormier – ‘Every Guy He Talks About Is Better’

Brendan Schaub has weighed in strongly on the ongoing back-and-forth between Nate Diaz and Daniel Cormier, and he’s made it clear where he stands.

The recent feud kicked off after Diaz took aim at analysts, singling out Cormier, who responded by calling him “average.” That exchange quickly gained traction, but Schaub believes “The Stockton Slugger” picked the wrong target this time.

Brendan Schaub Says Nate Diaz Crossed The Line Going At Daniel Cormier

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Schaub didn’t hold back while defending the UFC Hall of Famer’s legacy and credentials.

“I think for some people it works. Like, some people are like, ‘F*ck yeah, man, f*ck those guys.’ It’s his thing, and it’s working; he’s making money, so I don’t hate on him for any of that,” Schaub said. “The issue is these guys that he’s talking sh*t about are, if you know anything about the sport of mixed martial arts, every guy he talks shit about is a better fighter and has a better career. So that’s why he’s going for those guys. He’s just barking up the wrong tree when he talks sh*t to Daniel Cormier. You’re talking about MMA royalty.”

The former UFC heavyweight fighter’s core argument centered around the difference between popularity and accomplishment. While Diaz has built a massive fanbase and delivered some of the sport’s most memorable moments, “Big Brown” insists that doesn’t automatically translate into all-time greatness.

“So, Nate Diaz had a good career. Just so you’re aware, he will never make it to the Hall of Fame as an individual fighter,” Schaub said. “Now, maybe his fight against one of his previous opponents, maybe Conor McGregor, he might have a fight to make the Hall of Fame, but as far as him as individual accomplishments, he won’t make the UFC Hall of Fame. That’s just not real. That will never happen.”

Schaub doubled down on the idea that the former UFC lightweight title challenger’s status comes more from star power than résumé, especially when compared to someone like “DC”, a former two-division champion who transitioned into one of the UFC’s leading analysts.

The MMA fighter turned stand-up comedian also suggested Diaz may be taking analyst criticism too personally, rather than recognizing it as part of the job.

“For him, he’s like, ‘Yo, these analysts breaking down fights, I don’t get it. F*ck these guys,’” Schaub explained. “Yeah, but they’re not criticizing you. It’s literally their job they’re getting paid for, so I think he takes it personal.”

  • Jon Jones Responds to Viral Road Rage Video in Albuquerque: ‘I’m Proud of Myself’

Jon Jones Responds to Viral Road Rage Video in Albuquerque: ‘I’m Proud of Myself’

Jon Jones recently responded to a viral video showing an alleged road rage incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, telling fans he was “proud of myself” for how he handled the confrontation. The former Light Heavyweight Champion was filmed exchanging words with a local car salesman after an apparent driving dispute.

Bryan Beltran, an Albuquerque car salesman, dropped a video footage of himself confronting a driver he claimed nearly hit his vehicle multiple times near Central Avenue and Eubank.

The driver appeared to be Jones, who can be heard in the video saying “You gotta calm down, bro. You gotta relax yourself, bro” before giving an obscene gesture and walking away.

    Jon Jones Responds

Jones confirmed his involvement in the incident on social media, offering his version of events.

“This kid proceeded to chase my car down for two blocks, revving his engine and trying to intimidate me,” Jones wrote on X.

“I am glad this happened to me and not one of the senior citizens in our community. I am proud of myself for standing up for myself and not allowing that kind of bullying or intimidation.”

Beltran claimed Jones nearly hit his vehicle three times while driving on Central Avenue. According to his Instagram post, he revved his engine after the first near-collision, but the truck driver allegedly came close to hitting him twice more.

Despite the heated exchange, Beltran stated he holds no animosity toward the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion.

Beltran expressed hope for a peaceful resolution, adding:

“Hopefully, soon I’ll make another video where we can maybe shake hands and ‘squash the beef.’”

The incident marks another controversial moment for Jones, who has had multiple legal issues throughout his career.

  • Jiri Prochazka Gets Honest About Unusual Training Habits Ahead Of UFC 327 – ‘This Is Really Not Smart’

Jiri Prochazka Gets Honest About Unusual Training Habits Ahead Of UFC 327 – ‘This Is Really Not Smart’

Jiri Prochazka has built a reputation for unconventional training methods throughout his MMA career, and the former UFC light heavyweight champion recently explained the philosophy behind his extreme approach.

“BJP” has become known for pushing physical and mental boundaries, from trekking alone into mountains without maps to swimming 30 meters beneath frozen lakes.

During a recent appearance on the Dan Le Batard Show, Prochazka addressed the attention surrounding his unconventional training habits. When his methods were labeled as “crazy,” he rejected that notion and offered his own perspective on the approach.

“Crazy for who?” Prochazka said. “Maybe crazy for somebody who doesn’t know that. Every high-level athlete, the sport on the top level is not so healthy, not so usual, not so normal. That’s why we have to be a little bit above the normal line. And I like to go through these levels, which is behind normal.”

    Confronting Fear Through Extreme Challenges

For Jiri Prochazka, the extreme training serves a specific purpose: confronting and controlling fear. He described his ice-swimming challenge from last year as a transformative experience that provided knowledge beyond his imagination.

“I like the challenges. It’s terrifying, but it’s about calm the mind in every aspect of your life,” Prochazka explained. “These challenges gave me the opportunity to control myself as much as I can. So, that’s why I do these things. And this challenge, last year, swimming under the ice, was like when you’re trying something for the first time in your life. Like sex. You do that, and then you know. Until that moment, you don’t know, you have just an imagination about that. But after that, you really know what it’s about.”

While the 33-year-old Czech native stands by his unconventional approach, he acknowledged that maturity and impending fatherhood have brought perspective. He admitted some past decisions, particularly solo mountain expeditions without proper preparation, were reckless.

“I would do all of these things, but what I learned: do it more professionally,” Prochazka said. “I did many times, I just took the bag and all this equipment, and I just went to the mountains somewhere. I didn’t take a map, I just went to the mountains, and I lost myself, and I just tried to survive there for a few days, and it was not fun. It was just not funny. It just survives. This is not smart. This is really not smart, because you have to know the rules.”

Prochazka is set to face Carlos Ulberg for the vacant light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 327 this Saturday at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

“BJP” was last seen in action at UFC 320 in October 2025, where he secured a knockout win over Khalil Rountree Jr. He currently holds a 6-2 record in the UFC, with both of his losses coming against Alex Pereira.

  • “One-Way Traffic” – Renato Moicano Batters Chris Duncan

“One-Way Traffic” – Renato Moicano Batters Chris Duncan

Facing a short-notice teammate in Chris Duncan, Renato Moicano still wanted to make a statement. He did just that with a second-round finish of Duncan in the main event of UFC Vegas 115.

After a bit of feeling out, the two did plenty of battling by the fence in a grappling control battle. The first round, however, saw plenty of trading from the two, with Moicano finding better success by working the jab.

Moicano, however, turned things up by cracking Duncan in the second, knocking Duncan down and busting the Scottish fighter open. Moicano threatened a choke, and when he couldn’t get it, he laid in some nasty ground-and-pound on Duncan.

Moicano finally locked the choke in late in the round, getting a quick tap from Duncan for the win.

Renato Moicano Submits Chris Duncan In UFC Vegas 115 Main Event

Moicano rebounds after a pair of losses in 2025, losing a short-notice lightweight title fight with Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 and dropping a decision to Beneil Dariush at UFC 317.

Duncan sees a four-fight win streak snapped tonight. He entered this fight off a finish of Terrance McKinney at UFC 323.

“Dominant” – Virna Jandiroba Bests Tabatha Ricci At UFC Vegas 115

Virna Jandiroba showed why she’s one of the top contenders at strawweight, scoring a one-sided win over Tabatha Ricci in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 115.

Jandiroba got off to a strong start, grabbing a hold of Ricci and scoring a pair of takedowns, making Ricci work back to her feet and out of her grasp. Ricci started to find the mark, working combinations and a couple of knees, but Jandiroba got behind Ricci and brought her back to the mat with more dominating control.

Jandiroba did some striking to start round two, which set up a takedown that resulted in Jandiroba dominating most of the second from the ground. Ricci attempted to do damage from the bottom, but it was for naught.

Ricci attempted to get the offense going in the third, but it was for naught. Jandiroba held her own on the feet and scored another takedown late in the third, nearly securing a choke in the closing seconds, to take the decision victory.

This was Jandiroba’s first fight since losing a women’s strawweight title bout with Mackenzie Dern at UFC 321. Jandiroba had won five straight before that fight.

Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev Gets Another First-Round Submission

Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev was the heaviest favorite on the UFC Vegas 115 card at -1600, and he showed why with his first-round submission of Brendson Ribeiro.

Ribeiro appeared to clip Yakhayev early, but Yakhyaev quickly cemented his grappling game, resulting in near domination. Ribeiro attempted a kimura, but Yakhayev easily shook that off and worked to the back.

He was able to sink in a rear-naked choke, resulting in a first-round submission.

“Bas Rutten Would Be Proud” – Alessandro Costa Gets Liver Shot KO

Alessandro Costa hasn’t always found success in his UFC tenure thus far, but he had a highlight during the prelims of UFC Vegas 115, putting away Stewart Nicoll with a nasty liver shot.

Costa appeared to be fairly dominant in round one, bringing pressure and calculated striking that outmatched Nicoll’s flashy striking style. The second round proved to be more competitive, with some back-and-forth between the two.

Costa, however, took round two over when he added successful takedown attempts.

Then, in the closing seconds of the round, Costa landed a punch that went directly to the liver of Nicoll, causing him to crumble down in pain.

Alice Pereira is not related to Alex Pereira, but the knockout she delivered to Hailey Cowan during the UFC Vegas 115 prelims will have people continuously making comparisons.

Pereira’s power was on display from the opening minute of the fight, as she poured on shots on Cowan. Cowan was cut around her face and bruised in the opening round, as Pereira easily shoved off her grappling attempts and landed strikes aplenty.

Cowan got the fight to the ground in the second with a slam, but she didn’t do much with ground control as Pereira worked her way back to her feet.

Then, in the last minute of round two, Pereira landed a vicious knee that put Cowan’s lights out, sealing the victory for “Golden Girl.”

  • Tresean Gore Scores Upset With Submission Of Azamat Bekoev

Tresean Gore Scores Upset With Submission Of Azamat Bekoev

Though the UFC Vegas 115 prelim between Azamat Bekoev and Tresean Gore seemed one-sided on paper, Gore put on arguably the best performance of his career, ending with a major upset victory via submission.

Bekoev came out on the front foot early, applying his signature pressure on Gore over the course of the first two rounds. Bekoev looked to land power early and work the body, forcing Gore to counterstrike for success.

To Gore’s credit, he did find success there, and round two proved to be a firefight. Bekoev scored a knockdown on Gore, and he landed a pair of takedowns, and he looked to be going toward a win.

But Gore focused on leg kick attacks, and that did enough to wear him down. Gore scored a pair of takedowns during the fight as well, and one of those in the third round started a sequence that ended in him choking out Bekoev for the late submission victory.

Gore was approximately a +450 underdog on most sportsbooks entering the fight.

The alumnus of The Ultimate Fighter season 29 improves to 6-4 in his career and has won three of his last five.

After coming into the UFC off a strong win streak with an LFA title to his credit, Bekoev has now been finished in back-to-back fights. He is 2-2 in the UFC and entered tonight’s fight off a loss to Yousri Belgaroui in October.

  • UFC Flyweight Champion Joshua Van Out Of Title Defense At UFC 327

UFC Flyweight Champion Joshua Van Out Of Title Defense At UFC 327

UFC 327 has taken a major hit, as the UFC flyweight championship co-main event will not go on as scheduled.

Per a report from Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van has withdrawn from next weekend’s numbered UFC card.

As of press time, there is no word on why Van has withdrawn. Cruz’s report cites “undisclosed reasons.”

It is also unclear if planned title challenger Tatsuro Taira will fight for an interim title or if the planned Van vs. Taira title fight will be pushed back to another card.

Some members of the MMA community on social media, including Magic M and Caposa, seemed to have hinted at the latter.

This was to be Van’s first defense of the UFC flyweight title. He won the belt at UFC 323 after Alexandre Pantoja suffered an injury during their fight.

That same night, Taira earned a title shot by finishing former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno.

One title fight for UFC 327 remains — the main event featuring Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg for the to-be-vacant UFC light heavyweight championship.

UFC 327 takes place on April 11 from the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

“Out In The Middle” – Barbosa Beats Gatto Despite Soccer Kick

While the UFC Vegas 115 prelim bout between Dione Barbosa and Melissa Gatto ended in a majority decision, the shock isn’t from the decision itself, but rather the events that led to it.

Gatto seemed to be in control early on, thanks to her sharp counterattacks and her control in the top position. The second round featured plenty of grappling, with Barbosa threatening submissions on multiple occasions. Barbosa continued that momentum into the third round.

The turning point, however, occurred during round two. Barbosa appeared to land a kick to the head of a grounded Gatto, with Gatto going down in a delayed but harsh manner.

Soccer kicks are illegal under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, and it appeared that Gatto would be victorious by disqualification. The ruling, however, was that Gatto was allowed to continue, and Barbosa was only deducted one point for the foul.

Barbosa then went on to win via majority decision, two 29-27 scores in her favor to go alongside a 28-28.

It remains to be seen if Gatto will appeal the decision loss.

Barbosa has now won six of her most recent eight and is 2-2 in her last four.

Gatto has now lost three of her last four.

Gable Steveson Teases UFC Signing ‘Any Day Now’

Gable Steveson continues to generate buzz around his transition to mixed martial arts, and a potential move to the UFC now appears closer than ever.

The Olympic gold medalist has made a strong start to his MMA journey, delivering a string of dominant performances in a short span. Still early in his career, Steveson has already shown flashes of a well-rounded skill set, combining his elite wrestling with improving striking.

The budding heavyweight prospect’s latest outing in February, where he scored a first-round knockout against Hugo Lezama, added to the hype, as he battled through adversity before securing another finish.

While many expected him to shift fully into MMA, Steveson recently signed with Real American Freestyle (RAF) to remain active in wrestling. The move briefly raised questions about his immediate plans, but the 25-year-old quickly clarified that his long-term focus remains unchanged.

Gable Steveson Confirms UFC Talks Progressing

During a recent interview with The Schmo, Gable Steveson made it clear that a UFC opportunity could be right around the corner.

“I got a couple of matches with RAF,” Steveson said. “I told everybody I’m a full-time mixed martial artist, and I would love to keep doing that. But I got good news, any day now.”

Despite returning to wrestling, Steveson views it as a way to sharpen his strengths rather than a shift in direction. His ultimate goal remains firmly set on reaching the top of the UFC.

“I’m doing the RAF to show people that I can still wrestle,” he explained. “I’ll show people that I’m great at wrestling, I’ll show people I’m one of the best heavyweights of all time. But the UFC title is more important to me.”

Steveson made his MMA debut last September and has quickly built a perfect 3-0 record, with all three victories coming via first-round finishes. The Indiana native also scored a blistering 15-second knockout over Billy Swanson while competing under the Dirty Boxing banner.

  • Chael Sonnen Believes Michael Chandler Could Retire If He Loses At UFC Freedom 250

Chael Sonnen Believes Michael Chandler Could Retire If He Loses At UFC Freedom 250

Three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler might be just one loss away from retirement, according to UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen. The 39-year-old lightweight faces Mauricio Ruffy at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 at the White House, and Sonnen believes a loss could end Chandler’s fighting career.

Chandler enters the bout on a three-fight losing streak and has dropped five of his last six UFC appearances. Originally hoping to face Conor McGregor to complete their TUF 31 saga, Chandler instead drew the surging knockout artist Ruffy after UFC president Dana White moved on from the McGregor matchup.

Chael Sonnen Predicts Retirement After Potential Loss

In a recent video, Sonnen explained that Chandler still harbors championship ambitions despite his recent struggles. However, at 39 years old with consecutive setbacks that goal appears increasingly unrealistic.

“Chandler will retire if Ruffy beats him. He likely will, and I do not know if it will necessarily be his choice. Chandler is now 38 years old. Chandler is also gainfully employed by Paramount and is going to be part of the announcing team.”

    Sonnen continued:

“Chandler’s one of those guys who still wants to be a world champion. So if he gets confronted with that’s just not in your future… He likely would say, ‘Fair enough. Give my spot to somebody else.’”

With championship aspirations fading and a dangerous opponent ahead, June 14 could mark the final chapter of Chandler’s fighting career.

  • Yoel Romero Reveals Blueprint to Beat Ilia Topuria

Yoel Romero Reveals Blueprint to Beat Ilia Topuria

Yoel Romero has laid out a blueprint to beat Ilia Topuria ahead of the featherweight champion’s lightweight title unification bout with Justin Gaethje. The former UFC middleweight contender believes targeting high kicks could be the key to defeating the seemingly unstoppable Spaniard.

Topuria faces Gaethje in the main event of UFC White House this June, where he will attempt to unify the lightweight title. The 29-year-old enters the bout as a favorite after knocking out three legends in his last three outings.

High Kick Strategy Could Exploit Topuria’s Defense

Romero outlined his approach in an interview with Overdogs Espanol. The Cuban wrestler emphasized the importance of targeting Topuria’s head with kicks rather than body or leg strikes.

“One thing is imagining his power, another is feeling it,” Romero said. “My plan? Target only high kicks. Not the body, not low. Head kicks to damage the arms and force him to defend. We all know he hits hard.”

Historical Evidence Supports Head Kick Approach

The strategy has merit given Topuria’s UFC history. Jai Herbert came closest to defeating the Spaniard when he dropped him with a head kick at UFC London in 2022, though Topuria recovered to finish the fight.

Alexander Volkanovski employed a similar game plan in his bout with Topuria, utilizing distance striking and kicks. However, executing this strategy against a pressure fighter like Topuria presents significant challenges.

    Gaethje Faces Difficult Task

While Gaethje possesses knockout power in his kicks, most famously putting Dustin Poirier to sleep with a head kick in 2023, implementing Romero’s blueprint may prove difficult. The former interim lightweight champion’s aggressive style could play into Topuria’s hands if he engages in pocket exchanges.

Joe Rogan has stated that a Topuria victory would give him the greatest resume in UFC history. Conversely, a Gaethje win would rank among the biggest upsets in UFC title bout history given the current betting odds.

Renato Moicano vs. Chris Duncan – Featherweight Main Event

Since his famous post-fight interview at UFC 282, Moicano went 3-0 in 2024, bringing him to a four-fight win streak. It was then when he was called on one day’s notice to challenge Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 311.

Moicano lost the fight and has only fought one time since, losing to Beneil Dariush by decision at UFC 317.

Duncan has won six of his seven Octagon bouts, including a current four-fight win streak, since winning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. Duncan enters this fight off a finish of Terrance McKinney at UFC 323.

The co-main event will be a strawweight contenders battle between Virna Jandiroba and Tabatha Ricci.

Jandiroba had won five straight when she and Mackenzie Dern met to determine the new UFC women’s strawweight champion at UFC 321. Jandiroba lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Ricci has won three of her last four. “Baby Shark” enters this matchup off a second-round finish of Amanda Ribas at UFC Abu Dhabi last July.

  • Conor McGregor Leads UFC Fighters in 2026 Drug Tests

Conor McGregor Leads UFC Fighters in 2026 Drug Tests

Conor McGregor has been tested more frequently than any other UFC fighter in 2026, according to recent data. The former two-division champion continues to be subjected to regular drug testing by USADA despite remaining outside the octagon.

McGregor has not competed since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, where he suffered a broken leg. The Irishman remains in the USADA testing pool as an active UFC roster member, requiring him to be available for random drug testing at any time.

    Testing Protocol for Inactive Fighters

UFC fighters who remain under contract must continue to submit to drug testing even during extended periods of inactivity. The frequency of testing can vary based on multiple factors, including an athlete’s profile and competitive history.

    McGregor’s Return Timeline

The former featherweight and lightweight champion has repeatedly discussed returning to competition but has not committed to a specific date or opponent. Any potential comeback would require McGregor to remain compliant with all USADA testing requirements.

The 2026 testing data show that McGregor continues to maintain his eligibility for competition through compliance with regular testing.

  • Undefeated Standout Misses Weight for Third Time at UFC Vegas 115

Undefeated Standout Misses Weight for Third Time at UFC Vegas 115

Rafael Estevam failed to make weight for the third time in his UFC career at the UFC Vegas 115 official weigh-ins on Friday. The undefeated bantamweight came in at 136.5 pounds, half a pound over the limit for his bout against Ethyn Ewing.

Estevam was one of three fighters who missed weight at the close of the first weigh-in window at Meta Apex. Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev weighed in at 207 pounds for his light heavyweight bout, while Darrius Flowers registered 156.5 pounds for his lightweight contest.

    Weight Miss History

This marks Estevam’s third weight miss in the UFC. He has previously failed to make weight twice at 135 pounds and once at 125 pounds.

The UFC announced that Estevam’s bout with Ewing will proceed as a catchweight fight. Estevam will forfeit 20 percent of his purse as a penalty. Flowers’ fight with Lando Vannata will also continue at catchweight under the same financial penalty.

    Main Event Weigh-Ins

Longtime lightweight contender Renato Moicano was the first fighter to weigh in, successfully hitting the mark at 156 pounds. His opponent, Chris Duncan, later registered the same weight for Saturday’s main event.

Strawweight contenders Virna Jandiroba (116) and Tabatha Ricci (115.5) both made weight for the co-main event without issue. Yakhyaev has been cleared to attempt a second weigh-in for his light heavyweight bout against Brendson Ribeiro.

UFC Vegas 115 takes place Saturday at Meta Apex with the main card streaming on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.
