PFL Signs Pair Of UFC Veterans For Women’s Flyweight Division

The PFL’s women’s flyweight division has added a pair of experienced names to its ranks, as Viviane Araujo and Ariane da Silva have signed with the promotion.

Ali Abdelaziz, the manager of both women, confirmed the signings to Sherdog.

The two former UFC stars will add a bit of name power to the PFL’s women’s flyweight division and give some competition for Dakota Ditcheva.

It is currently unclear if one or both of the women will compete in the women’s flyweight World Tournament in 2026 or potential face Ditcheva to determine a PFL women’s flyweight champion.

Viviane Araujo, Ariane Da Silva Sign With PFL

Araujo, the former Pancrase women’s strawweight champion, made her UFC debut at UFC 237 in May 2019, defeating Talita Bernardo. She went 7-6 in the promotion, earning wins over the likes of Alexis Davis, Roxanne Modafferi, Andrea Lee, and Jennifer Maia.

Araujo and the UFC parted ways about two weeks after her loss to Tracy Cortez at UFC 317.

Da Silva (formerly Ariane Lipski) is a former KSW women’s flyweight champion who made her UFC debut in January 2019. She went 6-8 in the promotion with wins over JJ Aldrich and Casey O’Neill, while also having bouts with the likes of Molly McCann, Montana De La Rosa, and Jasmine Jasudavicius.

Da Silva was released by the UFC days after her loss to Wang Cong at UFC 316.

  • Legacy Fighting Alliance announces 7 new bouts for LFA 220 in Phoenix, AZ

Legacy Fighting Alliance announces 7 new bouts for LFA 220 in Phoenix, AZ

The top regional promotion in the United States will return to the Valley of the Sun for LFA 220 on October 25th, at Arizona Financial Theatre. This card will be stacked with both prospects and talented veterans, and during the LFA 218 broadcast on September 27th the promotion announced the first batch of matchups for their return to Arizona.

Headlining the card will be top local prospect Kasey Tanner (8-1), taking on fellow LFA veteran Michael Cyr (8-1). This will be Tanner’s second main event for the promotion, securing a unanimous decision victory in his last headline feature vs Micais Urena. Tanner is one of the most skilled bantamweights in the southwest, and although he suffered his only loss on Dana White’s Contender Series, there is no doubt with a win here the UFC could come calling.

His opponent Michael Cyr, is a submission ace who also comes in with an 8-1 record. Cyr has finished two fighters by twister, which is nearly unheard of in mixed martial arts. He will no doubt be looking to take Tanner down and drown him with his adept submission skills.

In the currently scheduled co-main event, Christian “Hawaiian Punch” Natividad (7-0) will be taking on El Salvador’s Jostin Quilca (9-2). Natividad is undefeated as a professional, with a collegiate wrestling background and fantastic striking. What makes this even more special, is Christian’s brother Kevin Natividad will also be returning to the cage for the first time in over 2 years, following his stint with the UFC.

Kevin Natividad (9-4) was scheduled to face Ryan Kuse at United Fight League 7 on October 10th, but the event was suddenly cancelled, leaving both men without a fight. Luckily the LFA stepped in and rebooked this matchup, for 2 weeks later in the same city. Natividad had great difficulty finding opponents since his UFC stint, suffering multiple cancellations of bouts on the regional scene. “Quicksand” is looking to remind LFA fans what made him so exciting in his first run with the promotion, a well rounded game with fantastic power and strong wrestling. This will be the first time the Natividad brothers will be on the same card since Iron Boy MMA 7 in 2017. On that night, both won by KO.

LFA veteran Kyle Estrada (14-8) will be taking on streaking Mexican fighter Ernesto Ibarra (10-1). Ibarra is riding a five fight winning streak coming into this matchup, primarily on the Mexican regional scene. Estrada is coming off a fantastic third round TKO victory at UFL 6 over Joao Camilo, and looks to prove his is among the elite flyweights in the world. Estrada trains with both the Natividad brothers at both Fight Ready and Arizona Combat Sports.

Chance Ikei (5-0) returns to the LFA cage after winning a fight for California’s 559 Fights promotion. The MMA Lab product is one of the most talented and highly touted prospects from Arizona, with most of his career taking place in the LFA octagon. Currently riding a 10 fight winning streak including his amateur career, there is no doubt “The Typhoon” has his eyes set on the next level. He will be facing Jordan Burkholder (6-2), a fighter out of Jackson Wink who will be returning for his 4th LFA appearance. Burkholder is the reigning Flyweight Champion for the Idaho based Front Street Fights promotion.

Making his LFA debut will be the Yuma, AZ based grappler Richard Mahan, taking on the Brazilian Livio Ribeiro. The homestate favorite Mahan secured a fantastic submission victory at his last bout at UFL 6, and his only professional loss has come to Yevgeni Shinkarevsky, another highly regarded young fighter. He will have his hands full with the undefeated Brazilian Ribeiro, but with a win here Mahan can secure himself as a name to watch on the national stage.

Rounding off the fight accouterments will be Leslie Hernandez (4-3) taking on Flor Hernandez (4-3). Leslie is another representative of the MMA Lab, but has had some difficulty as of late, losing to Julieta Martinez on the contender series and suffering a submission loss at LFA 207 in her last bout. Despite this, she remains extremely talented and one of the most entertaining female strikers to watch on the regional scene. She looks to get back to her winning ways vs Flor Hernandez, who is currently riding a four fight losing streak across MMA and Muay Thai.

The LFA remains a breeding ground for some of the top MMA prospects, and without a doubt will deliver more action when the promotion touches down in Phoenix, Arizona on October 25th. You can buy tickets at Arizona Financial Theatre’s website, and watch the prelims live on YouTube with the main card airing on UFC Fight Pass.

  • BKB 46 results: Hawkins and Ronson show out, Juan Adams garners FOTN

BKB 46 results: Hawkins and Ronson show out, Juan Adams garners FOTN

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing made a big impact in its New York debut which took place on Saturday, September 27th. BKB 46 Empire State Brawl transpired at the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino in Salamanca, New York and one of the promotion’s pound for pound ebst fgithers showed out in the headliner.

In the main event of the night, BKB Cruiserweight champion Cub Hawkins showed out in what was the super middleweight debut for the standout fighter. The former BKB Police Gazette diamond light heavyweight champion looks to carve out a path for gold in a third weight class. Hawkins improves his ledger in gloveless combat to 8-1 as he scored a third-round TKO win against Brett Williams.

Jamal Woods would notch his first victory in the Trigon as he dispatched Dylan Rush via a third-round technical knockout.

Ex-UFC vet Juan Adams had an electric super heavyweight showdown with Richard Carmack. Adams would ultimately outpace Carmack and the first-round knockout ended up being bestowed the distinction of being the evening’s Fight of the Night.

In another first round finish, Maurice Morris secured a TKO in the opening round as he had a dominant showing against Alexei Kiser at BKB 46.

BKB 46: Ronson makes big impression in promotional debut, Minasyan and Abdulgaziev earn first round stoppages

Serob Minasyan would get dropped early in the fight but turned things around to win with a first-round knockout over James Bodnar with Minasyan now affixing his gaze toward the BKB Middleweight title which is held by LT Nelson. Ihor Blazhenko bested Gio Rosales by way of a unanimous decision in what was his debut and the former noticeably outboxed the latter over five rounds.

Top pound for pound Canadian MMA fighter Jesse Ronson took out established BKB vet Ryan Jett with a second-round TKO and now has aims to become Canada’s first champion in bare knuckle boxing outside of a grassroots Canadian circuit for gloveless combat. Said Abdulgaziev had his debut in the Mighty Trigon at BKB 46 and authored a statement win that aims to put the BKB Cruiserweight division on notice. That first-round TKO versus Shane Fichter is one step toward that path with Cub Hawkins at the end.

BKB promotes their next card on October 18th as Leeds, England will be greeted to a stacked card at Planet Ice Arena. Former 2-division world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi battles former BKB champ and former BKFC title challenger Tyler Goodjohn. In the co-main event, Dan Podmore defends his Bridgerweight title in a champ vs. champ fight against the highly decorated Marko Martinjak, who aims to be a reigning champion concurrently across two divisions.

  • Magomed Ankalaev receives huge praise from Khabib Nurmagomedov

Magomed Ankalaev receives huge praise from Khabib Nurmagomedov

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has prasied Magomed Ankalaev as the latter attempts to successfully defend his UFC light heavyweight title this weekend.

On Saturday night, Magomed Ankalaev will defend the belt for the first time against Alex Pereira. It’s a fight we all somewhat knew was coming in the wake of their first bout earlier this year, but this time around, it feels like most fans and pundits are backing Ankalaev to be the one who gets over the finish line and gets his hand rasied.

Someone else from that part of the world who has also made a huge impact on mixed martial arts is Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib retired as one of the all-time greats and that’s an understatement, whereas Magomed Ankalaev has a lot of work to do before he can be considered in that class.

At the weekend, Magomed Ankalaev will try and silence all of his doubters once and for all. One man who isn’t a hater, though, is the great Khabib Nurmagomedov.

    Khabib Nurmagomedov praises Magomed Ankalaev

“He is one of the best to ever do it in Russia, already, and he keeps improving himself and keeps climbing on top to be the best to ever do it. I really believe he has the skills (to become the best Russian fighter ever),” Khabib admitted.

He may not be in the GOAT conversation just yet, but if Ankalaev keeps winning, his legacy will soon speaks for itself as he continues to improve.

  • Jon Jones can’t expect Dana White to trust him after recent “games”, says UFC legend

Jon Jones can’t expect Dana White to trust him after recent “games”, says UFC legend

UFC legend Kamaru Usman has explained why he understands Dana White’s hesitation over booking Jon Jones for UFC White House.

Next summer, the Ultimate Fighting Championship looks set to put on a blockbuster event at the White House. Conor McGregor is someone who is eager to make his return on that card, and the same can be said for Jon Jones. However, Dana White certainly seems to trust the Irishman a whole lot more than the American.

Jon Jones vacated the UFC heavyweight title after seemingly not being interested in a fight against interim champion Tom Aspinall. With that being said, he quickly made it clear that he wants to come back after the promotion announced the aforementioned White House fight.

In a recent podcast, Kamaru Usman weighed in on the whole debacle regarding Dana White and Jones.

Kamaru Usman’s view on Jon Jones’ attitude

“You’ve got Jon Jones,” Usman said while listing the White House options. “He wants to come back and do it. Listen, I would love that for Jon Jones.

“But Jon, you can’t play with the game the way he’s played with the game and expect Dana to still trust you and let you back in to do this. You can’t play with the game like that.”

    Quotes via Bloody Elbow

‘Bones’ doesn’t really have much of a leg to stand on here whereas Dana White needs to look at this objectively, understanding the constant risks that come with putting Jon in there against just about anyone.

  • Cory Sandhagen explains his recent comedic turn ahead of UFC 320

Cory Sandhagen explains his recent comedic turn ahead of UFC 320

UFC star Cory Sandhagen has explained why he’s decided to play a more comedic character on social media in the build-up to his title fight at UFC 320.

On Saturday night, Cory Sandhagen will attempt to become the new UFC bantamweight champion. It’s a position that he’s been striving for ever since arriving in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and now, he’s just 25 minutes away from making it a reality. Of course, in order to do so, he first has to get through the seemingly unstoppable champion Merab Dvalishvili.

While that may be quite daunting, Cory Sandhagen isn’t showing any signs of fear or trepidation. In fact, he’s actually opening up a whole lot more than we’re used to seeing, to the point where he’s even been posting amusing skits online.

In a recent interview, Cory Sandhagen explained why he’s decided to lean into that side of his personality.

Cory Sandhagen discusses his new comedic persona

“I always thought that I had a really quirky sense of humor, it’s really dry, too,” Sandhagen told MMA Fighting. “For whatever reason, I don’t make a lot of facial expressions, and so it’s really hard to pick up sometimes when I’m joking and when I’m not, I always was just like, ‘Dude, you’re too weird to try to be funny, so, like, just don’t try it.

“But then I was like, f*ck it. People are either going to get it or they’re not going to get it, so I’m just going to do my own version of being funny and doing silly skits and stuff. And yeah, it seems like people like them. I know that they’re probably pretty weird for some people, but I think that they’re really funny and I guess that’s kind of what matters.”

  • “Old Kickboxer” Alex Pereira’s Striking Ability Insulted by Magomed Ankalaev’s Head Coach

“Old Kickboxer” Alex Pereira’s Striking Ability Insulted by Magomed Ankalaev’s Head Coach

Magomed Ankalaev’s coach has given his thoughts on Alex Pereira‘s striking, and it’s safe to say that he’s not overly impressed.

In the main event of UFC 320, Magomed Ankalaev will defend his UFC light heavyweight championship against Alex Pereira. It’s the same pairing that led to Ankalaev winning the strap earlier this year, and he seems pretty confident that he can get the job done once again in the rematch on Saturday night.

Alex Pereira will have different plans, but Ankalaev has improved a great deal over the course of the last few years, especially in the striking department. As we look ahead to this fight, it’ll be interesting to see how cautious both men are and whether or not they’ll really push for a finish.

In the UFC 320 Countdown show, Magomed Ankalaev’s coach had the following to say about ‘Poatan’.

Alex Pereira questioned by Magomed Ankalaev’s coach

“Alex will go for the clinch, wrestle. Why? Because in the stand-up nothing will work out for him. In the fight, the whole arena will be shouting, he hears only my voice.”

“Alex Pereira, there’s nothing with which he can surprise us. Not with his work in the stand-up. In wrestling he definitely cannot surprise. He cannot surprise with anything.”

“His technique is standard, his strikes are standard. He’s an old kickboxer. He has no speed.”

“Powerful punch? Alex, he has a punch, but not the kind that can really knock you out.”

“I tell everyone, if Magomed opens up, he’ll surprise everyone, and can even outplay, in pure stand-up, a better striker than Alex Pereira.”

  • Conor McGregor Is Speaking Directly with the Trump Administration for White House Bout

Conor McGregor Is Speaking Directly with the Trump Administration for White House Bout

Conor McGregor has revealed that he is negotiating directly with the US government regarding his potential appearance at next year’s UFC White House card.

As we know, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to host a blockbuster event at the White House in summer 2026. We also know that Conor McGregor is very interested in being part of that card, to the point where he is continually posting training videos implying that he’s going to make a comeback after almost five years away from the cage.

For the longest time, Conor McGregor has been known as a pretty controversial figure in mixed martial arts. While some would argue that was also the case during his prime, things are different now. His popularity is nowhere near what it once was and given some of the things he’s been dealing with outside of MMA, it’s surprising that he’s still got such a big platform, in many ways.

Despite that, Dana White wants him on the UFC White House card – with Conor McGregor providing the following update on how it’s all going during a brief interview.

Conor McGregor provides UFC White House update

“You know, I’m not negotiating with the UFC on behalf of myself for this fight like usual. I’m negotiating with the United States of America on behalf of Ireland for this fight. So it’s a peculiar one. But Trump and the administration have been fully supportive and backing, and I cannot wait to put on a show.”

    Buckle up, fight fans.

Zuffa Boxing Broadcast Deal Puts Events On Paramount Platforms Starting 2026

Zuffa Boxing has found its exclusive streaming home with Paramount+.

On Monday, TKO Group, the parent company of UFC and WWE, revealed that its boxing promotion will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, with Paramount Skydance Corp. serving as the exclusive broadcast partner.

The partnership will kick off in 2026 with 12 live cards and supplemental programming, with plans for further expansion in the years ahead.

According to a press release, the fights will be accessible through Paramount’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, Paramount+. Beyond 2026, the number of live cards is set to grow, with select bouts also slated to air on CBS and other Paramount streaming platforms.

Zuffa Boxing is the newly launched professional boxing promotion created by TKO Group in partnership with entertainment conglomerate Sela. It is led by a powerhouse team including UFC CEO Dana White, Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, Sela CEO Dr. Rakan Alharthy, and WWE President and TKO director Nick Khan.

The announcement comes on the heels of UFC’s major broadcasting shift from ESPN to Paramount, sealed last month with a seven-year, $7.7 billion deal set to begin in 2026. Under the agreement, UFC will feature a full schedule of 13 premier numbered events and 30 Fight Nights, marking a move away from most traditional pay-per-view models.

  • Terence Crawford Pulled Over And Held At Gunpoint In Omaha Just Hours After Victory Parade

Terence Crawford Pulled Over And Held At Gunpoint In Omaha Just Hours After Victory Parade

Terence Crawford’s post-parade celebration nearly spiraled into a nightmare.

Earlier this month, Crawford etched his name in history by moving up two weight classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez, securing the biggest triumph of his career with a unanimous decision to claim the undisputed super middleweight crown.

To honor his historic win, “Bud” was celebrated with a grand victory parade in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday. The event was a festive spectacle, with Crawford receiving his well-earned praise from teammates, coaches, and countless members of the boxing community.

However, only hours after the parade, the celebration took a shocking twist when the multi-division boxing champion was stopped by Omaha police and momentarily detained at gunpoint. The stop happened around 1:30 A.M. near 12th and Capitol Avenue, after officers cited reckless driving concerns.

During the stop, officers noticed a firearm in the vehicle and ordered all four occupants, including Crawford, to step out at gunpoint. A video initially shared by Facebook user Dre Jimmy shows the 38-year-old Nebraska native behind the wheel during a tense standoff with an officer, who directs him to step out.

Authorities later confirmed that Terence Crawford had been driving and issued him a citation for reckless driving. They also clarified that a member of his security detail was carrying a legally registered firearm and that all passengers were authorized to possess weapons.

Mayor Of Omaha Issues Statement On Terence Crawford’s Police Stop

Following Terence Crawford being held at gunpoint during a traffic stop, the Omaha Police Department confirmed the details of the incident. Officials stated in a press note that the stop occurred due to “reckless driving” and confirmed that “Bud” was the driver. All four occupants were ordered out of the vehicle for safety reasons, while one passenger was carrying a legally registered firearm.

Additionally, Omaha Mayor John Ewing issued a statement on Sunday, stating that he had spoken directly with Terence Crawford after the incident. He also announced that Police Chief Todd Schmaderer has launched an internal investigation into the traffic stop.

“Understand that my heart dropped in learning of this end to an otherwise wonderful day and evening celebrating our city’s world boxing champion,” Ewing wrote on Facebook. “We held a great parade and great event at Heartland of America park. The evening birthday party at Steelhouse, which I and members of my team attended, was a showing of joy and pride. Omaha needs to remember this important day as a good one while we seek answers to how it ended.”

  • Zuffa Boxing Nearing Broadcast Deal With Paramount

Zuffa Boxing Nearing Broadcast Deal With Paramount

Another piece of the ventures under the Dana White umbrella — let alone the TKO umbrella — may soon be joining Paramount in short time.

Per a report from John Ourand of The Puck, Zuffa Boxing is likely to sign a broadcasting deal with Paramount, with an announcement coming as soon as possibly next week.

MMA Fighting adds that the nearing deal may connect with White’s social media posts last week that originally teased a big day before stating he jumped the gun on the post.

Zuffa Boxing Near Deal With Paramount

If this report is true, it would give TKO its second combat sports broadcasting deal with Paramount following its merger with Skydance. Last month, the UFC and Paramount agreed to a seven-year, $7.7 million deal that would see UFC events broadcasted on the Paramount+ streaming service, with certain numbered cards simulcasted on linear CBS channels.

It was reported last month that the two sides were in “advanced talks.”

Zuffa Boxing — run by UFC CEO and President Dana White, as well as WWE President Nick Khan, and financially backed by the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority — officially launches in 2026, following its promotion of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight earlier this month.

TKO is looking at holding monthly Zuffa Boxing cards, as well as a couple of special “supercards” in a calendar year.

  • Jake Matthews And Team Will Be Appealing Loss To Neil Magny At UFC Perth

Jake Matthews And Team Will Be Appealing Loss To Neil Magny At UFC Perth

After a controversial referee ruling saw a first-round submission for him overturned, Jake Matthews will be appealing his UFC Perth loss to Neil Magny, according to his management team.

Referee Jim Pediros appeared to wave off the fight in the first round, believing that Magny was choked out with one second remaining in the first round. Magny got to his feet and immediately protested.

Seconds later, Pediros said he was stepping in to call for the end of the round, and not to wave the fight off — despite video evidence suggesting otherwise.

“Yes, we will be appealing,” Matthews’ team said in an email statement.

Jake Matthews Appealing Controversial UFC Perth Loss

Despite his initial ruling and Magny’s protests in a fight-ending sequence, video review was not utilized. The referee instead changed his mind and the fight went on.

Matthews controlled the action for the second round and had a couple of more submission attempts, but Magny pulled off a comeback submission during the third round.

Matthews saw a three-fight win streak snapped as a result of the loss.

Magny, meanwhile, extended his record for most wins in UFC welterweight division history and has now won two straight and three of his last five.

  • 5 Hits And 1 Miss From UFC Perth: Carlos Ulberg vs. Dominick Reyes

5 Hits And 1 Miss From UFC Perth: Carlos Ulberg vs. Dominick Reyes

For the first time ever, a UFC Fight Night made its way to the RAC Arena, as UFC Perth went down on September 27.

It was the fourth UFC card to take place in Perth, but the others have come with pay-per-view events. This includes UFC 305 last year, which saw Dricus Du Plessis submit Israel Adesanya to retain the UFC middleweight championship.

A pivotal light heavyweight contenders battle took place in the main event, as Carlos Ulberg faced off with former title challenger Dominick Reyes. Ulberg came into this bout on an eight-fight win streak, having most recently scored a decision over former champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC London in March. Reyes, meanwhile, had won three straight, most recently knocking out Nikita Krylov at UFC 314.

Another light heavyweight fight took place in the evening’s co-main event, as Jimmy Crute faced off with Ivan Erslan. Crute scored his first victory in years at UFC 318, submitting Marcin Prachnio. Erslan, meanwhile, was still seeking his first UFC win after losses to Ion Cutelaba and Navajo Stirling.

Who came out impressive? Who fell short of expectations? Let’s find out with the hits and misses of UFC Perth!

    Hit: Brando Pericic’s Destructive Debut

Brando Pericic and Elisha Ellison both received a big opportunity when they were booked against one another for the preliminary card of UFC Perth. And it was Pericic who brought the highlight finish.

Pericic found himself in a little bit of trouble early when he was hit by one of Ellison’s right punches. But Pericic battled back, and when Ellison attempted to pull guard, Pericic made him pay. Pericic landed a flurry of ground-and-pound that resulted in Ellison getting knocked out, giving Pericic the win.

“The Balkan Bear” is now 5-1 as a professional MMA fighter and already has earned a performance bonus. Pericic has won four of five fights since a long layoff between his first two fights, and hopefully his time in the cage only continues to grow now as he continues to develop as a heavyweight fighter.

Hit: Cam Rowston Calls His Shot And Delivers

It was only a month ago when Cam Rowston earned a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, and he asked for a match at UFC Perth. Not only was he granted the request and placed on this card, but he made the most of his opportunity with a win over Andre Petroski.

Despite some early leg kicks from Petroski, Rowston was able to find a left hand to drop Petroski before jumping into top game, executing ground-and-pound until scoring the first-round referee stoppage.

Rowston has now won five straight and is now 13-3 as a pro fighter. And to get a win in your short-notice UFC debut against a tough guy like Petroski is a strong first impression for Rowston.

Hit: Tom Nolan Bests Charlie Campbell In Brief Banger

Tom Nolan and Charlie Campbell’s fight didn’t last a long time, but for the time it lasted, it was absolutely entertaining.

Campbell got Nolan in trouble early, using his fists to drop Nolan and give him a bloody nose. But Nolan battled back, resulting in some wild exchanging throughout the fight’s duration. Nolan then dropped Campbell on a counterpunch before locking up a rear-naked choke, scoring a first-round submission.

The 10-1 Nolan has now won four straight since dropping his UFC debut, and the Dana White Contender Series winning alumnus might get a little step up in competition in his next outing.

Miss: Ref Ruins Jake Matthews’ (Wrong) Victory, Spoils Neil Magny Comeback

I want to use this time to praise the efforts of Neil Magny, continuing to leave his legacy in the Octagon with yet another come-from-behind, third-round finish, defeating Jake Matthews.

But the problem is, Magny shouldn’t have been given the win. The bigger problem? Jake Matthews shouldn’t have either.

Matthews had Magny caught in a choke in the closing seconds of round one. Referee Jim Perdios mistakenly thought Magny was out and stepped in with one second remaining — with video footage showing him stepping in right before the horn sounded.

Perdios then conveniently said he was stepping in due to the end of the round, not a submission, after Magny’s protests. He knew he screwed up and got bailed. But when you look at the footage, Perdios clearly said the match was over first before saying the round had ended.

And if this writer isn’t mistaken, the fight-ending sequence would need a replay review, which would then make the fight end in a no contest. And honestly? A no contest probably would have been the better result.

Yes, you can argue Matthews didn’t get the job done…but the problem is, for right or wrong, he shouldn’t have to after getting the “finish” at the last second of the first round. The bonehead of this fight is the referee, plain and simple. I hope we get to see this fight run back with a more responsible referee.

Also, said it before and will say it again, the fact referees, judges, and other officials have zero need for accountability in this sport is sickening.

Hit: Jimmy Crute Back To Consecutive Wins In Home Crowd

Jimmy Crute hadn’t scored a win in just under five years before his UFC 318 victory over Marcin Prachnio. Now, he’s finally won consecutive fights again after defeating Ivan Erslan in the co-main event of UFC Perth.

Crute withstood the power punching from Erslan before locking him up with his grappling and bringing this fight to the ground. There, Crute executed a choke, which looked more like a WWE style Camel Clutch move, to get the submission win.

It’s a feel-good victory for Crute to get in front of a native crowd. After a string of losses and draws, hopefully for him this puts him back in winning ways.

Hit: Carlos Ulberg Lays Claim To Magomed Ankalaev vs. Alex Pereira 2 Winner

With a couple of big light heavyweight matchups coming next week at UFC 320, including a light heavyweight title rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira, Carlos Ulberg starched Dominick Reyes to lay claim for why he should face the winner for the title.

A quiet first round, with both men cautious of each other’s power, turned into Ulberg working his fists before landing a sharp one-two that put Reyes out.

Ulberg has won every fight since dropping his UFC debut in 2021. Ulberg said he would be talking with UFC brass soon, and in case Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr. don’t make an impression, perhaps Ulberg could work his way into scoring the first light heavyweight title fight in 2026.

  • Parade Held To Honor Terence Crawford In Hometown Of Omaha

Parade Held To Honor Terence Crawford In Hometown Of Omaha

Pulling off the biggest win of his career in one of professional boxing’s most highly-anticipated fights in modern history is a task worthy of celebration. And celebrate Omaha and Terence Crawford did.

A celebration with parade in Crawford’s honor was held on September 27 in his hometown, recognizing his dedication and accomplishments in and out of the ring. The event brought out local officials, some of Crawford’s associates and friends in the world of boxing — including Shakur Stevenson and Claressa Shields — as well as his family and plenty of fans.

As part of the festivities, Crawford was awarded a Key to the City — his second time receiving such an accolade — and a custom championship belt from Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr.

“Mama, Grandma, we made it,” Crawford said.

According to Ewing Jr., over 65,000 people attended the parade, with its route stretching approximately four miles.

Crawford bested Canelo Alvarez on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, becoming the new undisputed super middleweight champion.

The win made Crawford the first male boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in three weight classes (after previously becoming the first to do so at two) — having previously held undisputed gold at light welterweight and welterweight — and the second male boxer to ever win any form of undisputed championship in three weight classes.

“One word that I’ve been thinking about when wanting to talk about Bud was integrity,” Stevenson said when reflecting on Crawford’s influence on him. “I feel like Bud Crawford taught me integrity, and it’s going to last forever.”

UFC 322 Card Heats Up With Massive Lightweight Clash On Nov. 15

The UFC 322 card continues to build into a potential blockbuster showdown.

The MMA promotion will return to New York City on November 15 for UFC 322 at the Madison Square Garden, featuring a championship doubleheader at the top of the bill. In the main event, reigning welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena puts his belt on the line against former lightweight tiitleholder Islam Makhachev.

Meanwhile, the co-main event features former strawweight queen Zhang Weili stepping up a division to take on reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

On Sunday, Square RMC Sport Combat reported that the already stacked UFC 322 card has gained extra firepower with an exciting lightweight showdown between top contender Beneil Dariush and Benoît Saint Denis.

Dariush last stepped into the Octagon at UFC 317 this past June, securing a commanding unanimous decision victory over former 155-pound title challenger Renato Moicano. Before that triumph, the 36-year-old American endured consecutive first-round knockout defeats to Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira in 2023.

“Benny” boasts a 17-6-1 UFC record, featuring notable wins over top-tier opponents such as Mateusz Gamrot and Tony Ferguson.

Meanwhile, Saint Denis arrives at UFC 322 riding the momentum of a dominant submission victory over Mauricio Ruffy at UFC Paris earlier this month. The 29-year-old Frenchman once boasted a five-fight finishing streak but has gone 2-2 in his last four bouts.

“God of War” holds a 7-3 UFC record, with all seven victories coming via finishes against notable opponents like Matt Frevola and Thiago Moises.

Wanderlei Silva Knocked Out In Brawl After Getting Disqualified In Boxing Match

Concern is revolving around MMA legend Wanderlei Silva after he was knocked during a post-fight brawl that took place following a boxing fight he competed in on September 27.

Silva competed in an exhibition boxing bout at Spaten Fight Night 2 in Brazil, taking on former world champion Acelino Freitas. Silva was disqualified for repeated headbutts on Freitas, but little did fans know that would just be the start of the action.

Chaos and melee ensued as people from both camps stormed the ring, and it’s in this madness where a man lands a hard punch on Silva, knocking him out cold.

Silva’s body is moved away from the action, but he is still seemingly unconscious by the time the footage ends.

This was the first bit of combat sports action for the 49-year-old UFC Hall of Famer and former PRIDE champion. Silva had not been seen in a fight since his loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 206 in September 2018.

Freitas was a replacement opponent, substituting for Vitor Belfort after Belfort withdrew from the fight earlier this month.

“Just Punched His Ticket (Literally) To A Title Shot” – Fans & Fighters React As Carlos Ulberg Sleeps Dominick Reyes In Light Heavyweight Contender Battle At UFC Perth

In a battle of top-10 light heavyweight contenders, Carlos Ulberg made a case for the next light heavyweight title shot, as he scored a knockout of former title challenger Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC Perth.

The fight’s pace started slow as they felt one another out, cautious of each other’s power. Ulberg then started to connect, focusing on the body before moving to the head.

Late in the round, Ulberg landed a one-two that dropped Reyes hard to the mat, bringing a quick ending to the action.

Ulberg has now won nine straight since dropping his 2021 UFC debut. He came into this bout off a win over former champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC London.

“Nearly Ripped This Dude’s Head Off” – Fans & Fighters React As Jimmy Crute Gets Back To Consecutive Wins, Submitting Ivan Erslan At UFC Perth

In front of a native Australian crowd, Jimmy Crute looked impressive in the UFC Perth co-main event, finishing Ivan Erslan.

After some leg kick exchanging, Erslan seemed to trouble Crute with powerful punching. Crute, however, was able to work his way to a grappling advantage, keeping a hold of Erslan near the fence. Crute worked his way into a backpack position and threatened a choke, rolling through an Erslan transition attempt to get into mount.

Crute would get under the chin and squeeze, scoring another first-round submission.

After a period of over four years without a UFC win, Jimmy Crute now has won two straight. He submitted Marcin Prachnio at UFC 318 in July, which marked his first win since knocking out Modestas Bukauskas in October 2020.

Erslan now falls to 0-3 in the Octagon, losing his first two UFC bouts to Ion Cutelaba and Navajo Stirling.

“Matthews Team Should File A Protest” – Referee Jim Perdios Gets Blasted By MMA Community After Botching Submission Call As Neil Magny Goes On To Submit Jake Matthews At UFC Perth

Neil Magny was able to come away with another come-from-behind, third-round finish at UFC Perth, defeating Jake Matthews, but it doesn’t come without much controversy courtesy of a referee’s botched call and changing his mind.

Matthews appeared to be in full control in the first round and threatened to choke out Magny as the first round was coming to a close. Referee Jim Perdios, checking Magny, appeared to rule that Magny went unconscious with one second left in the round, seemingly stepping in to declare Matthews the winner.

Magny immediately jumped to his feet in protest, and, conveniently, Perdios then ruled that the round was over and that was the reason he was stepping in.

Matthews would control the action in the second round again, threatening a couple of more submissions, but Magny came from behind to score a submission via D’Arce choke in the third.

“Chaotic” – Fans React As Tom Nolan Goes From Knocked Down To Submitting Charlie Campbell At UFC Perth

After finding himself dropped and in some trouble early, Australia’s Tom Nolan came back and managed to submit Charlie Campbell in a short but wild encounter that opened the UFC Perth main card.

Campbell had Nolan hurt early, landing a left hand that dropped him in the opening stages of the fight. Campbell appeared to be in control and could have threatened a finish, giving Nolan a bloody nose. Nolan, however, fought back and stunned Campbell himself, as the two traded wildly throughout the brief contest.

Nolan landed a counterpunch that dropped Campbell. Campbell attempted to scramble up, but Nolan took advantage and got him fully down on the floor, locking up a choke and scoring the submission in just over four minutes.

“Statement Win” – Fans & Fighters React To Cam Rowston Going From DWCS Winner To Winning Short-Notice UFC Debut At UFC Perth

It was just one month ago on Dana White’s Contender Series where Cam Rowston earned a UFC contract and called for a spot on UFC Perth. Now, not only did he earn that spot, but he made the most of it by putting away Andre Petroski during the preliminary card.

Petroski tried to get out on the front foot and take control right away, focusing on leg kicks. Rowston would try to get his hands going, and it worked, as a left hand resulted in Petroski getting knocked to the mat.

Petroski attempted to use his guard to defend against Rowston’s attacks, but Rowston’s ground-and-pound was too much, and the Australian earned the first-round TKO victory.

Following the fight, Rowston paid tribute to his teammate and mentor, former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, as he declared himself the new dog in the yard at middleweight.

Rowston has now won five straight, which includes his contract-earning performance on DWCS in a victory over Brandon Holmes.

  • Magomed Ankalaev Claims Alex Pereira Was Greased Up In First Fight Ahead Of UFC 320 Rematch – ‘He Was Just Too Slippery’

Magomed Ankalaev Claims Alex Pereira Was Greased Up In First Fight Ahead Of UFC 320 Rematch – ‘He Was Just Too Slippery’

Magomed Ankalaev is insisting that Alex Pereira had an unfair advantage in their first fight.

Ankalaev is gearing up to defend his light heavyweight title for the first time against Pereira in the UFC 320 main event, set for October 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two first clashed at UFC 313 this past March, where Ankalaev dethroned “Poatan” with a unanimous decision to capture the light heavyweight crown. While the Russian champ outworked Pereira on the feet across five hard-fought rounds, he also leaned heavily on his wrestling arsenal.

Still, Ankalaev’s grappling yielded nothing, as the resilient Brazilian shut down all 12 of his takedown attempts. Now, though, he believes it wasn’t a shortcoming in skill but rather an illicit tactic on Pereira’s part.

Magomed Ankalaev Claims Alex Pereira Used Grease During UFC 313 Bout

Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira have been trading barbs ever since their first clash, and with UFC 320 drawing near, the rivalry is boiling over.

At a recent open workout in Las Vegas, the reigning light heavyweight champion accused “Poatan” of bending the rules in their UFC 313 showdown, alleging that Pereira greased up to make grappling exchanges far more difficult.

At a recent media interaction during an open workout in Las Vegas, the reigning light heavyweight champion doubled down on his coach Sukhrab Magomedov’s earlier accusations, claiming that “Poatan” bent the rules in their UFC 313 showdown by greasing up to make grappling exchanges nearly impossible.

“Also, I told my coach right away during the rounds that I felt like he was greased,” Magomed Ankalaev said through a translator. “He was just too slippery. These things happen in professional sport, I’m not accusing him of anything, but that’s just what I felt. I spar every day, I train every day, you can feel when people are slippery. It’s too much slippery. So I felt he was too greasy and that played a role also.”

Ankalaev rides a 14-fight unbeaten streak, boasting victories over notable names such as Aleksandar Rakic, Johnny Walker, and Thiago Santos. The 33-year-old Russian stands with a professional slate of 22-1-1 and one no contest, his lone setback coming back in March 2018 when he was submitted by Paul Craig in the third round.

“Violence Delivered” – Fans And Fighters React To Powerful Ground-And-Pound KO From Brando Pericic In UFC Debut At UFC Perth

The UFC Perth prelims featured a battle of heavyweight debutants, and Brando Pericic made the most of his opportunity, needing just under two minutes to put away Elisha Ellison.

Pericic tried to bring pressure from the first second of the fight, but Ellison caught his attention with a strong right hand. Pericic returned fire and continued to looking for openings and attacking. Ellison attempted to pull guard, but that worsened his situation, as Pericic laid into him from the top.

The barrage of shots would result in Pericic putting Ellison into unconsciousness, ending the night in 115 seconds.

Pericic made his professional MMA debut in November 2019 but had a four-and-a-half-year layoff before his next fight in April 2024. He came into this fight off a similar, 68-second finish of Orion Kenny in November 2024.

Ellison falls to 5-2 and sees a three-fight win streak snapped.

VIDEO: Debuting Professional MMA Fighter Taps Out Immediately As Fight Starts

We’ve seen some great debuts and letdowns of debuts in this sport, but one fighter making his professional MMA debut did something that has probably never been seen before.

Marcin Szoltysik made his professional MMA debut at Babilon MMA 54, held in Grudziądz, Poland, on September 27. His opponent was 3-2 fighter Jacek Kujtkowski.

But when the referee called for the fight to start, Szoltysik immediately crouched to the mat and tapped out.

Marcin Szoltysik Taps Out 1 Second Into Professional MMA Debut

Kujtkowski turned away, but the referee attempted to get the two to engage in the action. But after Szoltysik did the tap out motion again, the referee was forced to stop the bout.

No reason has been given as to why Szoltysik surrendered the fight immediately as it started.

If the result stands, Kujtkowski will improve to 4-2 as a pro. He came into the bout off a loss to Michal Piwowarski in July, which snapped a three-fight win streak.

It will also, obviously, go down as one of the shortest MMA bouts ever at one second in length.
