  • Former UFC Heavyweight on Oleksandr Usyk Intel From ‘The Smashing Machine’ Set

Former UFC Heavyweight on Oleksandr Usyk Intel From ‘The Smashing Machine’ Set

Oleksandr Usyk is not just the undisputed heavyweight champion in the boxing world for a second time but he is also branching out into the film world through The Smashing Machine and a fellow co-star has offered up some on-set insights with the Ukrainian pugilist. During an interview with MMA Canada, Caio Machado touched on multiple topics ahead of his UAE Warriors debut that saw him finish Kevin Oumar at UAE Warriors 61 on July 23rd.

Oleksandr Usyk portrays Igor Vovchanchyn in the film while Machado depicts Pete Williams in this cinematic project helmed by The Rock starring titular figure, ‘The Smashing Machine’ Mark Kerr. When the former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight fighter was asked if he had any interactions with Usyk while both were filming on-set for this looming effort from Seven Bucks Productions, Machado said,

“By proxy in a certain way. Myself, I didn’t have any scene with him. Didn’t get the chance to talk to him or even interact in any way. But my coach at the time, Chris Franco, he played Igor Vovchanchyn’s coach in the movie. So he was side by side with Usyk all over the shooting. So he picked his brain, we worked a couple of combos off of his movement, also from a lighter southpaw heavyweight kind of fighter. So it was by proxy, I got able to absorb some things from him but myself, didn’t get the chance.”

Oleksandr Usyk’s mandatory challenger and a prominent party lacking interest in that bout

Oleksandr Usyk is on the heels of an emphatic finish over Daniel Dubois in their rematch with Usyk becoming undisputed champ at heavyweight for a second time but he may end up having to possibly forfeit one of the belts considering the current landscape. Joseph Parker is currently the WBO mandatory with the WBO committee putting out a formal press release indicating their desire for negotiations to begin to lock in an Usyk vs. Parker bout.

Then curiously enough The Ring Magazine put it out there that Riyadh Season Sela has no interest in pursuing Parker versus Usyk next even though it has the most athletic meritocracy of any possible challenger out there right now. Ring Magazine is a media outlet that is now owned by Turki Alalshikh who is the financial driving force for these Riyadh Season fights. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the heavyweight title landscape going forward with all of the outlined machinations that are at play.

  • UFC Abu Dhabi: Robert Whittaker vs. Reinier De Ridder Weigh-In Results

UFC Abu Dhabi: Robert Whittaker vs. Reinier De Ridder Weigh-In Results

UFC Fight Night: Robert Whittaker vs. Reinier De Ridder takes place on Saturday, and MMA News is here to bring you the official weigh-in results.

Held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this is the 21st time in UFC history that the Octagon will touch down in Abu Dhabi. It last hosted UFC 308 in October, which saw Ilia Topuria knock out Max Holloway, and it will play host to UFC 321 this coming October — with a Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane heavyweight championship main event.

This time around, however, UFC Abu Dhabi will be topped by former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker taking on former ONE Championship two-division champion Reinier De Ridder.

This is Whittaker’s first bout since suffering a loss to Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight title eliminator at UFC 308. Chimaev, who injured Whittaker’s jaw in the fight, is expected to challenge Dricus Du Plessis for the UFC’s 185-pound gold on August 16 at UFC 319. RDR is on a four-fight win streak and is 3-0 in the Octagon, ending the undefeated streak of blue-chip prospect Bo Nickal at UFC Des Moines in May.

Elsewhere, the likes of Petr Yan, Shara Magomedov, Asu Almabayev, Nikita Krylov, and Bryce Mitchell will all be in action.

  • Tony Ferguson Calls Out 110% of MMA Fans Over His Upcoming Boxing Venture

Tony Ferguson Calls Out 110% of MMA Fans Over His Upcoming Boxing Venture

Former UFC fighter Tony Ferguson has gone on a rant against those who have criticized his decision to compete in a boxing match against Salt Papi.

On August 30th, Tony Ferguson will make his return to active competition – but not in mixed martial arts. He will fight on a Misfits Boxing card, and he’ll do so against Salt Papi, who is a pretty popular figure within that sub-genre of the sport.

As we know, Tony Ferguson will forever be known as one of the greatest lightweight fighters of his generation. He did some wonderful things in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, including going on an amazing 12-fight win streak. Unfortunately, ‘El Cucuy’ ended his UFC tenure by going on an eight-fight losing run, with five of those defeats coming via finish.

Ahead of this fight against Salt Papi, Tony Ferguson had the following to say to those who have gone after him for this move.

    Tony Ferguson unloads on critics

“90% of the f***ing comments out there are saying that I’m washed up, I’m old, and I should f***ing retire… They’re saying that because they can’t f***ing do this s*** that I’m doing.

“The other 20% is saying that Salt Papi is gonna knock me out, so 100% of you bitches are out there hating on me. You know what? That’s more fuel for my fire.”

He may not be what he once was, but Ferguson seems to be as determined as ever to try and put on a show for the fans.

  • Khabib Nurmagomedov: Jon Jones’ Legacy “Will Always Have Questions”

Khabib Nurmagomedov: Jon Jones’ Legacy “Will Always Have Questions”

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has questioned what kind of legacy Jon Jones will leave behind in the world of mixed martial arts.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most respected MMA fighters of all time. He accomplished some truly incredible things throughout the course of his career, including going 29-0, becoming UFC lightweight champion, and generally being viewed as one of the most dominant fighters to ever walk through the doors of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has been retired for five years now and a lot of people still put him in the conversation of greatest of all time. Of course, someone else who features pretty prominently in that is none other than Jon Jones.

In a recent podcast appearance, Khabib Nurmagomedov gave his thoughts on the legacy of Jon Jones now that he’s walked away from the sport.

Khabib Nurmagomedov questions Jon Jones’ legacy

“Legacy and achievement are two different things, a lot of people confuse those two concepts.”

“What is legacy? Legacy is when kids look at you and feel inspired by you.”

“As a fighter, he’s the best. As a person, in terms of inspiration, character, when it comes to personal qualities, there will always be questions.”

“As an athlete, he reached greatness. He has no equal but there will always be questions about doping, whether he was caught or not, and yes, he was caught. That’s a fact.”

Who knows, maybe ‘Bones’ will decided to try and climb the mountain once again. We’ll have to wait and see.

  • Robert Whittaker: Dana White Bought Me New Teeth After Khamzat Chimaev Smashed Them

Robert Whittaker: Dana White Bought Me New Teeth After Khamzat Chimaev Smashed Them

UFC star Robert Whittaker has said that UFC boss Dana White helped pay for new teeth following his defeat to Khamzat Chimaev.

As we know, Robert Whittaker is set to return this weekend as he prepares to battle Reinier de Ridder at UFC Abu Dhabi. In his last outing, though, he was beaten pretty badly by Khamzat Chimaev, who inflicted a nasty jaw injury on him.

Robert Whittaker is an absolute warrior and we all know that to be true, but most human beings would struggle to deal with the kind of pressure that Khamzat puts you under.

In a recent interview, Robert Whittaker revealed that Dana White definitely had his back after the incident.

Robert Whittaker reveals kind Dana White gesture

“My teeth? They’re better than before, better looking even. Uncle Dana paid for the implants. It was a work injury.”

For Robert Whittaker, the focus now is on Reinier de Ridder and attempting to make his case for still being an elite middleweight contender. We all know that he’s good enough to mix it up with the very best but at this point in his career, he’s sustained a fair bit of damage.

As for Dana White, we hope to see him carry on this trend of helping out fighters as much as he possibly can. Who knows, maybe we’ll even see things change in the fighter pay department.

Either way, we’re just glad that ‘The Reaper’ is back doing what he loves – and long may it continue.

  • Dakota Ditcheva: Laura Sanko Says the UFC Needs “Violent Cinderella”

Dakota Ditcheva: Laura Sanko Says the UFC Needs “Violent Cinderella”

UFC commentator Laura Sanko wants to see Dakota Ditcheva join the promotion sooner rather than later.

As we know, Dakota Ditcheva is one of the biggest stars in women’s mixed martial arts today. That’s saying something, too, given that she has yet to step foot into the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s octagon.

Instead, Dakota Ditcheva has been making a name for herself in the PFL. It’s all been smooth sailing so far and as we look ahead to the future, it certainly seems as if she’s gearing up to become the new face of the promotion – if she isn’t already.

In a recent video, the aforementioned Laura Sanko made it known that she’s very interested in seeing Dakota Ditcheva make the switch over to the UFC.

Laura Sanko wants Dakota Ditcheva in UFC

“For me, it’s Dakota Ditcheva. What a fighter. Talk about a women’s division needing a superstar… She is a violent Cinderella. Bring her to the UFC as soon as you possibly can.”

Ditcheva is set to turn 27 years of age tomorrow and you’d think that she would be interested in making her way over to the UFC at this point in her career. Alas, perhaps she wants the best deal possible, and would rather make as much money and build as much hype as she can with the PFL before the jump.

Either way, Dakota has the potential to do some incredible things in the sport, and it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out (sorry Dana).

  • Paulo Costa Slams ‘One Dimensional’ Khamzat Chimaev: “I’m coming for you”

Paulo Costa Slams ‘One Dimensional’ Khamzat Chimaev: “I’m coming for you”

UFC middleweight Paulo Costa has reiterated his desire to square off with Khamzat Chimaev as the rivalry between the two men continues to intensify.

As we know, Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev aren’t big fans of one another. It certainly seems like they’re both interested in the idea of squaring off but right now, their paths don’t quite align. Costa is coming off the back of a win over Roman Kopylov, whereas Chimaev is just a matter of weeks away from challenging Dricus du Plessis for the UFC middleweight championship.

There are lots of interesting things happening at 185 pounds right now and this is certainly one of them. For Paulo Costa, this is an incredibly personal matter – but it’s not quite clear as to whether or not Khamzat sees it the same way. Whatever the case may be, it’s hard not to be drawn in and be intrigued by their rivalry.

In a recent interview, Paulo Costa once again went after Khamzat Chimaev and made it known that he’s coming after him.

Paulo Costa calls out Khamzat Chimaev

“Khamzat’s game is so one-dimensional—he shoots for the legs instantly. Everyone knows that.”

Will these two ever see eye to eye? It certainly seems unlikely. Will they ever fight? Potentially. Will it be an official contest sanctioned by the UFC? It’s hard to say. One thing we know is this: we need at least one press conference with these two throwing verbal bombs at each other, and we need it yesterday.

  • Chris Barnett To Make Octagon Return At UFC 321 On October 25

Chris Barnett To Make Octagon Return At UFC 321 On October 25

Chris Barnett is set to step back into the Octagon.

As per a recent report from MMA journalist Marcel Dorff, Barnett is slated to face Hamdy Abdelwahab in a heavyweight clash at UFC 321, set for October 25 at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

Earlier this week, the MMA promotion officially confirmed that UFC 321 will be headlined by reigning heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who will make his first undisputed title defense against former title challenger Ciryl Gane. The Abu Dhabi card will also feature another high-stakes heavyweight showdown, as top contenders Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almeida square off in a pivotal clash.

UFC 321 will also showcase a light heavyweight bout between Aleksandar Rakic and undefeated Azamat Murzakanov. In the flyweight division, Azat Maksum takes on Mitch Raposo, while Ikram Aliskerov meets Junyong Park in a middleweight matchup.

How Do Chris Barnett And Hamdy Abdelwahab Compare On Paper?

Chris Barnett is set to make his return after spending a year on the sidelines. The fan-favorite heavyweight was last seen at UFC 308 in October 2024, where he endured a first-round knockout loss to Kennedy Nzechukwu.

“Beastboy” has been a member of the UFC roster since May 2021, compiling a 2-3 record across five appearances, alternating between wins and losses. His most recent victory came at UFC 279 in September 2022, where he delivered a memorable second-round knockout against Jake Collier. Chris Barnett boasts a professional record of 23-9, with an impressive 18 of those victories coming by way of knockout

Meanwhile, Hamdy Abdelwahab last competed at UFC Baku earlier this month, where he suffered the first defeat of his professional career after dropping a unanimous decision to Mohammed Usman in a hard-fought contest.

“The Hammer” made his promotional debut at UFC 277 in July 2022, where he initially secured a split-decision victory over Don’Tale Mayes. However, the result was later overturned to a no contest after Abdelwahab tested positive twice for the banned anabolic agent methenolone and its metabolites in February 2023. As a result, he was handed a two-year suspension.

The 32-year-old Egyptian earned his most recent victory at UFC Saudi Arabia in February, edging out Jamal Pogues via split decision. Abdelwahab currently holds a professional record of 6-1 with one no contest.

PFL’s Growth in Dubai and the MENA Region

Earlier this year, the PFL became the first global MMA organization to hold a major event in Dubai. The Champions Series Dubai event stood out for what many considered the most exciting title fight of the year—a matchup between Russian fighter Usman Magomedov and Irish athlete Paul Hughes.

Peter Murray, CEO of PFL International, welcomed the new partnership, stating, “PFL is excited to welcome Sheikh Mohammed and his expertise to our ownership group. This marks another major milestone in our global expansion strategy and reinforces our long-term commitment to expanding our presence in the Middle East.”

The PFL’s commitment to the region is further visible through the ongoing PFL MENA franchise, now in its second season. • Big PFL Africa 1 Claims Challenged With Reug Reug and Nassourdine Imavov Event

Big PFL Africa 1 Claims Challenged With Reug Reug and Nassourdine Imavov Event

PFL Africa 1 was deemed as a historic event for African MMA with an individual involved in ARES 1 disputing the claims of the Professional Fighters League. The X account @PFLMMA tweeted out a message to their fanbase on the same day as their big foray into the African market which stated,

“History was made today! The first global MMA event in Africa did not disappoint The night that was #PFLCapeTown 🇿🇦”

Alan Murphy, who works with Glory Kickboxing and previously did matchmaking as well as marketing for KSW, was involved in the inaugural ARES card and wanted to clarify some things from his vantage point. Retweeting the initial message from the official PFL account, Murphy quipped,

“Have to challenge this claim. I was part of ARES 1 in Dakar, Senegal in 2019, to a global audience on UFC FIGHT PASS, across France & Africa on Canal, + YouTube. The event featured the debut of Reug Reug, Nassourdine Imavov, Taylor Lapilus, Mairon Santos, Josh Parisian & others.”

PFL Africa 1, ARES 1, and the big happenings from both cards

PFL Africa 1 transpired over the weekend from GrandWest Arena in Cape Town, South Africa with multiple notable happenings from that July 19th event. Costello Van Steenis secured a breathtaking come from behind submission finish of Johnny Eblen to secure the PFL middleweight crown in the night’s headliner. In the co-main event, Dakota Ditcheva engaged in a comprehensive masterclass striking performance against Sumiko Inaba en route to a unanimous decision win.

ARES 1 emanated from Esplanade du Musé des Civilisations Noires in Dakar, Senegal on December 14th, 2019 and was an electric offering in it’s own right. Nassourdine Imavov competed that night and would secure a ground and pound stoppage over Jonathan Meunier in the waning seconds of the first frame of that fight.

Reug Reug AKA Oumar Kane made his professional MMA debut that night and did so against someone with far more mixed martial arts experience in Sofiane Boukichou. In what many have described as one of the most impressive MMA debuts in history with several icnredible slams throught, Reug Reug would secure the TKO victory in the second stanza to go up 1-0 in his pro MMA career.

  • Eddie Alvarez Teammate on Big Possible Next BKFC Philly Bout

Eddie Alvarez Teammate on Big Possible Next BKFC Philly Bout

Eddie Alvarez is focusing on honing the skills of the future wave of bare knuckle fighters but a big BKFC Philly fight could be in his future as well. On this edition of Bare Knuckle Bowker, Travis Thompson discussed several topics before he tests skills with Micah Livingston at BKFC Philly on July 25th.

When touching on who he has been training with as of late and also pontificating on when we might see ‘The Underground King’ throw down in gloveless combat once again, Thompson said,

“Anthony Pagan. I work out at Eddie Alvarez’s gym with Eddie also. So yeah, I do that on the weekends. So I actually get to get into a bare knuckle ring and use that for my camp which is amazing… Well he’s also working with Anthony Pagan who actually had his pro debut at the last one March 21st at 2300. So he’s been working with him a lot. As far as Eddie getting back in the ring, I wouldn’t be surprised if you see another Wells Fargo fight. That’s where I would assume I would see Eddie because he’s a big ticket seller in Philly. So I think Dave [Feldman] would want him back there at the Wells Fargo.”

BKFC Philly Successes and Making History with Eddie Alvarez

To the point of Eddie Alvarez being a big bare knuckle ticket seller in Philadelphia, the former Bellator MMA and UFC lightweight champion helped break an attendance record for indoor fight cards in the Pensylvania city in what was the biggest attendance turnout for a fight card in Philly in over seventy years.

In September 1952, Rocky Marciano vs. Jersey Joe Walcott I at Municipal Stadium has held the Philly attendance record for a combat sports event with over 40,000 people attending. BKFC KnuckleMania 5, which advertised a headliner of Eddie Alvarez clashing with Jeremy Stephens, generated a BKFC Philly crowd of close to 18,000 ticket buyers at the Wells Fargo Center. In a separate Bare Knuckle Bowker interview, one of BKFC’s commentators was discussing the historical importance of that BKFC Philly card in January as Sean Wheelock stated,

“I was happy we were able to reward that state and that athletic commission with 17,800 paying customers on the Pennsylvania debut for bare knuckle back in January in Philadelphia. As you said yeah, it was the largest combat sports crowd [in Philadelphia] since Jersey Joe Walcott-Rocky Marciano, 1951… Which is unbelievable to me. Bigger than the UFCs that have been there, bigger than the Joe Frazier fights, but we did.”

“It was legitimate, there was not papering of that house, there weren’t comped tickets… So many celebrities, so many important people in state government, so many people who needed that access to be right in the front row. It was a really incredible night. We’ve had some pretty special, amazing nights in BKFC. But right now through I believe 126 shows, that for me is number one.”

  • Sean Strickland Suspension Extended Indefinitely By NSAC

Sean Strickland Suspension Extended Indefinitely By NSAC

Sean Strickland will have to wait a while longer before a return to competition.

A hearing on his temporary suspension, intended to be heard by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on July 23, was voted to be tabled until another time. This means that Strickland will be unable to compete until the NSAC has its hearing and gives a formal punishment to Strickland.

The next potential time such a hearing could be held is next month, as the NSAC’s meetings are monthly.

“In connection with the June 29, 2025 contest held in Las Vegas, NV, which the respondent was not participating in as a combatant,” Nevada deputy attorney general Matthew Feeley said during the meeting (per MMA Fighting). “The respondent engaged in a physical altercation with a contestant immediately after the contestant’s bout.”

Sean Strickland Suspension For Tuff-N-Uff Incident Extended

The origins of Strickland’s suspension come from a Tuff-N-Uff event held on June 29, broadcasted on UFC Fight Pass, as Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis were in the corner of Miles Hunsinger as he took on Luis Hernandez.

Hernandez scored a second-round submission via guillotine choke and then immediately started taunting Strickland and the rest of Hunsinger’s team.

Strickland and Curtis entered the cage, with Strickland throwing punches, landing at least one, before security broke up the altercation.

Strickland last fought in February at UFC 312, coming up short in a middleweight title rematch with Dricus Du Plessis.

  • TKO-Backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act Introduced In U.S. Congress To Bring UFC Structure To Sport, Boxing Community Split

TKO-Backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act Introduced In U.S. Congress To Bring UFC Structure To Sport, Boxing Community Split

The United States Congress has introduced a bipartisan bill that would create new legislation targeted toward the sport of boxing.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act would create Unified Boxing Organizations (UBOs) that would serve as alternative systems to the alphabet sanctioning organizations that currently govern the sport — the WBA, IBF, WBC, and WBO. The bill would allow a UBO to run events, as well as award its own championships and control its own rankings independent of those of the sanctioning bodies. Fighters would be allowed to enter the professional ranks through either the UBO system or the current system with the sanctioning bodies.

ESPN notes that the bill also require boxers to be compensated $150 per round. According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, most states don’t have required minimums, and six states that do have theirs set below $150.

The bill was introduced by Congressman Brian Jack of Georgia and Sharice Davids, a Republican and Democrat, respectively. Davids has competed in two MMA fights professionally, while Jack has been a long-time fan of boxing.

“To me, boxing is dying in America,” Rep. Jack told ESPN. “Every metric would affirm it’s in a steady decline. Pay-per-view numbers are down, HBO and Showtime have exited the sport. ESPN’s deal with Top Rank Promotions is expiring in August. The ambiguity of current regulations have stifled U.S. investments and we are proposing a bipartisan solution.”

Top Rank Boxing’s card this Saturday, July 26, will mark the final on ESPN since the two sides’ broadcasting agreement began back in 2017. Following this event, no major U.S. broadcaster will have boxing on their network.

Bipartisan Boxing Bill Introduced In U.S. Congress Draws Split Reactions Among Boxing Community

Rep. Jack added on, telling Mike Coppinger of Ring Magazine: “The tenant that will generate the most interest is establishing a regulatory framework for alternative systems to exist. And our perspective, some of the greatest legal minds of Capital Hill’s perspective is that current law (‘96 Ali Act) is ambiguous and this law is needed to clarify whether or not unified boxing organizations can exist…”

The Act reportedly is intended to expand on the original Muhammad Ali Act, passed in 2000, which itself expanded on the 1996 Professional Boxing Safety Act. The Muhammad Ali Act made boxing the only professional sport regulated in the U.S. by Congress — and the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act would be the first piece of legislation since.

Various voices in the combat sports world — including BoxRec’s Grey Johnson, Erik Magraken of Combat Sports Law, and Patrick Stumberg of Bad Left Hook — have expressed concerns regarding the new bill, however.

Magraken, among the others, feel that such a bill opens the door to potential exploitation of fighters that has been prevalent in MMA.

“Boxers compete for titles. Promoters compete for boxers,” Makragen wrote on social media. “If promoters own and control titles then boxers can be exploited by promoters.”

He also notes that the bill requires “the boxer has access to equipment and facilities that are operated by the UBO for training and rehabilitation” — which immediately drew a comparison to the UFC Performance Institute.

In the wake of the bill’s news, the Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association promoted a petition on its social media page, urging fighters to come forward and “please sign our petition in support of the real fighter protection bill—not the bill designed to exploit you and extend their monopoly to boxing.” This refers to expanding the original Muhammad Ali Act into MMA to end exploitations of fighters — their limitations, pay issues, and lack of benefits.

Also on that note, the timing of this bill is noteworthy, with TKO Boxing set to promote Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford this September in its first big event. TKO Boxing is led by Dana White, UFC CEO and President, and Turki Alalshikh, Chariman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. White has been a huge fan of boxing but previous ventures to become a promoter in the sport — most notably with Zuffa Boxing in 2017 — made no substantial progress.

A TKO spokesperson stated the following to ESPN: “We thank Rep. Jack and Rep. Davids for their vision in leading this bipartisan effort to bring innovation to the sport of boxing for the first time in 25 years. This is a thoughtful solution that preserves the original Ali Act of 2000 while providing boxers with access to more choices and opportunities, greater health and safety protections and better pay for up-and-coming fighters.

“We are proud to support the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act alongside the remarkable Lonnie Ali and the Association of Boxing Commissions in the effort to help restore boxing to its rightful place of prominence in America.”

In May, a five-tier pay structure for TKO Boxing was revealed that included boxer purses ranging from $20,000 for unranked boxers, to $750,000 for the promotion’s champions.

Sports Illustrated adds that the bill will also set a $25,000 health coverage minimum for injuries sustained during a fight, a total that is higher than the minimums set in 43 states. In UBOs, fighters who get injured during training would also receive health coverage.

There would reportedly also be stringent anti-doping testing and anti-betting policies fighters would be required to follow. Fighters, however, would not be required to pay sanctioning fees.

When describing what the model would look like for TKO Boxing, in its introductory March press conference, White stated: “Everybody knows the format—the best fight the best,” White said in March. “You work your way up the rankings, and once somebody breaks into the top five [and] there is no question [about] who the best five guys are in each weight class, they fight it out. And once somebody holds that belt, you don’t need three letters in front of the belt. Whoever has that belt is the best in the world in that weight class. It’s a very simple model.”

Stumberg, however, has pointed out various recent times in which this was not always the case, the most prominent being the Jon Jones-Tom Aspinall saga, as well as Sean O’Malley recent bantamweight title shot against Merab Dvalishvili — with O’Malley receiving a title rematch despite not fighting since the loss (while Dvalishvili had to go through a title defense against Umar Nurmagomedov).

As noted, the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) and Lonnie Ali, the wife of the late Muhammad Ali, have both voiced their support of the bill.

“The sport of boxing provided a pathway for Muhammad to become a global sports and cultural icon,” Lonnie Ali said. “Boxing elevated his public platform and gave voice to his fight for civil rights. If Muhammad was with us today, he would want to ensure the sport of boxing in America remained strong and viable for generations to come, providing opportunities for other athletes to pursue their goals and dreams, just like he did.

“Given its enhanced protections for boxers, I believe Muhammad would be proud to have his name associated with this bill.”

Congress is set to be in recess for August, so the bill will most likely be acted upon by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce in the fall.

  • Reinier de Ridder will stay ready if he beats Robert Whittaker in case of UFC 319 drama

Reinier de Ridder will stay ready if he beats Robert Whittaker in case of UFC 319 drama

UFC star Reinier de Ridder is ready to take on a late notice UFC middleweight title shot if called upon – and, of course, if he’s able to get through Robert Whittaker.

On Saturday night, Reinier de Ridder will battle Robert Whittaker in what is easily the biggest fight of his UFC career. If he wins, then he will be vaulted straight into UFC title contention – which says a lot about just how far he’s come in such a short period of time.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but Reinier de Ridder is flying right now in a manner that is similar to the rise of current champion Dricus du Plessis. DDP is set to defend his belt next month against Khamzat Chimaev, but if something happens to one of the two men in that main event, RDR has made it clear that he’s ready to step up.

Reinier de Ridder is ready for potential last minute title shot

“If I can do it well, and do it spectacularly, I think I have something to say about the title as well,” de Ridder said about his fight. “I think I can strike with him. I think I can wrestle with him and I think I can definitely choke him out.

“The most important thing is that I play my game. I put the pressure on him. I get close to him and that I don’t give him too much space to do what he does best.”

“Let me do it right first but I think if I can do well, and I can finish him spectacularly, I think I have something to say about the title,” de Ridder said. “Or maybe Khamzat pulls out last minute and that would be even better.

“We’ll see. It’s not going to be a lot of work because it’s only two weeks later. But yeah, I think so [I’ll stay ready just in case].”

  • Justin Gaethje doubles down on push for UFC lightweight title shot

Justin Gaethje doubles down on push for UFC lightweight title shot

UFC star Justin Gaethje has made it crystal clear that above all else, there’s one thing he truly wants and desires: another shot at the UFC lightweight championship.

We all know that Justin Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters of his generation. In addition to that, he’s also one of the most accomplished lightweights of his era. What he’s failed to do up to this point, though, is capture the UFC lightweight championship – which is something he wants to rectify before he hangs up his gloves for good.

Justin Gaethje has made it known in the recent past that he wants a crack at the lightweight belt, and that he believes he deserves it. While there’s every chance it’s going to happen, ‘The Highlight’ seems to have been at a bit of a stalemate with the UFC.

Recently, there’s even been talk of him facing Paddy Pimblett in a title eliminator. For Justin Gaethje, however, that simply isn’t an option.

Justin Gaethje continues to pursue title shot

“Absolutely not (fighting Pimblett),” Gaethje said. “If that’s the route that they want me to take, then I don’t believe that they need me anymore. I know that sounds petty or whatever, but I’m No. 3, I’m 3-1 in my last four, the champion (Islam Makhachev) was calling to fight me and he vacated. They bring a new guy in and give a guy who is 2-2 the fight. If their algorithm and their match tells them to just use me until I get beat, then I’m going to have to really reevaluate what I’m doing here.

“I’ve signed up for a merit-based system. I have lived by that. If they want to give Arman, which Arman had the fight, then I had the fight and I took someone else. He had the fight and pulled out. Those are two different scenarios. For me to get put in the same position and fight for my spot, then I’m going to be upset about that.”

  • Jack Della Maddalena is tougher fight for Islam Makhachev than Ilia Topuria, says Khabib

UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has emphasized that he believes Jack Della Maddalena is a tougher fight for Islam Makhachev than Ilia Topuria.

As we know, Islam Makhachev is moving up to the welterweight division in order to try and win a world title in a second weight class. While many believe he can achieve that goal, others are of the opinion that Jack Della Maddalena is simply too big and imposing for Islam to defeat – with Jack himself also falling into that category.

Someone who also knows just how good Jack Della Maddalena is, seemingly, is Khabib Nurmagomedov. In a recent podcast appearance, Khabib made it clear that this isn’t going to be a walk in the park for Makhachev as he attempts to make history.

Khabib Nurmagomedov praises Jack Della Maddalena

“I think Maddalena is the toughest opponent in Islam’s career,” Nurmagomedov told Hustle Show. “That’s my opinion. Not Charles (Oliveira), no one else. None of those other fighters. Not even Ilia, if that fight were to happen. That’s just my personal opinion.

“First of all, Maddalena is twice the size of Ilia. Taller, bigger, stronger legs, bigger frame. His boxing is just as good. And, in grappling, he scrambles really well if you’ve watched him. For me, if I was preparing Islam for either Ilia or Maddalena, I’d be more concerned about Maddalena.”

Jon Jones’ Future: A Boxing Attempt Would Destroy Legacy, Says World Champion Boxer

Former boxing champion Amir Khan doesn’t think that Jon Jones should make a run in the boxing ring.

As we know, Jon Jones is one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. While that may be a hard pill for a lot of his critics to swallow, it’s the truth. We all know about his many controversies outside of the cage but in it, ‘Bones’ was able to build something special – with the majority of his work coming at light heavyweight.

After retiring from the sport, many have wondered what could be next for Jon Jones. It seems as if he’s interested in a UFC White House fight next summer, but Dana White seemingly doesn’t quite trust him enough to put him on that card – for now, anyway. There’s always a chance he could venture into boxing, but again, there’s a lot of unpredictability there.

In a recent interview courtesy of Genting live casinos, the aforementioned Amir Khan gave his thoughts on Jon Jones possibly testing the waters in the boxing realm.

Amir Khan warns Jon Jones against boxing

“There’s no one touching him, honestly, one of the best, and put him in a room with anyone. He’s knocking them out. He’s cleaning him out. He’s very dangerous.

“He’s one guy you don’t want to meet in a backstreet, no matter who you are, even if it’s like a Mike Tyson, but he’s not going to be the same animal in the boxing ring.

“He’s gonna make himself stupid. I don’t think he ever needs to do that, because he’s only going to mess his own legacy up.”

Does Nate Diaz Have What It Takes to Battle Topuria in the Octagon – or Canelo/Crawford in the Ring? Stockton Slugger Eyeing All Options in 2025

Former UFC star Nate Diaz wants to get back to active competition – and it’s safe to say that he’s got a lot of big plans for when he does.

As we know, Nate Diaz is a big fan favorite in the world of mixed martial arts. He’s achieved some incredible things throughout the course of his iconic career, and the masses adore him for doing so. While he may never have quite reached the top of the mountain, he certainly became one of the biggest household names in the wake of his two-fight series with Conor McGregor.

Nowadays, though, Nate Diaz is outside of the UFC looking in. He’s made it clear that he’s interested in a comeback at some point in the future but in equal measure, he’s also pretty interested in the idea of carrying on with boxing.

In a recent interview, Nate Diaz opened up on a few of the potential opponents he could face in the middle of the cage or ring.

Nate Diaz wants to shake things up

“I would fight, with all due respect to them, Ilia Topuria. He’s doing a really good job. He’s a little small for me. On the boxing side, obviously Canelo or Crawford. I ain’t asking for nothing but, when I whoop someone’s ass, I’m gonna get them motherf***ers too. You know what I’m saying? With all due respect. So, that’s my plan. Those are probably the best fights.”

  • UFC 318 Fighter Thinks Big UFC 319 Title Bout Will “Define the Future of” “Middleweight”

One of the 185 pound competitors from UFC 318 has offered up his thoughts on the middleweight championship bout set to headline UFC 319 in the coming weeks. UFC 319 is headlined by middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis defending his crown against a surging title challenger in Khamzat Chimaev.

Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev

Appearing on Bowks Talking Bouts before his UFC 318 assignment took place, Robert Valentin covered several subjects in the pre-fight build to his clash with Ateba Gautier. When giving his thoughts on the machinations of the matchup between DDP and ‘Borz’, Valentin said,

“So I mean, this is one of the fights that is going to define the future of the middleweight division. I think Khamzat is a guy that could bring many new aspects to the division as being a champion. Just because of his entertainment value and also the way he fights. I mean Dricus du Plessis is obviously a very good athlete, great fighter, and also an honorable champion. But I’m just thinking in terms of value in the entertainment and what the fans want from the sport right now.”

“If Khamzat is going to win and take the belt, that’s a huge win for the fans as well. Because I think kind of the energy right now in the UFC is the people are demanding new, exciting champions and people that also fight to entertain, not just to win. In terms of that, I really hope that Khamzat is going to take the belt and give the fans an exciting performance and shake up the division again. Having a new champion is obviously always benefitting the whole division.”

UFC 319 main event analysis cont.

Robert Valentin continued to break down this key championship bout in his given weight category as Valentin stated,

“In my opinion, if he becomes champion in the last maybe eight years, he’d be one of the most skilled champions in the middleweight division. Just because of his well rounded MMA game. His wrestling is obviously super dominant.”

“Just the fact that he f***in broke Rob[ert] Whittaker’s jaw who is undoubtedly one of the most exciting champions in the middleweight division and also a very dominant champion, right. Just how he finished this fight is just incredible. So yeah, I really hope that he’s going to take the belt and bring a lot of new energy to this middleweight division.”

Alberto Blas signing with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing while still the reigning BKFC bantamweight champion sent a ripple effect through the world of gloveless combat with two prolific pugilists in the space offering up their thoughts on the undefeated Cuban combatant defecting to the rival promotion in the space.

Both of these standout bare-knuckle combatants appeared on separate episodes of Bare Knuckle Bowker and offered up their thoughts on Blas with Harry Gigiliotti and Travis ‘The Animal’ Thompson weighing in on this Blas situation. When the BKB super lightweight Police Gazette Diamond champion was asked about Blas defecting to BKB while he was still the reigning bantamweight champion in BKFC, Gigliotti said,

“Huge, yeah. Absolutely huge. I mean he was the 135, what, BKFC champ recently. But now he’s coming over here and he’s kind of gonna make his mark here. We’ll see, maybe I’ll go to 135 and try to take a pickin’ at that too at some point. So a lot of people asked me at the end of the fight [at BKB 43] like what do I want to do from here?”

“I said I could go to welterweight, I could fight Carlos Guerra. Or I could go down to lightweight and I could fight [Julio] Tanori, Jarod Grant or even Alberto Blas. So there’s a lot of interesting things that are happening as the sport kind of grows.”

BKFC 1 Vet offers up his thoughts on the Alberto Blas situation

It recently passed the seven-year mark in early June since Thompson’s BKFC 1 fight with eventual BKFC bantamweight champion Reggie Barnett Jr. Thompson has also gone on to fight eventual interim and lineal bantamweight champions throughout BKFC history like Jarod Grant and Dat Nguyen, respectively. When offering up his thoughts on the news of the Alberto Blas departure and the BKFC bantamweight belt now being vacant, Travis Thompson stated,

“Yeah, I mean it was crazy. I really wanted the chance to fight [Alberto] Blas because no one has alsted a roudn with him. You’re not going to put me out in a round, I don’t give a s**t about who you are. He has nothing I haven’t seen before and honestly I really wanted that fight. But he left and good luck to him. Do what you want to do but I’m BKFC through and through, one hundred percent. I’ll be coming for that title.”

  • “The John McEnroe of Pickleball” – The TUF Stuff: The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 Episode 9 Recap

“The John McEnroe of Pickleball” – The TUF Stuff: The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 Episode 9 Recap

Welcome, everyone, to the ninth edition of The TUF Stuff!

Each week, I’ll be guiding you through a recap of this season’s edition of The Ultimate Fighter, providing updates on what happens in each episode — from the drama and storylines out of the Octagon, to the looks into who the competing fighters are, to what goes down inside the cage.

This season celebrates the 20th anniversary of TUF. That inaugural season from 2005 helped to influence many future MMA fans, media members, and fighters (yours truly included). And now, two more fighters this summer will get the opportunity to call themselves TUF champions when it’s all said and done.

Last week saw the final first-round matchup of the season, a highly-anticipated grudge match between Team Cormier’s Rodrigo Sezinando and Team Sonnen’s Diego Bianchini. Sezinando scored a strong victory from a dominant second round to secure the final welterweight semifinal spot.

Recap of The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 – Episode 9

The semifinals begin tonight with a flyweight clash between Alibi Idiris of Team Cormier and Roybert Echerverria of Team Sonnen. One of these two will secure the first spot in the TUF Finale fights, held during the prelims for UFC 319 next month!

Also, Cormier and Sonnen play pickleball tonight in this season’s Coaches’ Challenge!

Let’s get into episode nine of The Ultimate Fighter!

    Coaches Challenge

$10,000 on the line for the coaches and $1,500 for the fighters as Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen play pickleball. And after a suggestion from Joseph Morales on Team Sonnen to make it $20,000 for the coaches (in recognition for 20 years of TUF), White decides the fighters will earn $2,500 each.

It’s the best-of-3 match with the first to 11 points winning a game.

Game 1 is all about learning the rules, including Cormier calling himself “The John McEnroe of Pickleball,” getting into it with the refs as he commits foot fouls. Cormier wins the game 11-6.

Game 2 sees Cormier commit foot foul after foot foul…but Sonnen just doesn’t have it, even despite a late rally. Cormier wins again 11-6, and he takes the match.

    Alibi Idiris Fight Prep

Cormier feels Idiris is a favorite on Team Cormier and that his style will be perfect to beat Echerverria. Idiris says he respects Echerverria but feels he knows Echerverria’s style of big blows. Idiris says he needs to create pressure and strike more, making use of his elbows, knees, and general offensive production.

Cormier agrees that Idiris has to pressure and cannot let Echerverria get comfortable. Cormier adds praise for Idiris’ cardio.

    Team Sonnen Training Session

Colby Covington says he sees members of the team not taking training seriously, comparing to the sprints he saws during Team Cormier’s practice. Covington tries to fire up the guys — “We’re not here to dress. We’re here to win championships!” and to get them “comfortable with the uncomfortable.”

Sonnen praises Covington’s leadership, especially as he sees a newfound energy from the team the rest of practice.

    Roybert Echerverria Call Home

Just like previous seasons, semifinalists are allowed to call home.

Echerverria says he knew he needed the phone call but didn’t know how much it did. “It gave me extra strength, extra everything.”

Echerverria admits that he feels like he is going to come out of TUF a different person than he was entering the season.

Alibi Idiris Phone Call Home (…Or does he?)

Idiris discusses his big family, who Idiris says he misses very much, but he has declined White’s offer to the TUF semifinalists.

“I don’t want to be impacted by my emotions,” Idiris says. “I understand that I need to work harder; they’re counting on my victory.”

Team Sonnen Training Session – Julianna Pena Joins

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 18 — as well as a TUF 30 coach — Julianna Pena, joins Team Sonnen for a training session.

Pena says winning TUF and going on to win a UFC title changed her life. Pena says the guys will never get another opportunity to just focus on themselves as a fighter, so they should make the most of it.

Matt Dixon describes Julianna Pena as a “woman of confidence.” Pena tells Echerverria he needs to focus and make this moment, adding that she wants another Venezuelan TUF champion to go onto UFC success.

    Roybert Echerverria Fight Prep

Sonnen says Echerverria has done everything right, with the perfect attitude.

Echerverria says he’s going to walk Idiris down and Idiris will try to shoot just to neutralize him. Sonnen, who says he has a fear of Idiris, tells Echerverria to stay disciplined and stick with his gameplan.

Sonnen says Echerverria’s keys to victory will be his conditioning and his high-level grappling.

“He’s got the mental toughness, he’s got a drive, and he’s got a reason to fight,” Sonnen said.

Echerverria says he will look to pressure Idiris and make him gas out.

The Fight: Alibi Idiris vs. Roybert Echerverria

—–IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE EPISODE AND DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO TURN AWAY NOW.———

Idiris weighs in at 125.5. Echerverria weighs in at 126. The fight is on!

Tumelo Manyamala says Idiris has the cardio and is “next level” as a fighter. He feels Idiris will be able to pressure Echerverria.

Joseph Morales says Echerverria is a well-rounded fighter with great grappling, who will probably pressure and submit Idiris.

    Alibi Idiris vs. Roybert Echerverria

    Round 1

Low kick from Idiris. Round kick to the body by Echerverria. Idiris with a right hand. Idiris misses on a combination, and Cormier tells him to settle. Cormier tells him to be patient. Front kick by Echerverria is blocked. Echerverria with some solid side-stepping. Echerverria avoids the pressure and lands a combination. Round kick from Idiris. Idiris with a right hand as Cormier tells him to keep the pressure.

Body punch by Echerverria. Right hand from Idiris. Idiris pressures Echerverria to the fence, but Echerverria lands a combination. Idiris looks for a takedown, but Echerverria gets away. It happens a second time. Idiris misses a jumping punch attack. Round kick by Idiris. Idiris with some spinning attacks. Idiris with a right hand again.

Strong body punch by Echerverria. Idiris goes for another takedown, but Echerverria avoids it. Cormier tells him to pressure again and to use his kicks. Echerverria lands to the body, and Sonnen tells him to continue. Right hand by Echerverria as Idiris starts pressuring again. Body kick by Idiris. Echerverria goes in, but Idiris prevents it. Idiris pressures Echerverria into the fence, and after some struggle, he’s able to get Echerverria down.

Echerverria goes for a sudden triangle choke, but Idiris escapes it quickly! Idiris lands a flying knee to Echerverria! A couple of follow-up shots, and despite some protest from Echerverria, the fight ends in the closing seconds of the first round!

Winner: Alibi Idiris via first-round TKO

    Conclusion

Cormier says Echerverria is better than he thought, thanks to his strong strikes and takedown defense. Sonnen says Echerverria didn’t live up to the gameplan, not changing elevation when Idiris came after him. Cormier adds that Idiris used punches to eventually secure the takedown.

White says that when Echerverria scrambled to his feet, he left himself open, allowing for the knee to land.

Idiris is so happy and gives thanks to Echerverria. Idiris tells White that he’s the next flyweight star, and that his name will be remembered. Echerverria’s coaches tell him he did everything great; he just got unlucky thanks to Idiris’ perfect timing.

Next week’s welterweight semifinal will see Team Cormier’s Jeff Creighton and Rodrigo Sezinando square off in a teammate battle.

Also next week, Sonnen takes his team out in Las Vegas to see Criss Angel.

What will happen next week? Join alongside us then!

Thanks for joining me for another edition of The TUF Stuff!

Magomed Ankalaev vs. Alex Pereira 2, Merab Dvalishvili vs. Cory Sandhagen, Jiri Prochazka vs. Khalil Rountree Jr Announced For UFC 320

While there will be no UFC pay-per-view in September, the UFC is loading up the card for what will hopefully be a memorable night of action in Las Vegas on October 4 with UFC 320.

UFC CEO and President Dana White took to Instagram Live on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 22, to confirm the leading bouts for the card.

The main event will be a UFC light heavyweight championship rematch between defending champion Magomed Ankalaev and former champion Alex Pereira. The two clashed for the championship back at UFC 313 in March, with Ankalaev pulling off the upset and claiming the gold.

Ankalaev has not lost a fight in MMA since dropping his UFC debut. Ankalaev has won three straight, knocking out Johnny Walker and scoring a decision over Aleksandar Rakic before the win over Pereira.

Pereira had won five straight before losing to Ankalaev. After defeating Jiri Prochazka for the then-vacant gold at UFC 295, Pereira defended the light heavyweight title three times in 2024, scoring finishes over Jamahal Hill, Prochazka, and Khalil Rountree Jr.

Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2 To Be Led In By Dvalishvili vs. Sandhagen & Prochazka vs. Rountree

The UFC 320 co-main event will see the bantamweight title on the line as Merab Dvalishvili defends against No. 3 contender Cory Sandhagen.

Dvalishvili claimed the title at Noche UFC 2: UFC 306 with a win over Sean O’Malley. He has since retained the title against both Umar Nurmagomedov and O’Malley in 2025. Sandhagen has won four of five since falling short in a 2021 interim title fight with Petr Yan, capped off by a finish of former flyweight champ Deivesion Figueiredo in May.

The previously mentioned Prochazka and Rountree Jr will also be featured at UFC 320, as they will take on one another. Both men come into this fight off wins over the aforementioned Jamahal Hill this year, with Prochazka finishing Hill at UFC 311 in January and Rountree sweeping the cards against Hill in the main event of UFC Baku last month.

White also confirmed the previously reported UFC 321 main event scheduled for later in October — a heavyweight title clash between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane.

Robert Whittaker looks ahead to tough Reinier de Ridder test

Ahead of UFC Abu Dhabi, Robert Whittaker has taken the time to look ahead at the challenge that lies in front of him as he prepares to battle Reinier de Ridder in the main event.

On Saturday night, Robert Whittaker will attempt to overcome a really tough test in the form of Reinier de Ridder. RDR is on a roll right now with a whole lot of momentum behind him, whereas ‘The Reaper’ is hoping to avoid consecutive losses following on from his defeat at the hands of Khamzat Chimaev.

In a recent interview, Robert Whittaker spoke candidly about where he’s at in his career, as well as his desire to bounce back.

Robert Whittaker looks forward to UFC Abu Dhabi challenge

“The middleweight division over the next few is just moving now,” Whittaker told MMA Junkie on Tuesday. “I feel like it was all kind of still for a little bit, but now everything’s moving. There are some big fights on the way.”

“I want to bounce back,” said Whittaker, who hasn’t lost two fights in a row since his welterweight days in 2013-2014. “After losing, I’ve always gotten better and come back with a win. It’s important for me to do that again to move toward the direction I want to go, which is that title.”

“It’s hard to explain, going to take forever to go through,” Whittaker said. “It’s hard. It’s a bigger thing to unpack. I don’t know. It is what it is. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.”

“He’s very good at taking the fight where you’re uncomfortable,” Whittaker said. “He’s got a particular set of skills and a particular game plan that, if he executes well, he gives you a lot of problems. Bo found that out the hard way. I’m looking to be first and take the game where I’m strong. …

“I love being aggressive. I’m a striker by heart, so I want to try and get my mitts on him.”

Cody Garbrandt once again calls for showdown with Sean O’Malley

UFC fighter Cody Garbrandt has once again made it clear that he’s interested in throwing down with Sean O’Malley at some point in the future.

Once upon a time, Cody Garbrandt was the UFC bantamweight champion. He also spent a lot of time being viewed as the next big thing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but unfortunately, things didn’t quite pan out that way. Following consecutive losses to rival TJ Dillashaw, his career seemed to unravel pretty dramatically – and that’s us putting it lightly.

Nowadays, Cody Garbrandt is looking for fights that really motivate him. In a recent interview, he made it known that he still wants to fight Sean O’Malley, who he’s had an ongoing feud with for quite some time now.

Cody Garbrandt still wants Sean O’Malley fight

“I would love to f*ck him up,” Garbrandt told MMA Fighting while discussing his partnership with Indian Motorcycles. “He just always talks shit. I think he has an infatuation with me. He’s so jealous of me and I can’t believe he became a world champion.

“He can’t wrestle for a lick, can’t defend a takedown. I mean, Merab straight bullied him. But he’s been calling me out forever, so I’ve been ready to fight that dude. I’ve got what it takes, I know how to beat this dude. The way that I fight, it’ll be a bad night for him. But that’s up to the UFC — I’ve tagged [Dana White], I tagged him in it. If that’s the next fight they want to do, I think that’s going to be a great pay-per-view fight, good drawing.

“He’s got a good fanbase, but they’re younger, you know, the Twitch people, the video games, but I’m a dog. I would love that fight.”

UFC star Michael Chandler has reiterated his desire to battle Conor McGregor – potentially at the UFC White House event next summer.

We all know the fight that Michael Chandler wants, because it’s the one he’s been calling for over the course of the last few years. It’s also the one that seems to make sense for both men, especially given that it was booked to happen not so long ago before McGregor eventually pulled out. Alas, given what he’s been doing outside of the cage, it doesn’t seem overly likely that it’s going to take place right now.

Next year, though, could be when it finally comes to fruition, given Conor’s interest in fighting at the White House. Michael Chandler, meanwhile, has suffered a string of losses as of late – and yet he’s still seen by many as an interesting contender in the lightweight division.

In a recent interview, Michael Chandler didn’t hold back when discussing the possibility of the fight still happening.

Michael Chandler reiterates desire to fight Conor McGregor

“Yeah, could be the president of Ireland, which would be very, very ironic.”

“Everybody knows that’s the fight that I want. I have said publicly that’s the fight that I want, but I’m also the guy who’s not going to wait for that fight. As you can see by me fighting Charles and then Paddy- two fights in five months. Once [Conor] got injured, once he pulled out of the fight, we had to move on. I could have just sat on the sidelines, but I was ready to get back in there and prove to the fans who I am, how I operate, and I want to put on fun, exciting performances.”
