  • UFC Vegas 46 Results & Highlights: Calvin Kattar Decisions Giga Chikadze

    UFC Vegas 46 went down tonight (Sat. January 15, 2022) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

    It was headlined by a meeting between Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze in a featherweight bout. 

    The co-headliner will see a heavyweight bout between Jake Collier and Chase Sherman. Katlyn Chookagian vs. Jennifer Maia in a women’s flyweight bout, Brandon Royval vs. Rogerio Bontorin in a flyweight fight, Viacheslav Borshchev vs. Dakota Bush in a lightweight bout and Bill Algeo vs. Joanderson Brito in a featherweight bout finishes out the main card.

    Bill Algeo vs. Joanderson Brito

    Brito scored a takedown in the first round within the first minute. Brito picked him up, carried him across the cage, and slammed him down before getting his back. Algeo scrambled and got on top in guard. Brito got back to his feet and they exchanged. 

    In the second round, Algeo caught him with a right hand right out of the gate. Brito tagged him before clinching. Brito worked for a takedown, but Algeo did a nice job of defending it. Algeo tagged him as they stood up. 

    In round three, Brito came out firing. Alego tossed him to the ground with under a minute to go and dished out some damage from back mount. Algeo got the decision win. 

    Viacheslav Borshchev vs. Dakota Bush 

    Busch scored a takedown in the first round and got on top in guard. Borschev got up and they stunned each other before Busch got a takedown and took his back. Borshchev dropped him with a big liver shot then finished him on the ground. 

    Brandon Royval vs. Rogerio Bontorin

    Bontorin clinched with him then slammed him to the ground where he was in half guard. Brandon scrambled back to his feet. With a minute to go, Bontorin scored another takedown, but Brandon scrambled right back to his feet. 

    In round two, Bontorin took him down, but Brandon grabbed a hold of the arm and went for an armbar, but Bontorin got out of it and took his back. Bontorin changed it up and got on top in guard. Brandon scrambled to his feet. Bontorin clinched with him and took him down, but Brandon was working hard to stay up. 

    In round 3, they came out firing. Bontorin did drop him, but Brandon got right back to his feet. Bontorin took him down. Brandon scrambled on top and dished out some shots. Brandon got the decision win. 

    Katlyn Chookagian vs. Jennifer Maia

    Katlyn got a takedown in the middle of the first round where she got half guard. Maia did a good job of defending and not letting her advance. Maia scrambled to her feet to end the round. 

    In round two, Katlyn worked for the takedown. They mostly clinched. At the end of the round, Katlyn did get the takedown and got her back where she kept her in place. In round three, they came out firing. Kaylyn was putting together head/body combos. Kaylyn got the decision win. 

    Jake Collier vs. Chase Sherman

    Sherman tagged him in the early going. Jake was pushing forward and landing. Jake did a trip takedown and moved onto top then full mount. Jake rained down big shots and Sherman was bleeding. Jake took his back and went for the rear-naked choke for the win. 

    Calvin Kattar vs. Giga Chikadze

    Giga slipped and Calvin jumped on top of him. Calvin got on top and tried to advance past half guard. Giga gave up his back briefly and this allowed Calvin to take his back and put him in a body triangle. 

    In round 2, Calvin was letting his hands go in the second round and was landing jabs. Giga was back peddling then reaching for his shots. Calvin kept pushing forward. Calvin rocked him with some big shots then landed a knee strike to the head. Giga put together a combo that included a head kick. Calvin got a takedown to end the round then smashed him while Giga got to his feet. 

    Round three featured Calvin pushing forward. Giga was trying to find some momentum and did land some shots. He was still being outlander by Calvin. 

    The fourth round, Calvin teased taking him down, but let it go as Giga was firing away. Giga was bleeding pretty good from the bridge of his nose. Calvin hurt him at the end of the round, but Giga survived. 

    In round five, Calvin continued the performance and dished out more damage to Giga, who was trying his best, but didn’t have anything for the output that was facing him. Kattar got the decision win.

    UFC Vegas 45 went down tonight (Sat. December 18, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

    It was headlined by a meeting between Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus in a heavyweight bout. 

    The co-headliner saw a welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Belal Muhammad. Amanda Lemos vs. Angela Hill in a women’s strawweight fight, Mateusz Gamrot vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira in a lightweight bout, and Cub Swanson vs. Darren Elkins in a featherweight bout finished out the main card.

    Cub Swanson vs. Darren Elkins

    Cub tagged him a few times. Elkins was bleeding from the early going. Cub dropped him with a combo, but Elkins got back up. Cub hit him with a spinning back kick and the referee waved it off. 

    Mateusz Gamrot vs. Diego Ferreira

    They came out kickboxing to start the opening frame. Gamrot scored a takedown, but couldn’t keep him up. In the middle of the round, he did it again and once again Ferreira got up. Gamrot got a third takedown, but had problems keeping him down. In the second round, Gamrot went back to the takedowns, but Carlos just wouldn’t stay down. Gamrot took him down, but when Ferrira ate a knee strike to the gut, he gave up. 

    Raphael Assunção vs. Ricky Simón

    Ricky scored a takedown and got into full guard. Assuncao got back to his feet only to be thrown down. Ricky dominated the first round in this position. Things ended in the second round when Ricky dropped him with a right hook then followed up with strikes for the win. 

    Amanda Lemos vs. Angela Hill

    Lemos dropped her with a front face kick and Hill dropped. Lemos got on top of her in full guard. Lemos kept her there and dished out some shots. In the second round, Hill came out swinging and was walking her down. In the third round, Hill got two brief takedowns. Lemos got up right away both times. They clinched up against the fence and they traded shots. Lemos got a takedown, but Hill was right back up. Hill knocked her down with a spinning elbow with seconds left. The judges gave the win to Lemos by split decision. 

    Stephen Thompson vs. Belal Muhammad

    Belal scored a brief takedown, but Thompson got right back up. Thompson was throwing kicks early. Belal tagged him with a right hand. Belal put him up against the fence and rained down strikes. Thompson answered with his own. Belal scored a takedown, got his back, and rained down strikes, but Thompson survived. In the second round, Belal went right back for the takedown, but Thompson got right back up. Belal with a takedown and got into side control. Belal held onto the right arm. Belal went right back to the takedown in the third round. While Thompson stood up and stuffed one takedown, Belal got it on a second attempt. Belal got the decision win. 

    Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus

    Lewis finished him in the first round with less than two minutes to go. They did some clinch fighting. Lewis caught him with a combo. Lewis hurt him with a few right hands before Chris folded to the ground and that was a wrap.

    UFC 269 went down tonight (Sat. December 11, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

    It’s headlined by a meeting between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier in a lightweight title bout. 

    The co-headliner saw Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Peña in a women’s bantamweight title bout. Geoff Neal vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio is in a welterweight fight, Kai Kara-France vs. Cody Garbrandt in a flyweight bout, and Raulian Paiva vs. Sean O’Malley in a bantamweight bout finished out the main card.

    Raulian Paiva vs. Sean O’Malley

    O’Malley was using his jabs nicely in the early going. They had a feeling out process and started to trade leg kicks. O’Malley had the range down. O’Malley briefly dropped him with a right hand then dropped him twice after that with combos until the referee called it off. 

    Kai Kara-France vs. Cody Garbrandt

    Kai dropped him with a big right hand and Cody got back up before being dropped again. Cody went for a takedown, but couldn’t keep him down. Cody was circling away to try to recover. Kai stunned him up against the fence then put him down and the referee stepped in.

    Geoff Neal vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio

    After having a feeling out process, they picked up the pace. Santiago was throwing various combos while Neal was mixing things up. Ponzinibbio did land a nice punch at the end of the first round. Ponzinibbio came out strong in the second round with his punches. In the middle of the round, Ponzinibbio got a double leg takedown. Neal got back to his feet quickly after. The third round saw Neal clip him with a right hook. Neal wobbled him with a combo, but Ponzinibbio fired back. The judges gave the win to Neal by split decision. 

    Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Peña

    Nunes dropped her early in the first round with a leg kick. Nunes then dropped her with a jab. Nunes got on top and rained down some shots. Peña went for a takedown of her own when she got up. Nunes took her down and got her back. Peña scrambled and went for a kimura, but the round ended.

    In the second round, Peña came out swinging and even rocked her. They had a wild exchange about a minute in. Nunes was loading up on her shots and missing. While Peña was landing shots, she was eating them. Peña continued to land and rock Nunes. Peña put her up against the fence and got a takedown then took her back before locking in the rear-naked choke for the win!

    Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier

    Poirier stunned him in the first few seconds of the round. They did some clinch striking. Charles with a knee strike to the body. Charles clinched with him up against the fence and got a brief takedown, but Poirier scrambled to his feet. Dustin rocked him up against the fence with a hook, but Charles kept coming forward. Dustin dropped him with a right punch and got on top briefly before getting back to his feet.

    In the second round, Charles worked for a takedown early in the round, but Poirier got up. Poirier shrugged him off and Charles went for an armbar, but Poirier rolled through and Charles got back on top. Charles landed some big elbow shots. In the third round, Charles clinched with him before getting his back and locking in a standing rear-naked choke for the win!

    It was headlined by a meeting between Rob Font and José Aldo in a bantamweight bout. 

    The co-headliner saw a bout between Brad Riddell and Rafael Fiziev. Clay Guida vs. Leonardo Santos in a lightweight fight, Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill in a light heavyweight bout, Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis in a middleweight showdown and Alex Morono vs. Mickey Gall in a middleweight bout finished out the main card.

    Alex Morono vs. Mickey Gall

    They had a feeling out process early. Alex dropped him with a jab with less than two minutes to go and he jumped right into guard. Gall tried to go for a few different submissions while getting punched in the face. He survived the round. Gall came out firing in the second round. Alex was throwing a lot of looping shots that most of the time missed, but did land a few and kept that trend rolling. Gall continued to press forward in the third. The judges gave the win to Morono.

    Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis

    After striking for the majority of the first round, Allen went for a single leg and pulled guard for an ankle lock. He kept a hold of the ankle, but Curtis ended up moving to half guard to wrap up the round. In the second round, Curtis rocked him with a right hook then swarmed him with strikes and knees to the gut for the finish. 

    Clay Guida vs. Leonardo Santos

    Santos trapped him up against the fence and Guida shot in for a takedown, but Santos swarmed him on the ground then the feet with strikes. Guida was covering up before dropping again. Santos unloaded with knee strikes then backed up. Santos was exhausted after all of that and yet Guida is still standing. Santos landed 46 unanswered strikes. Guida took him down and landed some shots to end the first round. Guida took him down to start the second round and landed several knee strikes to the body. Guida got his back and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win. 

    Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill

    Hill caught him with a left hook that dropped Crute, who recovered. Moments later, Crute landed the same shot again and flattened him then landed one good shot on the ground for the knockout finish. 

    Brad Riddell vs. Rafael Fiziev

    It was a slow start. Fiziev was doing a nice job of counter striking. Brad landed a strong combo to end the first round. In the second round, they both landed hard left hooks. Brad had a cut under right eye and was bleeding from his left temple. Fiziev had him pressed up against the fence, but Brad was doing a nice job in that spot. They clinched briefly. In the third round, Riddell got the brief takedown, but let him back up. Fiziev finished it with a wheel kick and Riddell went down hard. 

    Rob Font vs. José Aldo

    Font got a takedown early in the first round, but Aldo got right back to his feet. Font had a lot of speed and backed up Aldo. Aldo landed a big strike that dropped Font to end the round. In the second round, Aldo cracked him with an uppercut. It almost woke up Font who fired back with a combo then started landing jobs. Aldo side stepped him and Font slipped, but got back to his feet. In the third round, Aldo defended a takedown and got on top. Font got back to his feet. Aldo went to the leg kicks and was dishing out punishment with them. To start off the fourth round, Aldo stunned him then dropped him with a knee strike and Font went to the ground. Aldo got on top and landed some strikes. To start off the fifth round, they did some clinch fighting. Aldo dropped him in the middle of the round and got his back, but there was a scramble. Aldo stayed on him. Aldo got the decision win.
