VIDEO: Billy Elekana Survives Junior Tafa’s Power, Submits Him At UFC 325

Junior Tafa may have plenty of power in his fists, but Billy Elekana weathered the storm and used his grappling to score a submission victory in the featured prelim of UFC 325.

Elekana attempted to back Tafa up to the fence, but Tafa rocked him with a strong overhand right. Elekana was able to use his grappling to recover, though he had to escape a standing kimura grip. Elekana would also show his pressure in a takedown attempt, but Tafa was able to defend against it.

Tafa tried to keep the fight in the center of the Octagon and got to work with his powerful striking. Tafa landed a brutal combination at the end of round one; however, Elekana landed a strong left in the middle of the second — probably the hardest punch of the fight to that point.

Elekana then brought the fight to the ground and locked up a body triangle and a choke, scoring the submission victory.

Elekana, an alumnus of PFL and LFA, has now won three straight since dropping his UFC debut to Bogdan Guskov at UFC 311.

Tafa has now lost back-to-back fights and is 2-5 since his 2023 Octagon debut.

“Dude Was Tapping For His Life” – Fans Blast Chris Tognoni For Missing Tap Out As Billy Elekana Runs Through Kevin Christian At UFC Vegas 110

Another week, and another bad referee mistake — and this time it’s one that arguably spoils a strong performance from Billy Elekana, as he made easy work of Kevin Christian in the featured prelim of UFC Vegas 110.

The two traded plenty of leg kicks early on, with Christian seeming to get the better of Elekana in that battle. But things changed when Christian overextended on a left hand, allowing Elekana to drop him with a right.

The controversial moment came, however, when Elekana locked in a choke on Christian. Christian immediately tapped; however, referee Chris Tognoni looked on the opposite side of the tap. He never looked at the other side until Christian was out cold.

Elekana now improves to 9-2 as a pro, and he is 2-1 in the Octagon.

Christian sees a six-fight win streak snapped with this defeat.

“Cut Them Both” – Fans Rip Apart Billy Elekana And Ibo Aslan’s Uninspiring UFC Abu Dhabi Bout

Fans tuning into the preliminary card of UFC Abu Dhabi expecting a great fight were let down in a major way by Ibo Aslan and Billy Elekana, both of whom put on a lackluster effort as Elekana scored a decision victory.

The fight started cautiously, with both men trading low kicks. Elekana was more on a front foot than his opponent, though neither man landed anything significant.

The inactivity continued into the second round, with more feints, glancing kicks, and misses on strikes. Elekana had the advantage again, if only because of his front kicks and grappling pressure — though his takedown attempts were for naught.

Aslan landed low kicks late in the third, but Elekana landed a left hand that busted Aslan open, briefly wobbling him. Still, neither man showed any sense of urgency, including Elekana failing to follow-up on the wobble.

Two judges scored the bout for Elekana 30-27, while the other scored it 29-28 in his favor.
