It’s been a while, but Christian Rodriguez picked up another highlight in the Octagon, putting out Hyder Amil for a first-round finish at UFC Vegas 119.
Rodriguez caught a kick from Amil but couldn’t get the takedown. Rodriguez, however, threw and landed high kicks of his own, doing damage before scoring a takedown. Rodriguez got to the back, and while Amil escaped, Rodriguez tagged him with multiple right hands.
Rodriguez landed a devastating head kick that wobbled and dropped Amil. Rodriguez landed a couple of follow-up shots before locking in a guillotine for the win.
Christian Rodriguez Stops Hyder Amil At UFC Vegas 119
This marks the second victory for Rodriguez in his last five fights. He came into this bout off a split decision loss to Andre Fili at UFC Vegas 109 last August.
After racking up an 11-0 record to start his MMA journey, Amil, an alumnus of Dana White’s Contender Series, has now lost three straight. He started his UFC tenure with three straight victories.
