Khamzat Chimaev vs Dricus du Plessis: Darren Till makes his prediction

Former UFC fighter Darren Till has given his thoughts on the UFC 319 main event between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.

On Saturday night, Dricus du Plessis will defend his UFC middleweight championship against Khamzat Chimaev. This is expected to be a pretty close, intense battle between two of the best middleweights on the planet – and two of the most unique. At this point, nobody really knows what way it’s going to go, and there are many different predictions flying around.

One man who knows a thing or two about these men is Darren Till. The Liverpudlian fought and lost to Dricus du Plessis during his UFC run, and he trained extensively with Khamzat Chimaev, becoming quite close friends with ‘Borz’.

In a recent interview with Compare.bet, Till had the following to say about Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev.

Darren Till’s view on Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev

“DDP will be facing the highest level of wrestling, especially in MMA. Can Khamzat beat him early on? Most definitely.  But can DDP give Khamzat hell? Most definitely.

“I think it’s 60-40 in Khamzat’s favour, but I just say, when it gets into later rounds, does Khamzat have it [the stamina] to go that? But I think he’s training with Arman Tsarukyan, so I think it’s going to be a demolition job, well I hope it is. But don’t be surprised if DDP gives him problems because he is a phenomenal fighter.

“I think he’s going to drag Khamzat into deep waters, but I think Khamzat is going to be prepared, so I do see Khamzat winning any which way. But you cannot look past DDP. “

  • Luke Rockhold Ready To Throw Kicks In His Boxing Match Against Darren Till

Luke Rockhold Ready To Throw Kicks In His Boxing Match Against Darren Till

Luke Rockhold suggests that the incident that he and Darren Till recently got into might very well be a preview of how chaotic their upcoming boxing match will be.

Rockhold and Till got into a physical altercation at a recent press conference ahead of their fight that main events Misfits Boxing 22: Ring of Thrones on August 30.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Rockhold says that based on what he saw in Till at that press conference, as well as the negotiations and discussions about what weight the fight would take at, he questions if Till is preparing for the fight with true intent.

“It’s always good to get your eyes on the man you’re going to fight. I think he’s a little scared. He’s making a lot of excuses and he’s making up a lot of things in his head. So we’ll see what he comes with.

“He’s looking a little fat right now, so we’ll see how seriously he’s taking this thing. I’ve been working my a** off.”

Luke Rockhold Ready For Anything Darren Till Throws At Him At Misfits Boxing 22

The fight with Till will mark the professional boxing debut for Rockhold, the former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion. Since parting ways with the UFC in 2022, Rockhold has lost to Mike Perry in a BKFC bout and defeated Joe Schilling in Karate Combat.

Meanwhile, Till, the former UFC welterweight title challenger, won an exhibition bout with Mohammad Mutie (a fight that resulted in a post-match brawl) before victories over Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart earlier this year.

When discussing his strategy for the fight with Till, Rockhold said it will boil down to offensive pressure.

“I plan on bullying him around,” Rockhold said. “He don’t like pressure. He likes his space. I’m going to pimp him a bit, I’m going to feel him out, but I feel like I’m going to push the pressure, control him, and big brother him a bit.

“I plan on out-boxing him. I’m going to relax. I’m going to be myself. You got to respect Till; he’s got good hands. So, I got to get in his head, play the game, and look to execute. I think I can knock him out. I’m going to fight to win.”

Rockhold added that while it may not be a boxing match, and not an MMA one, he won’t be prepared to bring out MMA weaponry if he needs to.

Till, in fact, once was scheduled to face Tommy Fury before Fury withdrew, claiming he wouldn’t fight Till after Till’s promise to resort to “MMA tactics” if behind on the scorecards.

“If Darren wants to throw kicks, we can throw kicks,” Rockhold said. “No disqualification for kicks as long as he throws first.”

Misfits Boxing 22: Game of Thrones takes place on August 30 from the AO Arena in Manchester, England. The card will also feature Tony Ferguson taking on Salt Papi in the co-main event, as well as Dillon Danis’ return against Warren Spencer. The card can be viewed on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

Tony Ferguson To Compete In Boxing Match Featured On Darren Till vs. Luke Rockhold Misfits 22 Card

At 41, Tony Ferguson is set to pen the next chapter of his combat sports journey.

Ferguson is scheduled to make his influencer boxing debut on August 30 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England where he’ll square off against Salt Papi (real name Nathaniel Bustamante) for the MFB interim middleweight title, Misfits Boxing announced Wednesday.

The matchup will serve as the co-main attraction of Misfits Boxing 22: ‘Ring of Thrones,’ headlined by a showdown between former UFC standouts Darren Till and Luke Rockhold for the MFB bridgerweight title.

Till is gearing up for his third outing under the Misfits Boxing banner. Earlier this year, “The Gorilla” picked up back-to-back wins over Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart. Since parting ways with the UFC in February 2023, where he held a 6-5-1 record, the former welterweight title challenger has focused fully on boxing.

Meanwhile, Rockhold is set to make his gloved boxing debut after testing the waters in bare-knuckle competition with BKFC in April 2023. He most recently competed at Karate Combat 45 in April 2024, where he earned a TKO victory over Joe Schilling. The former UFC middleweight champion parted ways with the promotion following a unanimous decision loss to Paulo Costa at UFC 278 in August 2022.

When Was Tony Ferguson’s Most Recent Bout?

Tony Ferguson was once regarded as one of the most feared fighters in the UFC, having captured the interim lightweight title during a dominant 12-fight winning streak that solidified his place among the elite. However, the tide eventually turned, and he found himself on the wrong side of history, enduring a tough eight-fight skid.

“El Cucuy” suffered a first-round submission loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi in August 2024, marking his final appearance under the UFC banner. Despite the setback, Tony Ferguson never seriously considered retirement. He initially signed with the Global Fight League for a bout against Dillon Danis, but the promotion folded before hosting its inaugural event.

Meanwhile, Salt Papi is a standout in the influencer boxing world, having burst onto the scene with a pair of highlight-reel knockouts. The Filipino-born content creator holds a respectable 6-2 record.

  • Former UFC Star Darren Till Laughs At Tommy Fury’s Boxing Career ‘Nobody cares. No one’s asked’

Former UFC Star Darren Till Laughs At Tommy Fury’s Boxing Career ‘Nobody cares. No one’s asked’

Darren Till seems so unimpressed by Tommy Fury’s career that the idea of fighting him doesn’t even register as a serious option.

The two were originally set to throw down this past January, but the bout fell apart when Fury pulled out, seemingly shaken by Till’s threat to turn the boxing match into a brawl by kicking him. The warning rang out during the pre-fight press conference, leaving “TNT” apparently unwilling to gamble with the former UFC welterweight title challenger’s MMA roots.

As a result, “The Gorilla” faced late replacement Anthony Taylor and went on to score a sixth-round TKO victory. Meanwhile, Fury returned to the ring last Friday after nearly two years away, earning a unanimous decision win over Kenan Hanjalic in Budapest, Hungary.

With the victory, “TNT” extended his unbeaten pro record to 11-0, with the highlight of his career so far being his wins over YouTuber-turned-boxers Jake Paul and KSI in 2023.

Darren Till Mocks The Direction Of Tommy Fury’s Boxing Career

During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Darren Till pulled no punches when discussing Tommy Fury’s boxing career after being asked about the fallout from their canceled fight. He emphasized that there’s still a score to settle with his fellow countryman but added that he’s definitely unfazed if the fight never materializes.

“The Gorilla” further confidently claimed he’s now a bigger draw in boxing and mocked Fury for headlining in a modest venue in Hungary.

“Let’s just get it straight out here, please: I don’t give a f**k if I fight Tommy or Jake Paul,” Darren Till said. “Do I want to fight them? Yes, it’s a lot of money. But have you ever seen me begging for a fight with Jake Paul? No, I just don’t do that sh*t. I’m not gonna certainly beg for a fight with Tommy. So you can go off and fight in Hungary. Why are you even fighting in Hungary? Like, I’m still on Misfits, I’m still fighting on the big shows. He’s fighting in Hungary. No, nobody cares. Nobody cares. No one’s asked.”

Darren Till secured a dominant unanimous decision victory in his sophomore boxing appearance, defeating Darren Stewart in the main event of Misfits Boxing 21 on Friday night in Derby.

The matchup was originally scheduled for March 29 on the undercard of the KSI vs. Dillon Danis showdown. However, when the main event between the British YouTuber and Danis was scrapped, the entire card was thrown into uncertainty, delaying Till’s bout as well.

  • Darren Till Believes Dillon Danis ‘Said No’ To Fighting Him After KSI Withdrawal

Darren Till is claiming that Dillon Danis refused to fight him following the fallout of his bout with KSI.

Till was scheduled to take on Darren Stewart in the co-main event of Misfits Boxing 21 on March 29 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. The fight card was set to be headlined by a grudge match between KSI and Danis.

However, last week, the YouTuber-turned-boxer revealed that a three-week struggle with illness had led to the entire event being postponed.

Disheartened by the event’s postponement, “The Gorilla” voiced his frustration on social media, emphasizing that he was fully prepared for his fight. He even had a chance to salvage the card, but unfortunately, it didn’t come to fruition.

During a recent interview with iFL TV, Till revealed that he was offered a chance to face Danis in a reworked main event. However, according to the UFC welterweight title challenger, “El Jefe” ultimately declined the fight.

“Yeah, that was brought up, and I don’t know whether they said something like, they couldn’t do it for some political reasons, or I don’t know if he said no,” Darren Tll said. “I’m pretty certain that he [Danis] said no. I can’t imagine Dillon wanting to fight me in boxing. I tried to fight him, but obviously, that didn’t materialize. So I don’t know why. On my side, obviously, I said yeah, but who knows on their side.

Darren Till returned to competition after a prolonged absence following his UFC departure, making his boxing debut under the Social Knockouts banner in June 2024. In an unexpected outcome, he claimed a TKO victory over Mohammad Mutie.

“The Gorilla” later returned to the ring under the Misfits Boxing banner in January, competing in a professional bout where he secured a sixth-round knockout against Anthony Taylor.

Meanwhile, as Danis awaits the rescheduling of his bout against KSI, he remains booked to compete under the newly launched Global Fight League (GFL). He is set to face former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson in a bout provisionally set for May.

  • Darren Till Says Khamzat Chimaev Will ‘Run Over’ Dricus Du Plessis

One fighter familiar with both Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev expects the former to lose his grip on the UFC middleweight title should their expected fight come to fruition this year.

Having successfully defended his belt against Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland, the reign of Du Plessis could meet its tallest hurdle to date next time out.

“Stillknocks” appears likely to face the challenge of Chimaev, an undefeated phenom who most recently steamrolled Robert Whittaker by way of a teeth-breaking face crank submission last October.

And by the sounds of things, an ex-opponent of the champ’s and occasional training partner of Chimaev’s expects “Borz” to repeat that dominance in his first title fight on MMA’s biggest stage.

During an interview with Genting Casino, Darren Till gave a one-sided prediction for Du Plessis’ potential clash with the Chechen contender.

“I think Chimaev is gonna run over him. I think he’ll just completely run over. That’s what I think,” Till said. “I think he’ll win the title. I think he’s done what he’s done to do that, and I think Chimaev will get out, earn the money, and then I think he’ll live his life happily and peacefully then.”

The top contender didn’t think too highly of Du Plessis’ second championship defense, which came by way of decision in a rematch versus Strickland in Australia last month.

While “Borz” looks to unseat the South African from the middleweight throne, Till is focused on ventures away from the UFC after requesting his release months on from a submission setback to Du Plessis in late 2022.

UFC Counts Down Top 5 London Moments, Including Brutal Masvidal KO

Former welterweight star Jorge Masvidal featured as the UFC looked back on some memorable moments in London.

The mixed martial arts leader is back in England’s capital this week, with The O2 playing host to UFC Fight Night action on Saturday, March 22. Headlining will be former 170-pound champion Leon Edwards, who returns to compete in the city where he recorded a successful title defense back in 2023.

“Rocky” has had plenty more memorable moments in London, including a backstage altercation with Masvidal.

A 2019 trip across the pond provided plenty of notable highlights, largely thanks to “Gamebred.” Inside the cage, the Miami native began his surge to stardom by brutally knocking out home favorite Darren Till in the main event. Soon after, he delivered the infamous “three piece and a soda” to Edwards after having his backstage interview interrupted.

Of those two actions, Masvidal’s victory over “The Gorilla” made it onto the UFC’s recent video looking back on the five best moments from its past London cards.

The KO of Till was included alongside Arnold Allen’s rapid finish of Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev’s barnburner, Michael Bisping’s triumph over the legendary Anderson Silva, and Jan Blachowicz’s Fight of the Night battle with Jimi Manuwa.

Of those names, only Blachowicz will feature as part of this weekend’s lineup at The O2. The former light heavyweight champion will return from a lengthy injury layoff looking to defend his spot in the rankings against the fast-charging Carlos Ulberg.

  • Darren Till Targets ‘Mega PPV’ Clash With ‘Legitimate Boxer’ Jake Paul

Darren Till Targets ‘Mega PPV’ Clash With ‘Legitimate Boxer’ Jake Paul

Jake Paul is undeniably one of the most talked-about figures in crossover boxing, drawing constant callouts from fighters across the combat sports world. This time, it’s Darren Till eyeing a showdown.

Till ended his two-year hiatus after parting ways with the UFC and making his squared circle debut under the Social Knockouts banner, securing an unusual TKO victory over Mohammad Mutie.

“The Gorilla” stepped back into action under the Misfits Boxing banner in January, this time in a professional capacity, securing a sixth-round knockout victory over Anthony Taylor. It seem that the former UFC welterweight title challenger is now fully committed to his boxing career.

Till is now preparing to face Darren Stewart in the co-main event of Misfits Boxing 21 on March 29 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. However, he’s already setting his sights on several potential future opponents.

At the top of the 32-year-old Scouser’s hit list is “The Problem Child,” a fight he is eager to take on home turf in England.

During a recent interview with Genting Casino, “The Gorilla” had glowing praise for Paul and firmly vouched for his legitimacy as a true boxer.

“I think Jake is a legitimate boxer,” Darren Till said. “I think he puts real work, real hours in. He’s got a fully functional 24-hour team at hand because he’s got the money, obviously, to have this. So Jake’s a pro boxer now. Obviously, every fight I see him, he gets better. He improves. [He’s] a little bit slow, you can still see he lacks in certain areas. But by no means is he an influencer boxer that everyone was saying. For me, he’s a proper, proper boxer.”

Till further revealed that he has had his sights set on a showdown with Paul for quite some time. He also acknowledged the massive influence the YouTuber-turned-boxer wields in the combat sports world.

“He’s on my radar–am I on his? Who knows? He’s the big guy, I’m the little guy. He’s the big guy. As funny as it sounds as I’m from the UFC [but] he’s the big guy, I’m the little guy. I know what’s what. If you put an orange in front of me, it’s an orange. I just know that Jake Paul’s the big guy, I’m the little guy. I’m not gonna sit here and go, ‘I’m Darren Till from the UFC.’ He’s the big guy. I’m the little guy. So call it for what it is. That [me v Jake Paul] would be a mega pay-per-view. Not in America, in England, especially bringing in the whole Logan, Jake, KSI, me.”

“The Problem Child” last stepped into the ring in November, where he secured a unanimous decision victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson in a highly controversial heavyweight showdown.

Paul had his sights set on a high-profile showdown with Canelo Alvarez, but the fight ultimately fell through when the Mexican boxing superstar dismissed the idea, stating he was only interested in facing “real fighters.” Instead, Alvarez opted for a lucrative four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.

Darren Till Set For Second Misfits Boxing Match Against Fellow Former UFC Fighter

After a victory in his debut, former UFC star Darren Till is now set to make his second professional boxing appearance, taking on another former UFC Darren – fellow Englishman Darren Stewart.

The bout between “The Gorilla” and “The Dentist” will take place at Misfits Boxing 21 on March 29 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

The ex-UFC title challenger made his professional boxing debut just last month, scoring a sixth-round TKO of Anthony Taylor.

Till also competed in an exhibition boxing contest last July, stopping Mohammad Mutie in a bout that featured a post-fight brawl.

Darren Till vs. Darren Stewart Booked For Misfits Boxing On March 29

Till was once a rising unbeaten welterweight who made his MMA debut in 2013 and competed in the UFC between 2015 and 2022. After wins over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, he went on to lose to Tyron Woodley in a welterweight title fight at UFC 228.

“The Gorilla’s” MMA career ended with losses in five of six, with his final fight coming against current UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282.

Stewart, meanwhile, competed in the UFC between 2016 and 2021, going 5-8 (2 no contests) during his tenure there. He then fought in Cage Warriors for a couple of years before announcing retirement from the sport due to financial issues. Stewart finished his MMA career with a record of 16-10 (2 no contests).

  • Darren Till Defends Israel Adesanya Amid UFC Losing Skid: ‘He Should Be Worshipped!’

Darren Till Defends Israel Adesanya Amid UFC Losing Skid: ‘He Should Be Worshipped!’

Darren Till has come to Israel Adesanya’s defense following the former two-time champ’s latest loss.

The defeat in the main event of UFC Fight Night Saudi Arabia marked Adesanya’s third consecutive setback and has led to some criticism from corners of the fanbase. Having lost four of his last five fights, Adesanya faces increased scrutiny. Till, who also endured a losing streak before exiting the UFC, has dismissed any negative talk about “The Last Stylebender” as unwarranted.

In a passionate social media post, Till responded to claims that Adesanya’s supposed “downfall” should be analyzed, expressing frustration with his lack of appreciation for Adesanya’s accomplishments.

“I have just read a comment on an MMA page saying the downfall of Israel Adesanya needs to be studied!!!!!!!!! Can everyone on here who is not an absolute moron understand that statement!!!!!! I am trying so hard to understand it but can’t… I’m so confused… What downfall????”

Till acknowledged that his career didn’t meet expectations but strongly disagreed with applying the same narrative to Adesanya.

“I’ve seen people comment about downfalls, studies, etc.… all that sh*t like ‘the downfall of Darren Till needs to be studied.’ I get that. I should have excelled more in the UFC than I did, but some certain factors didn’t let me… But now, I swear I cannot even fathom that I have just seen a comment saying Israel Adesanya’s downfall needs to be studied. Me and Izzy aren’t friends, I wouldn’t even say I’m his biggest fan outside of the octagon, but that’s got f*ck all to do with what that man has achieved in this sport. He was a f*cking wrecking machine at middleweight. No one could beat him. At one stage, he looked unbeatable in his title reign. He made Paulo Costa look like a baby—who, by the way, had a war with Yoel Romero. He absolutely bodied Robert Whittaker. IZZY was an absolute wrecking machine in his day. He is without a doubt one of the middleweight GOATs, and it’s not even up for debate. In fact, he could lose his next five fights, and it wouldn’t change a f*cking thing about his GOAT status.”

Till also criticized modern MMA fans, arguing that they let personal biases affect their opinions of fighters.

“But these MMA fans today are so f*cking dumb. IQ of about 10. I just look and think, oh my f*cking god. Hope is lost. A man like IZZY should be worshipped among MMA fans and the UFC. He’s literally one of the all-time greats. You don’t have to like him. No one gives a f*ck, in fact. But we pay to watch fighting, and if it’s fighting we are talking about—MMA as per se—Izzy was one of the best.”

Till also pointed to Colby Covington as another example of a fighter whose skills are often overlooked due to his polarizing personality.

“Problems nowadays are all these dumb c*nts on here let their emotions take over the facts. So if someone doesn’t like a fighter’s personality, they say they’re sh*t. Prime example: Colby Covington. You all hate him, so you all say he’s sh*t. He’s this, he’s that. Colby Covington is a top-tier f*cking division wrestler. The motherfcker runs up mountains. He lives and breathes the sport. He’s an absolute savage. Cardio for days like I’ve never seen. But because he acts like a complete fool, everyone likes to say he’s sh*t, acting on their own personal emotions towards him. Use are all f*cking dumb. Dumb as fck. Over and out!”

As for Adesanya, he has remained quiet about his fighting future following the loss.

Former UFC star Darren Till has come out on top in his first professional boxing bout, defeating Anthony Taylor via knockout in the main event of Misfits Boxing 20 in Manchester, England.

After thoroughly dominating Taylor for five rounds, coming in with a notable advantage in height and reach, “The Gorilla” put his fellow MMA veteran down with a power combination in the sixth.

Till was originally booked to face Tommy Fury in this fight but “TNT” withdrew from the bout after the Liverpudlian claimed he’d use “MMA tactics” if he fell behind on the scorecards.

“The Gorilla” previously competed in an exhibition boxing match back in July 2024, scoring a bizarre TKO over Mohammad Mutie, with a brief brawl coming after the fight.

VIDEO: Darren Till Has Strange First Faceoff With Anthony Taylor Ahead Of Misfits Boxing Match

If there exists a list of the weirdest staredowns in combat sports, Darren Till’s recent faceoff would definitely make the top five.

Till is poised to lock horns with renowned influencer boxer Anthony Taylor in an eight-round heavyweight showdown, headlining Misfits X Series 20 on Jan. 18 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

Ahead of their showdown this weekend, Till and Taylor came together at the pre-fight press conference on Thursday. After a relatively tame exchange on the mic, the two boxers engaged in one of the most bizarre staredowns in recent memory.

Taylor made every effort to spice up the faceoff with some quirky banter during the close encounter, but “The Gorilla” remained largely unfazed. At one point, Till even walked off the stage, leaving everyone puzzled, only to return moments later.

“I’m about to make easy work of you,” Taylor said. “Yeah, I’m about to get them veneers redone for you. I want you to say something. You think you big and bad because you trained with pro boxers. Your whole team is sh*t.”

Till was originally slated to face Tommy Fury at the same event but “TNT” withdrew from the bout, citing concerns over the playful threat of being kicked by the former UFC welterweight title challenger — a warning Till jokingly issued during the promotional press conference.

“The Gorilla” has been relatively inactive since parting ways with the UFC, where he endured a challenging 1-5 record in his final six bouts. However, he returned to action in a boxing match at Social Knockouts 3 in July 2024, earning a bizarre TKO victory over Mohammad Mutie.

  • Darren Till Reacts To Khabib Nurmagomedov Dismissing Dagestan vs. Ireland Rivalry: ‘For Him To Sit There & Say…’

Darren Till Reacts To Khabib Nurmagomedov Dismissing Dagestan vs. Ireland Rivalry: ‘For Him To Sit There & Say…’

Bellator Lightweight Champion Usman Nurmagomedov aims to further cement his legacy when he faces Ireland’s Paul Hughes on Jan. 25 in Dubai. Hughes earned his shot at the title after a victory over AJ McKee in October, setting the stage for this high-stakes clash.

The fight has sparked comparisons to the legendary rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, which peaked in 2018 when Khabib secured a dominant submission victory over McGregor. However, Khabib dismissed the notion of a deep rivalry between Ireland and Dagestan in MMA, making some blunt remarks about the talent disparity.

“Ireland don’t have fighters, brother,” Khabib said in a recent interview posted by PFL. “Let’s be honest. How many fighters do you know from Ireland? Paul Hughes and Conor [McGregor], and who else? There are no fighters. You come to Dagestan, you understand. So many organizations don’t even sign Dagestan fighters because they worry everybody can become champion. Dagestan’s level of MMA is up here. But Ireland’s level? Not even half of Dagestan’s level.”

This comment sparked a response from former UFC contender Darren Till, who defended Irish MMA on X.

“I’ve always respected Khabib and his team a lot, they are fantastic fighters,” Till wrote.” But for him to sit there and say fighters from Ireland are low level. In comparison of sizes of countries and production, Ireland is actually way ahead. Ireland is so f*cking small and Russia is so f*cking big. Ireland has produced amazing fighters over the years. I would said just over size and production of the country, Ireland wins every time, and this is not me being biased because I am neither friends with khabib’s side or Ireland’s side I’m just stating my opinion.”

The contrasting views have ignited debate among fans, further heightening interest in the Nurmagomedov vs. Hughes matchup.

While Khabib Nurmagomedov’s remarks highlight Dagestan’s dominance in MMA, Till’s defense of Ireland emphasizes the remarkable achievements of Irish fighters given their country’s size.

  • Darren Till Gets New Opponent For Misfits Boxing Debut After Tommy Fury’s Withdrawal

Darren Till Gets New Opponent For Misfits Boxing Debut After Tommy Fury’s Withdrawal

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till will still be making his combat sports return next month.

Since departing mixed martial arts’ leading promotion following a defeat to then-future middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis, which left him 1-5 across six fights since a main event win over Stephen Thompson, “The Gorilla” hasn’t been too active outside the cage.

His return came this past July in Dubai, where he faced Mohammad Mutie in an exhibition boxing match. The bout ended controversially after some rabbit punches to the back of Mutie’s head saw him choose not to continue, sparking a brawl with the Liverpudlian.

Months later, it was announced that Till would be kicking off his 2025 in a more high-profile spot, headlining the Misfits Boxing event on Jan. 18 against Tommy Fury. But “TNT,” who has already boxed both Jake Paul and KSI, withdrew recently due to fears of Till engaging in MMA tactics — a threat the former UFC star made at the press conference.

While that left Till’s status on the card uncertain, a replacement opponent has been confirmed. The promotion announced Sunday that ex-Bellator fighter and Misfits veteran Anthony Taylor will step in to face “The Gorilla” at Manchester’s Co-op Live.

The main event will be contested at heavyweight for a maximum of eight rounds.

Though Taylor has risen to prominence as part of the influencer boxing game, his combat sports tenure started out with 11 professional outings as a mixed martial artist.

With that in mind, perhaps he’ll be better suited to any “MMA tactics” Till will bring to the ring than Fury.

Tommy Fury Cancels Darren Till Boxing Match After Former UFC Fighter’s ‘Kicking’ Threats

Tommy Fury has withdrawn from his upcoming boxing match with former UFC title challenger Darren Till due to his concerns about the fight. The two men were set to meet in a main event bout at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on a Misfits and DAZN card.

During their recent press conference to promote the fight, Till made remarks that if he was losing the contest, he would get himself disqualified by choosing to kick Fury instead. In a post on social media, Fury claimed that for this reason, he isn’t going ahead with the fight.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics. I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

Till has since responded via several social media posts and videos where he heavily criticized Fury for withdrawing from the fight for this reason when he was simply trying to sell the fight and hasn’t said anything similar since. He also called out Jake Paul, claimed that Fury was never going to fight on that date in the first place and said that he will be staying on the January 18 card in Manchester with a new opponent currently being searched for.

VIDEO: John Fury Goes Back & Forth With Darren Till, Sparks Near-Brawl At Misfits Boxing Press Conference

By now, it’s crystal clear — John Fury and public events are a recipe for chaos every time.

On Tuesday, Fury Sr. joined his son, Tommy Fury, and former UFC star Darren Till on stage at the kickoff press conference for their Misfits Boxing showdown, scheduled for January 2025 in Manchester.

The atmosphere at the presser intensified when “The Gorilla” fired a barb at John’s other son, Tyson Fury, mocking his first career loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight title bout this past May.

Fury Sr. didn’t take the jab lightly and, consumed by rage, flung a bottle of water at Till, triggering a chaotic, melee-like scene. Security quickly intervened to disperse the escalating tension while Till aggressively pushed forward to confront the Furys.

Fury and Till are set to face off in an eight-round heavyweight showdown, headlining Misfits Boxing 20 on Jan. 18 at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England.

“TNT” is coming off a dominant unanimous decision victory over social media sensation KSI at the MF & DAZN: X Series 10 event in October 2023, which came on the heels of his narrow split decision win against Jake Paul. Fury remains undefeated, boasting a perfect 10-0 professional record, with four of those victories coming by knockout.

Meanwhile, “The Gorilla” made his squared circle debut at Social Knockouts 3 in July, facing off in a chaotic bout against Mohammad Mutie that escalated into a takedown and an all-out brawl inside the ring.

  • Stephen A. Smith’s Take On Jones vs. Aspinall Infuriates Former UFC Fighter: ‘Ban This Man From Speaking’

Stephen A. Smith’s Take On Jones vs. Aspinall Infuriates Former UFC Fighter: ‘Ban This Man From Speaking’

Sports television personality Stephen A. Smith sees UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones as the “best on the planet” and can’t picture anybody getting the better of him, Tom Aspinall included.

Smith provided his reaction to Jones’ latest performance — a TKO victory over Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309 — on a recent episode of First Take alongside Shannon Sharpe on ESPN.

The former light heavyweight kingpin added a first successful heavyweight defense to his record at Madison Square Garden, stopping the returning Miocic with a brutal spinning side kick to the body in round three.

No sooner had Jones had his hand raised in “The Big Apple,” talk turned to a much-awaited title unification fight with interim champ Aspinall, who was cageside at MSG after weighing in as backup for the main event last Friday.

But while Jones’ repeated dismissal of the Brit has led some to suggest he fears defeat, Smith isn’t entertaining that as a possibility.

“I think he’s the best on the planet. He’s the greatest in MMA that I’ve ever seen,” Smith said. “I’ve always said to everybody, you’ve got to show me to make me believe that somebody’s going to beat Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, ’cause I just don’t see it happening. He’s just too elite.”

When a clip of his remarks was posted on X, Aspinall’s fellow countryman, ex-UFC title challenger Darren Till, made his thoughts on Smith clear…

“Stephen A Smith has the IQ of a mole,” Till wrote. “Please ban this man from ever speaking about anything ever again.”

Smith has previously caught the ire of the MMA community, most notably when he suggested Donald Cerrone “didn’t want to be there” when he was blitzed by Conor McGregor in 40 seconds at UFC 246.

  • Former UFC Title Challenger Darren Till Set To Box Tommy Fury At Misfits Event

Former UFC Title Challenger Darren Till Set To Box Tommy Fury At Misfits Event

Former UFC welterweight and middleweight contender Darren Till will be returning to the boxing ring, this time making his professional debut.

Till, who competed unsuccessfully for the 170-pound gold on MMA’s biggest stage, will face Tommy Fury on Jan. 18 in the main event of a Misfits Boxing card at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

Ariel Helwani broke the news on social media this weekend.

Till competed in a boxing ring for the first time earlier this year, defeating Mohammad Mutie at an event in Dubai. The bout was infamous for Mutie being ruled unable to continue due to an injury from what appeared to be rabbit shots to the back of the head, but the two continued to brawl after the bout was declared over.

Darren Till To Make Professional Boxing Debut Against Tommy Fury

Till was once a rising English prospect who joined the UFC as an undefeated fighter in 2015. “The Gorilla” went 5-0-1 to start his UFC run, which included wins over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

That earned him a welterweight title shot against Tyron Woodley at UFC 228, which the Scouser lost via second-round submission.

Till went on to get knocked out by Jorge Masvidal in upset fashion, marking the start of “Gamebred’s” sudden rise to superstardom. The Brit then rebounded with a decision win over Kelvin Gastelum in his middleweight debut, but he was unable to continue that winning form at 185 pounds.

“The Gorilla’s” UFC run ended with three straight losses against Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, and current middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis.

The 10-0 Fury, meanwhile — the half-brother of former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury — will be fighting after being inactive throughout 2024. “”TNT” handed Jake Paul his sole boxing loss in February 2023 before a decision win over KSI eight months later.

  • Darren Till Takes Aim At Top UFC Middleweight Names: ‘Whittaker, I F**king Love You, But I Beat You’

Darren Till Takes Aim At Top UFC Middleweight Names: ‘Whittaker, I F**king Love You, But I Beat You’

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has been getting vocal about the division he was once a part of, and that continued this week with some opinions on the top middleweight fighters.

Till hasn’t competed in mixed martial arts since a defeat to then-future champion Dricus Du Plessis in late 2022. The start of the subsequent year saw “The Gorilla” granted his release from the UFC, and he’s since had just one boxing outing.

All the while, the Liverpool native has vowed to return to the Octagon down the line and hasn’t shied away from giving his assessments of various fighters and matchups, especially at his most recent fighting weight in the UFC of 185 pounds.

That was on display this month when Till posted numerous tweets about the UFC 305 main event between Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya, offering advice to the latter while constantly berating his former opponent.

That trend has remained this week, but it wasn’t just the South African taking fire…

Till Berates Some, Praises Others: ‘DDP I Hate Your Guts…Sean I Like’

In a recent X post, Till gave his honest take on a number of notable names in the middleweight division, expressing somewhat positive thoughts on Marvin Vettori, Sean Strickland, and Robert Whittaker.

All three still caught some flak, but it was Du Plessis and Adesanya who took the brunt of it.

“Marvin I really like but ur sh*t. DDP I hate ur guts and ur sh*t. Izzy!!!! Ur gay and ur sh*t. Sean I like and ur ok cos u beat me up in the gym once I boxed ur head off. Whittaker I f**king love u but I beat you, you chose the sh*thouse way and took me down 10 seconds in the last round… ur sh*t.”

Till also didn’t miss an opportunity to quip at himself.

“Have I missed anyone out? Oh sh*t yeh… myself, I’m f**king so shit I really am.”

And newly crowned UFC Welterweight Champion Belal Muhammad also briefly entered the Scouser’s crosshairs.

“Also Belal Muhammad isn’t a real fighter strip him of his title he cheated against Leon!!!!!”

  • Darren Till Bemoans Negative Reaction To His UFC 305 Advice For Israel Adesanya: ‘You Just Have To Love The Internet’

Darren Till Bemoans Negative Reaction To His UFC 305 Advice For Israel Adesanya: ‘You Just Have To Love The Internet’

Darren Till recently expressed frustration with the backlash he received online after offering fight advice for Israel Adesanya’s upcoming bout against Dricus Du Plessis.

“The Last Stylebender” is poised to challenge the reigning middleweight champion in the main event of UFC 305, set to take place this weekend at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.

Drawing upon his own encounter with Du Plessis at UFC 282 in December 2022, Till recently took to X to offer Adesanya some strategic insights for his highly anticipated return. He highlighted the critical role of feints, advising Adesanya to use them to provoke overreactions from Du Plessis, who has a tendency to overcommit under pressure.

“The Gorilla” suggested that Adesanya maintain his distance and wait for the perfect moment to unleash his powerful strike combinations. Reflecting on his own fight, Till noted that “Stillknocks” often charges in recklessly and urged the Nigeria-born Kiwi to be cautious in those moments. Instead of retreating, the Brit advised that Adesanya should stand his ground and counter with a well-timed strike, turning Du Plessis’ aggression into an opportunity for a decisive blow.

Till’s analysis and fight recommendations were grounded in realism and could prove invaluable for the former longtime champion. However, what he didn’t foresee was the wave of mockery from fans, who quickly turned on “The Gorilla” due to his loss to Du Plessis.

Now, the former UFC star has a few words for the MMA community…

Till Strikes Back At Critics Of UFC 305 Advice For Adesanya

Frustrated by the torrent of online criticism following his advice to Adesanya, Till recently took to X to clap back at his naysayers.

The former UFC welterweight title challenger highlighted the irony of the MMA community, pointing out that while fans are quick to impose their opinions, they rejected his insights simply because they came from an ex-UFC fighter.

“MMA fans & trolls are the best. I see them all the time giving advice to fighters and opinions, etc,” Till tweeted. “But me…. An ex-UFC fighter is not allowed to give anyone advice cos they jump on saying what do I know, etc… Arghhhh, swear to god, you just have to love the internet. It’s great…”

After a series of tough losses in the Octagon, “The Gorilla” chose to part ways with the UFC and stepped into the world of free agency. He returned to competition for the first time since UFC 282, making his squared-circle debut in a four-round exhibition bout against Mohammad Mutie at Social Knockout 3 last month.

Till secured a second-round TKO, but the future of the 31-year-old Scouser in combat sports now remains uncertain.

  • Dricus Du Plessis Reacts To Former Opponent Darren Till’s Advice For Israel Adesanya: ‘I Did Hit Him Hard…’

Dricus Du Plessis Reacts To Former Opponent Darren Till’s Advice For Israel Adesanya: ‘I Did Hit Him Hard…’

UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus Du Plessis got a good laugh out of Darren Till’s recent attempt to impart some wisdom to Israel Adesanya.

Du Plessis is currently on Australian soil for his first defense of the 185-pound gold, which he wrested from the grasp of Sean Strickland at the UFC 297 pay-per-view in Canada this past January.

Seven months on, the South African titleholder will finally share the Octagon with Israel Adesanya over a year on from the start of their bitter feud. They’re tasked with headlining UFC 305 inside the RAC Arena in Perth.

Ahead of his attempt to achieve a record third middleweight crowning, Adesanya recently received some advice from a former opponent of the champ’s. Till, who was submitted by Du Plessis in his final UFC fight in December 2022, took to X in an attempt to outline how “The Last Stylebender” can get the better of “Stillknocks.”

Having had his attention turned to the tweet, Du Plessis had one poignant question — if you know how to do it, what stopped you at UFC 282?

Du Plessis Laughs Off Till’s UFC 305 Advice For Adesanya

During a fight week interview with Fox Sports’ mainevent, Du Plessis was asked if he had seen Till’s attempt to pass down some helpful tips to Adesanya from his experience sharing the cage with the current champion.

The South African sent a reminder about how their fight played out 20 months ago, before making a jibe about the post-match brawl Till was involved in following his disappointing combat sports return in a Dubai-held boxing match in early July.

“See, I did hit him hard,” Du Plessis said. “And he seemed to forget — he said he beat me after two rounds. I think in the first round, the strike (count) was 61 strikes for me and zero for me. Then the second round, he had a good round until I took him down. In the third round, I just outstruck him, took him down, and finished him.

“I mean, I appreciate it, Darren Till is trying other — I know he got taken down by a boxer in the boxing ring. I assume he’s trying a different career path of coaching, so let’s see how that goes,” Du Plessis sarcastically continued. “He should probably mention, ‘Try to defend the takedown or your neck,’ because he didn’t. What’s the guy saying? It was ridiculous. If you saw it that good, why didn’t you do anything about it?”

Till’s gaze has evidently remained on the upcoming showdown between his former opponent and Adesanya Down Under.

More recently, “The Gorilla” once again commented on Du Plessis’ style after seeing a clip from the South African’s open workout in Perth. The ex-UFC fighter described the champ’s striking as “so sh*t that it works.”

Darren Till On Israel Adesanya Being In The Top 10 MMA GOAT List: MMA Fans Are Quick To Go ‘You’re S**t!’

Israel Adesanya has got a huge task waiting for him on August 17 in Perth, Australia.

After losing his UFC middleweight title in a shock upset against Sean Strickland at UFC 293, he made the decision to take some long overdue time away.

In fact, his one-year break is the longest he has taken since signing to the UFC, where he has been one of the most active major names on the roster.

Coming back to face Dricus Du Plessis is a tall order but in doing so, he can make history by becoming a three-time champion at 185 pounds.

It was already incredibly impressive when he got revenge over Alex Pereira in their rematch to win back the title for the second time but to do it again, could put him into all-time great conversations.

Darren Till Agrees That UFC 305 Is Huge For Israel Adesanya’s Legacy

During a recent interview with Title Sports Network, former UFC middleweight contender Darren Till gave his thoughts on what a win at UFC 305 could do for Adesanya’s legacy.

Having already looked to pass on some advice to “The Last Stylebender” based on what he learned in his fight with Du Plessis two years ago, the scouse fighter has always been open about being a fan of Adesanya.

He agreed with the sentiment that reclaiming the middleweight throne will at least put Adesanya into ‘top 10’ conversations regarding legacy.

Till did also add that this in itself is a problem with the MMA fanbase, where opinions can change drastically from fight to fight due to recency bias.

“Yeah, I think if Adesanya beats Du Plessis, he’s in that conversation [of top 10 GOATs in MMA] cuz he’s beat everyone. So yeah, I think people, this is the problem again we were talking about the MMA fans, they’re so quick to just go, ‘Oh you’re s***!’ It’s just quite annoying like Adesanya is a f****** phenom and I’m one of them guys that talk a lot of s*** but when it comes down to reality, you have to give like respect to some of these, yeah the props, 100%.”

Darren Till’s Detailed Advice To Israel Adesanya On How To Fight Dricus Du Plessis: ‘You’re A High Level Striker So You Know What Am On About…’

Former UFC middleweight contender Darren Till and Israel Adesanya have had an interesting relationship with one another during their careers.

When Till made the decision to move up to middleweight, he was immediately on the radar of the champion at the time.

As a former title challenger at 170-pounds, his win over Kelvin Gastelum immediately put him in the mix and with both Till and Adesanya being specialist strikers, the match-up sold itself.

The fight never did materialize after “The Gorilla” suffered three consecutive losses before parting ways with the promotion.

His final outing inside the Octagon came at UFC 282 where he faced the man that would go on to become champion and defend the title against Adesanya this weekend at UFC 305.

Darren Till Gives Breakdown & Advice For Israel Adesanya On How To Beat Dricus Du Plessis

In a post on X, Till gave Adesanya some advice based on what he learned in his fight with Dricus Du Plessis in December of 2022.

The scouse fighter was submitted in the third and despite taking a beating in the opening round, he was able to have some success in the striking ranges against “Stillknocks” in the second.

His accurate combinations were much too fast for Du Plessis at the time and this is where he believes that Adesanya may be able to capitalize.

Till passed some knowledge on to “The Last Stylebender” about drawing reactions from the champion as well as standing his ground instead of fighting off of the back foot.

“Got some advice for Izzy on how to fight DDP on Saturday. Lots of feints… he reacts to them so much and throws from the hills. Then you can step back. Have a look and either for for the punch combo or knee maybe a kick. Ur a high level striker so u know what am on about. Everyone on here won’t have a clue but they will try to understand it. Only the elite strikers get it.

“As he rushes in also do what you did against rob and I did the same. Urs knocked rob out as where as mine didn’t but still same same. DDP will rush in. Instead of standing back or going back like most of these silly stupid strikers do. Stand ur ground and just hit him with either again the punch combo or even a knee up the middle. I personally love the elbow as they are lunging in but it’s whatever suits at that time and whatever you have practiced. Hope this advice goes well with you IZZY.”

Darren Till Roasts Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal Boxing Match: ‘Fluffy Hands, Not A Lot Of Power, In No Fit Physical Shape…’

This past weekend was a big one for former UFC stars making their way into the boxing world as Saturday night’s major contest saw Nate Diaz take on Jorge Masvidal inside the ring.

On the same night, former UFC title challenger Darren Till also stepped through the ropes for the first time when making his long awaited return to competition at Social Knockout 3.

Whilst he took this fight just to try and stay active after his bout on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fell off, Till hopes to mix it up with the big names in this scene in the near future.

With both Masvidal and Diaz being potential opponents for him inside the ring, he was sure to have a keen eye on their rematch that went down in California

Darren Till Not Impressed By What He Saw From Nate Diaz & Jorge Masvidal

The general consensus seemed to be that the boxing clash between Masvidal and Diaz ended up being a better watch that some may have expected.

Till didn’t see the fight that way, however, as he outlined during his appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

“The Gorilla” wasn’t particularly impressed by what he saw from either man but didn’t want to discredit them too much due to the respect he has for them both.

“I wasn’t impressed mate. Just like, fluffy hands, just not a lot of power, both looked like they wasn’t in no fit physical shape. But as I say, Masvidal, I fought and he beat me fair and square. Diaz, I don’t ever like to diss Diaz too much, I’ve always been a fan since a kid. I think he’s a f****** G of the sport, he’s one of your real ones. Whether you want it in the ring or outside, he’s that guy and that’s what I respect.”

Till, meanwhile, emerged victorious in bizarre fashion after his opponent claimed to be unable to continue following a shot to the back of the head.

After a brawl between the pair was split up, the Liverpool native was awarded the victory by way of TKO, marking his first combat sports win since 2019.

Darren Till may have scored a win in his return to combat sports action, but the ultimate result was a disaster inside the ring.

Till took on Moh Mutie in the featured contest of Social Knockout 3 in Dubai, UAE. During the fight, Mutie turned his head, with the former UFC fighter landing a light strike to the back of the head.

While this would normally be considered an illegal strike, Till was declared the winner by TKO after Mutie was left apparently unable to continue, claiming to feel dizzy after the punch.

But the action did not stop there, as the pair got into a brawl following the fight ending, with both teams getting involved.

Till had been originally scheduled to return in a bout with Julio César Chávez Jr. on July 20 at the originally scheduled Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card before the main event was delayed.

Till had been out of action since losing to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282 in December 2022. He exited the UFC last February after requesting his release to pursue other ventures.

Till’s opponent, Mutie, is a Middle Eastern MMA fighter known as “The Palestinian Gorilla” with an MMA record of 2-2-1.
