Nate Diaz Rips Into Dustin Poirier Over Pulled Fight

Nate Diaz recently unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against Dustin Poirier and Daniel Cormier during an appearance on the This Past Weekend podcast. The former UFC lightweight contender held nothing back in his criticism of both fighters.

Diaz directed his initial ire toward Poirier, who was scheduled to fight him at UFC 230 in November 2018 before withdrawing due to injury. The Stockton native mocked Poirier’s explanation for missing their bout.

“He had p*ssy surgery when we were supposed to fight,” Diaz said. “There’s a video of it… Penis being removed. He had penis-removal surgery, so we didn’t get to fight. Let’s make fun of him a little bit. Louisiana-ass, p*ssy boy. He quit his job and then was like, ‘I want to box Nate in a thing.’ I’m like, ‘Why’d you quit too early, stupid?’ He’s emotional.”

When podcast host Theo Von attempted to defend ‘The Diamond’, Diaz partially walked back his comments.

“I’m kidding,” Diaz said. “He’s done good. He can’t fight. I’m kidding, I’m just giving you shit.”

Nate Diaz Goes Off On Daniel Cormier Over Analyst Role

The Stockton native then shifted his focus to Cormier, expressing frustration with fighters who transition into analyst roles and criticize active competitors. The former two-division UFC champion became a primary target.

“Then what they do is they go out and give criticism to a fighter like an analyst, I’m like, you were never even a fighter, if that’s what you do,” Diaz said. “You’re a b*tch. And you’re going to f*cking analyze and talk about how fighters are and what they should do? And you know it all? You know it all? Well, what the f*ck happened in your career then? Why are you an analyst now, Mr. Know-It-All?”

Diaz continued his rant as he questioned why Cormier would criticize other fighters given his own career trajectory.

“Why are you Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson and the best of the best? Talking negative about what I should do when I made more money than you ever made in your whole career at any fight, Mr. Champion,” he said.

The criticism appears misguided, considering Cormier won UFC titles at heavyweight and light heavyweight and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s Modern Wing in 2022. Cormier lost only to Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic during his career.

    Financial Success Over Championship Status

Diaz claimed he witnessed only one Cormier fight in person, referencing what appears to be the first Miocic bout at UFC 241.

“I’ve never seen a single DC fight in my career except for when I was on the same card as him one time and he was picking up the dude and walking around like he was just owned him like he was hella tight, like damn he’s schooling that dude,” Diaz said. “Then I looked back at the screen and he was knocked out on his ass.”

He then questioned whether Cormier’s criticism stems from financial jealousy.

“Are you mad because you were the champion and like when I was nowhere near champion I got paid way more money than you? That’s a f*cking bitter little b*tch who’s analyzing fights,” Diaz said.

Diaz also referenced Cormier’s emotional response following his knockout loss to Jones at UFC 214, a result later overturned to a no-contest after Jones tested positive for banned substances.

“You’re a great wrestler, DC, but you can’t fight for shit,” Diaz said. “You win fights, but you’re a f*cking big old p*ssy. Remember he cried? He got knocked out by Jon and he cried.”

Despite the harsh words, Diaz’s comments appeared at least partially tongue-in-cheek. He acknowledged that his targets benefit from the attention.

“I’m just saying they’re putting themselves in a position to be roasted,” Diaz said. “The bad part about it is they get the favor of me talking and roasting on them and that’s what they wanted me to do. So I take it back, DC, you’re cool. You’re the man.”

Diaz is set to face former UFC fighter Mike Perry on May 16th on a Most Valuable Promotions card.

  • Dustin Poirier Pitches Next Opponent For ‘Real Deal’ Paddy Pimblett After UFC 314

Dustin Poirier Pitches Next Opponent For ‘Real Deal’ Paddy Pimblett After UFC 314

UFC lightweight veteran Dustin Poirier has an idea in mind for Paddy Pimblett’s next test inside the Octagon.

Pimblett continued his charge up the 155-pound ladder at this past weekend’s UFC 314 pay-per-view, which he co-headlined against Michael Chandler inside Miami’s Kaseya Center.

“The Baddy” made a statement by laying a devastating beating on “Iron Mike” in the third round to secure a TKO stoppage, extending his undefeated UFC record in the process.

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, Poirier praised Paddy Pimblett’s performance in “The Magic City” and pondered what could come next for him in the stacked lightweight division.

“He’s legit,” Poirier said. “How can I deny him any more? Chandler’s a tough guy. I don’t think Chandler looked great. … I definitely think Chandler didn’t look great, but not taking away from Paddy’s performance. Paddy went out there, dropped the first round, came out confident and hit Chandler with good shots. Then he took him down. Who would’ve have had that on their bingo card that Paddy is going to take down Chandler to the mat like that and get on top of him and dominate him like that. Paddy’s the real deal.

“The guy was a prospect. Now he’s a contender,” Poirier continued. “You have to take him for real now. Not that Chandler wasn’t a big fight, but his next fight has to be a really big one. Like a (Mateusz) Gamrot, Arman (Tsarukyan), (Charles) Oliveira. … For me as a fan, put him in there with Dan Hooker. That would be an incredible fight. That’s a fun fight. The build up is going to be fun. Dan is going to stand and trade with him. Dan has good takedown defense, on the ground. That’s the fight, I think.”

Dan Hooker is coming off a split decision victory over Mateusz Gamrot in Australia last September. He was scheduled to battle Justin Gaethje at UFC 313 last month but had to withdraw due to injury.

  • Dustin Poirier Backs Ilia Topuria For ‘Right Off The Bat’ Title Shot Against Islam Makhachev

Dustin Poirier Backs Ilia Topuria For ‘Right Off The Bat’ Title Shot Against Islam Makhachev

Dustin Poirier is all in on the idea of Ilia Topuria stepping straight into a title fight against reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev.

Last week, UFC CEO Dana White announced that Topuria is vacating the featherweight title to pursue greatness in the lightweight division, aiming to cement his legacy as a two-division UFC champion.

As a result, former champion Alexander Volkanovski is set to clash with Diego Lopes for the vacant 145-pound title in the main event of UFC 314 this April.

According to White, “El Matador” opted to move up a weight class, believing he had already accomplished enough at featherweight while also facing an increasingly grueling cut to the 145-pound limit.

During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Poirier spoke highly of Topuria’s bold decision to relinquish his UFC featherweight championship.

“I mean, it’s respectful,” Poirier said. “It’s honorable to vacate the belt, to not hold up the division where guys have been working so hard to get their shot at the title. He’s doing it the right way. I’ve never seen him in person, but everybody says he’s heavy, that he walks around heavy, but if he can make 145, I don’t know how big he is because some of these lightweights are huge.”

Following White’s announcement regarding Topuria, there has been plenty of discussion among MMA fans and analysts about whether the undefeated Spaniard should receive a fast-tracked title shot against Makhachev.

While some support the idea, others — including Makhachev’s manager, Rizvan Magomedov — believe he should first face top contenders like Poirier, Charles Oliveira, or Justin Gaethje to earn his shot at the belt.

However, “The Diamond” sees no need for Topuria to prove himself further, arguing that his knockout victory over current BMF champion Max Holloway speaks for itself.

“That’s tough to say, especially with all of the contenders, with how the lightweight division’s been over the last few years. But with a guy like him, vacating the belt and moving up, finishing Max Holloway the way that he did, I would give him a crack at the lightweight title right off the bat.”

“El Matador” boasts a flawless 16-0 professional record, with eight wins by submission and six by knockout. He claimed the 145-pound title in dominant fashion, finishing Volkanovski at UFC 298, before successfully defending it with another knockout victory over Holloway at UFC 308 last year.

  • Dana White Likes Dustin Poirier’s 4-Man BMF Title Tournament Idea

Dustin Poirier has proposed an exciting idea for a four-man tournament to compete for the BMF title, and UFC President Dana White seems intrigued.

The belt has not changed hands since Max Holloway’s iconic knockout of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in April. Poirier, who lost to Gaethje via knockout in their BMF title fight at UFC 291, is eager for another shot at the title.

With his career winding down, Poirier pitched the tournament involving himself, Gaethje, Holloway, and Dan Hooker—fighters with whom he has a rich history. Poirier has split fights with Gaethje and holds wins over both Holloway and Hooker.

White addressed Poirier’s idea at the Dana White’s Contender Series 75 post-fight news conference.

“Sounds fun. Never thought about it, but yeah, I love it.”

    – Dana White

Poirier scored a knockout win over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 before being submitted by lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 302.
