VIDEO: Iwo Baraniewski Knocks Out Ibo Aslan In Short But Wild Brawl During UFC 323 Prelims

Prelims, short fight, and UFC’s last pay-per-view event on ESPN be damned — Iwo Baraniewski and Ibo Aslan delivered in a big way during their prelim at UFC 323, delivering a short but epic banger.

For about 90 seconds, the two had quite the slugfest where each felt the other man’s power. Both men traded flurries, with Baraniewski initially dropping Aslan before Aslan rocked him near the fence.

Aslan tried to bully Baraniewski, but Baraniewski made him pay with a right hand that put him out cold to finish the fight.

This marked Baraniewski’s debut in the Octagon following his 20-second knockout of Mahamed Aly during his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in September. He is 7-0 in professional MMA.

After winning two straight in the UFC following his own DWCS appearance, Aslan has now dropped three in a row.

“Cut Them Both” – Fans Rip Apart Billy Elekana And Ibo Aslan’s Uninspiring UFC Abu Dhabi Bout

Fans tuning into the preliminary card of UFC Abu Dhabi expecting a great fight were let down in a major way by Ibo Aslan and Billy Elekana, both of whom put on a lackluster effort as Elekana scored a decision victory.

The fight started cautiously, with both men trading low kicks. Elekana was more on a front foot than his opponent, though neither man landed anything significant.

The inactivity continued into the second round, with more feints, glancing kicks, and misses on strikes. Elekana had the advantage again, if only because of his front kicks and grappling pressure — though his takedown attempts were for naught.

Aslan landed low kicks late in the third, but Elekana landed a left hand that busted Aslan open, briefly wobbling him. Still, neither man showed any sense of urgency, including Elekana failing to follow-up on the wobble.

Two judges scored the bout for Elekana 30-27, while the other scored it 29-28 in his favor.

Elekana dropped his UFC debut at UFC 311 in January, getting submitted by Bogdan Guskov.

Aslan won his first two fights in the UFC but has now lost two straight, coming into this fight off a submission loss to Ion Cutelaba in February.

Watch ‘The Hulk’ Ion Cuțelaba Light Up UFC Seattle With +2000 Finish

For the first time in his UFC tenure, Ion Cuțelaba has scored a submission, defeating Ibo Aslan in the featured preliminary bout at UFC Seattle.

Cuțelaba and Aslan got right into things early, swinging away and trading hard blows throughout the fight’s opening minute. Though each landed hard on one another, the Moldovan changed strategy and looked to bring the fight to the ground.

This plan proved successful, as “The Hulk” was able to lock up an arm-triangle and score a tap in just under three minutes.

Ion Cuțelaba Scores Submission Win In Under Three Minutes At UFC Seattle

A victory via submission for Cuțelaba was unexpected, as his last one came against Vitali Ontishchenko in April 2015 — two fights prior to his UFC debut.

The Moldovan standout winning via submission came in at +1100. A first-round submission win for “The Hulk,” in fact, had odds of +2000.

Cuțelaba has now won three of his last four, bouncing back from a three-fight losing skid he suffered in 2022.

Aslan, meanwhile, suffers the second loss of his professional career. He earned a UFC contract through a win over Paulo Renato Jr. on Dana White’s Contender Series and scored finishes of Anton Turkalj and Raffael Cerqueira prior to tonight’s loss.
