“Nearly Ripped This Dude’s Head Off” – Fans & Fighters React As Jimmy Crute Gets Back To Consecutive Wins, Submitting Ivan Erslan At UFC Perth

In front of a native Australian crowd, Jimmy Crute looked impressive in the UFC Perth co-main event, finishing Ivan Erslan.

After some leg kick exchanging, Erslan seemed to trouble Crute with powerful punching. Crute, however, was able to work his way to a grappling advantage, keeping a hold of Erslan near the fence. Crute worked his way into a backpack position and threatened a choke, rolling through an Erslan transition attempt to get into mount.

Crute would get under the chin and squeeze, scoring another first-round submission.

After a period of over four years without a UFC win, Jimmy Crute now has won two straight. He submitted Marcin Prachnio at UFC 318 in July, which marked his first win since knocking out Modestas Bukauskas in October 2020.

Erslan now falls to 0-3 in the Octagon, losing his first two UFC bouts to Ion Cutelaba and Navajo Stirling.

“Not On My 2025 MMA Bingo Card” – Fans & Fighters React As Jimmy Crute Earns First Win In Five Years With First-Round Armbar At UFC 318

It has been a long time since a Jimmy Crute victory could be celebrated, but Crute has secured his first win in the UFC since 2020 after pulling off a win over Marcin Prachino at UFC 318.

Crute brought pressure from the get-go, focusing on his right hand, while countering Prachino’s kick-based offense. Crute pushed for the takedown and managed to get the fight to the ground with a hip toss.

Crute couldn’t lock up a choke the first go around; however, he managed to get the fight back to the ground and, like a ground-game master, performed a skilled transition to secure an armbar. Prachino tried to wriggle free but was ultimately forced to tap in the first.

Crute was 0-3-2 in the UFC since his last victory — which came against Modestas Bukauskas in October 2020.

Prachino has now lost four of his last six.

  • Jimmy Crute To Miss Rest Of 2022 Due To Knee Reconstruction

UFC light heavyweight Jimmy Crute’s 2022 in the cage will end before it even began due to a necessary knee reconstruction operation.

Crute announced the news on his Instagram page.

“Absolutely gutted to announce that I will be out for the rest of the year,” Crute said. “I need a knee [reconstruction]. I have been putting this off for years but I have sustained too much damage over the last few fights and it has finally come to the point that if I don’t get it fixed it could turn into a career ending injury. I am obviously very disappointed but at the same time a challenge like this is also exciting. It gives me 9+ months to work on other aspects of training and life and come back 100% refreshed and injury free. Thank you all for the continued support. I’m not going anywhere and the Bendigo express is still in full motion.”

Crute has lost back-to-back fights to Anthony Smith and Jamahal Hill over the past year. His loss to Smith at UFC 261 was due to a doctor’s stoppage after injuring his left leg. It’s unclear if the reconstruction is on the same leg that Crute injured.

Crute’s loss to Hill at UFC Vegas 44 came by knockout in just 48 seconds.

Crute had once been touted as one of the top light heavyweight prospects in the UFC following wins over the likes of Michal Oleksiejczuk and Paul Craig. He earned a shot in the promotion after an impressive first-round knockout over Chris Birchler on Dana White’s Contender Series.

For now, Crute will look ahead to 2023 and work to bounce back in a big way in the Octagon. At 25 years old, he has plenty of time to get back on track in his UFC career.
