Plans for a crossover exhibition between Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have been pushed back after an unexpected setback in training.
The bout, which had originally been targeted for the spring with dates like April 25 and May 30 previously floated, is now expected to take place later this year. Promoters confirmed that the delay comes after Tyson suffered a hand injury while preparing for the contest.
ā¼ļø CSI Sports confirms Mike Tyson vs Floyd Mayweather is now pushed to Fall 2026 after Tysonās hand injury forced the event to move from spring to later in the year š„š¤ pic.twitter.com/RgQL8b7899
The former heavyweight champion had been seen wearing a cast on his right arm earlier this year, initially downplaying the issue as a minor problem.
āTraining, punching stuff. Just a little sprain, I have to go hard, itās the only way Iāve got to go,ā Tyson said during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.
However, it has since been clarified that the injury was more serious than first suggested, ultimately forcing organizers to postpone the event until the fall. While no official date or venue has been locked in yet, promoters have indicated that updated details will be announced soon.
The exhibition itself has already experienced a complicated build, with shifting locations and timelines since it was first revealed. At one point, the fight was linked to a card in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, though those plans never materialized.
Adding another layer of uncertainty is Mayweatherās own schedule. The undefeated boxing legend is currently expected to face Manny Pacquiao in a professional rematch later this year in Las Vegas, which could impact the eventual timing of the exhibition.
Just when fans thought nothing could top the crazy world of combat sports, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are set to face off in the ring.
On Thursday, CSI Sports revealed that two boxing legends are set to square off in an exhibition bout in spring 2026, with the date and venue yet to be finalized.
In a press release (via MMA Fighting), “Iron Mike” stressed the unprecedented and unpredictable nature of the matchup, emphasizing that both boxers are fully committed despite the risks.
“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather,ā Mike Tyson stated. āI thought, āNo way this happens,ā but, Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictableāand this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still canāt believe Floyd wants to really do this. Itās going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so itās signed and itās happening!ā
Meanwhile, “Money” emphasized that the exhibition fight will be a major fan-pleasing spectacle.
“Iāve been doing this for 30 years and there hasnāt been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,ā said Mayweather. āYou already know that if I am going to do something, itās going to be big and itās going to be legendary. Iām the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.ā
When Did Mike Tyson And Floyd Mayweather Last Compete In The Ring?
The 59-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion, who initially hung up his gloves after a loss to Kevin McBride in June 2005, boasts a professional record of 50-7 and two no-contests, with 44 victories coming by knockout.
Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather last stepped into the ring in August 2024, going the distance in an eight-round exhibition against John Gotti III.
āMoneyā retired from professional competition in August 2017 after defeating former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor via TKO. The former multi-weight champion retired undefeated with a flawless 50-0 record, including 27 victories by knockout.

Undefeated UFC featherweight Lerone Murphy has explained why Mike Tyson has always been a big inspiration of his.
On Saturday night, Lerone Murphy will attempt to make his case for a shot at the UFC featherweight championship. He’ll do this by trying to defeat Aaron Pico, who has a lot of hype behind him after making the move over from the Bellator-PFL brand. Of course, while Murphy may be unbeaten, this isn’t exactly going to be a walk in the park for him.
For Lerone Murphy, it’s about proving a point. He isn’t the most thrilling fighter in the division when it comes to picking up stoppage wins, but so long as he can keep grinding out victories, it’ll be hard to deny that he deserves a shot at the belt.
In a recent interview with Card Player, Lerone Murphy spoke candidly about why he sees Mike Tyson as an inspiration in his career.
Lerone Murphy reveals Mike Tyson as his inspiration
āMy inspiration has always been Mike Tyson, just because I believe he had a similar upbringing as me, around the same stuff. And then turned his life around, went into fighting early and just smashed it and he was just himself. I’ve read his book and I’ve watched all his podcasts. That’s somebody that inspired me the most in terms of combat sports. He also had a crazy mindset that I relate to.ā
Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz has questioned the validity of the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
Just a matter of months ago, Mike Tyson came out of retirement for a boxing match against none other than Jake Paul. On paper, that would’ve seemed like a crazy idea less than a decade ago – but we live in strange times. Influencer boxing has become quite the thing over the years off the back of Paul, KSI and, originally, Joe Weller.
In the present day, everyone is pretty annoyed about what went down between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ was able to pick up the victory but given Mike’s age and general health, it wasn’t considered particularly legitimate. Some people even speculated that it could’ve been staged, with Tyson being paid to lose to Paul, holding back from showing the kind of true power that he once had in his prime.
That includes Tito Ortiz, who had the following to say about Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul in a recent interview.
Tito Ortizās view on Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul
āI was kind of bummed. I wanted Tyson to knock out Jake Paul. And I saw him pull some punches. I’m not saying that it was fixed, but I questioned a lot of it. I thought Tyson had a lot more.ā
Will any kind of fight like this ever happen again? If Jake Paul has anything to say about it, then the answer is probably going to be yes.
Mike Tyson makes history with wins of losses. On February 11, 1990, the boxing world learned a lesson it would never forget: never assume the ending before the bell rings. The stage was set in Tokyo, where Mike Tyson, the undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion, was expected to breeze through another challenger. Buster Douglas, meanwhile, was cast as the designated fall guy – so much so that Las Vegas bookmakers gave him 42-to-1 odds.
Buster Douglas and Mike Tyson
Some casinos didnāt even bother to take bets on Tyson, figuring it would be easier to sell ice to penguins. Mike Tysonās reputation at the time was nearly mythic. He had knocked out his first 19 opponents, most of them before the crowd even had time to settle in. The world waited for another quick demolition, and Tysonās next big payday against Evander Holyfield was already being penciled in.
Douglas, by contrast, was seen as a warm-up act – a solid pro, but not the sort who rewrites history. But boxing, like life, has a way of ignoring the script. Douglas entered the ring carrying the weight of his motherās recent passing. Some say that loss gave him a new sense of purpose. Whatever the reason, he fought with a determination that surprised everyone – except maybe himself.
The fight itself was a slow burn. Douglas was knocked down in the eighth round but got up, dusted himself off, and went back to work. By the tenth, he had Tyson reeling. A crisp uppercut and a flurry of punches sent the āBaddest Man on the Planetā to the canvas for the first time in his career. Mike Tyson, dazed, fumbled for his mouthpiece as the referee counted him out. The Tokyo Dome crowd of 40,000 sat in stunned silence. Around the world, jaws dropped.Commentators and fans struggled to process what theyād seen.

HBOās Jim Lampley, recalling the moment years later, said he delivered the news as plainly as possible: āMike Tyson has been knocked out.ā No need for theatrics – reality had already done the heavy lifting. In an interview with Joe Rogan, Lampley recalled:
āThe very first live fight I ever attended was the biggest upset in boxing history. And now here in front of me, 12, 14 feet away, is the result that’s going to supplant that as the biggest upset in boxing history. Mike Tyson has been knocked out. In about that tone of voice. I wanted to make it as matter-of-fact as possible because there was nothing I could do to elevate it by screaming or shouting… It was what it was. Right. Mike Tyson has been knocked out.ā
Even Tyson, with the benefit of hindsight, admitted that Douglas was simply better that night and that the loss āmade me human.āIn the end, Douglasās victory shook up boxing and the entire sports world.
The boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson may have broken viewership records after being streamed live on Netflix but that doesn’t mean that every audience member came away satisfied. It was always going to be a controversial bout from the moment that it was announced due to the huge age gap between the two men.
One of the latest icons to voice his displeasure is MMA pioneer and UFC legend, Don Frye. The 59-year old is known for putting on some classic fights during the early days of the sport including the iconic battle he had with Yoshihiro Takayama in PRIDE which won fight of the year 23 years ago.
A lot has changed since Frye was at his peak and it’s not surprising in the slightest that he didn’t enjoy the time that he spent in the company of the most talked about fight of 2024. He gave his thoughts on the fight and revealed how he attempted to wash it down with an immediate palette cleanser during a recent video on the YouTube channel of his former UFC and PRIDE opponent, Gary Goodridge.
“That made me want to vomit. I was so disgusted with that. I had to go home and put in Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Jake Lamotta, Rocky Marciano. [I] had to watch some real fighters. If I didn’t do that, I’d never watch another boxing match again. That was a fraud.”
The high profile Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson clash has set new benchmarks, even as it faced relentless scrutiny from critics.
Last Friday, “The Problem Child” squared off against the legendary heavyweight boxer in an eight-round showdown at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event proved to be a staggering success, boasting a record-breaking gate and reportedly becoming the most-watched combat sports spectacle of 2024.
The main event, where Paul secured a unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old Tyson, paired with a historic co-main event that saw Katie Taylor narrowly defeat Amanda Serrano in a contentious split decision, now holds the record for the largest revenue-generating fight night outside Las Vegas in U.S. history.
As per Most Valuable Promotions, over 72,300 fans packed the arena for the Paul vs. Tyson showdown, generating a staggering $18,117,072 in total revenue. This impressive feat secured its place as the ninth-highest combat sports gate of all time and set a new benchmark as the highest-grossing event at AT&T Stadium.
On Tuesday, Netflix announced that the Paul vs. Tyson showdown attracted over 108 million viewers on the streaming platform, despite encountering significant technical disruptions. Meanwhile, the co-main event became the most-watched professional womenās sports event in U.S. history, with an average minute audience of 47 million and an estimated 74 million live viewers worldwide.

The main event reached a peak of 65 million simultaneous streams, setting a new record for the most-streamed sports event worldwide, with 38 million of those streams coming from the U.S. alone.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer repeatedly emphasized the immense draw of his showdown with the return of “Iron Mike,” especially after Netflix came on board as the exclusive streaming partner for the event.
Breaking away from the traditional pay-per-view model, the fight card was made available to Netflix subscribers at no additional cost.
Mike Tyson has come out with his first remarks since losing to Jake Paul in the main event of their card at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas less than 24 hours ago.
“Iron Mike” was not knocked down during the fight but was significantly slow and tired as the fight went on. The 58-year-old, who was competing in his first sanctioned professional boxing outing since 2005, lost to the younger Paul brother via unanimous decision.
That said, in his statement released on social media, the heavyweight great expressed having no regrets for entering the ring at his age.
Tyson, in fact, considered his performance a moral victory, given the circumstances of his health from this past summer. On May 31, Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up on an airplane. The former champion revealed in the statement that he almost died, having had multiple blood transfusions and losing about 25 pounds.
This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. Iām grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.
I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.
Mike Tyson Releases Statement Declaring Victory In Defeat
“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for,” Tyson said in the statement.
Tyson came out strong on the front foot in the opening round, bringing out that aggressive style he was known for over the course of his career.
But “Iron Mike” slowed from the second round on, as Paul worked him over with combinations and landed at will. Though the heavyweight legend showed defense, he had landed less than 20 punches by the time the final round came.
Paul, during the event’s post-fight press conference, said he carried the veteran when he realized midway through the fight how drained he appeared, stating he “didn’t want to hurt someone that wasn’t able to do much.”
Paul responded to Tyson’s statement, praising him for his legendary status in the sport and thanking him for the opportunity to fight.
Love you Mike. It was an honor. Youāre an inspiration to us all.
Those who believed Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson would be the same old song and dance as other Jake Paul spectacles in the ring proved to be correct.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer defeated Tyson in a one-sided decision in the main event of a card at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Tyson, in his vintage style, came out aggressive, looking to chase down the 27-year-old and flashing his power with his initial shots. Paul tried to clinch up more than once in the round, landing a key right hand.
“El Gallo,” however, started to get into a groove over the next few rounds, working Tyson over with combinations. Paul became the fighter on the front foot when Tyson slowed down as the minutes went on. While “Iron Mike” tried to increase his pace, his younger opponent was simply faster and landed at will.
Tyson seemed to pick things up in the seventh round, but by this point, had landed just 16 punches. And he did nothing in the eighth round to change the tide, as Paul ended up pulling off a near complete sweep on the scorecards to win a unanimous decision.
Fighters & Fans React As Jake Paul Easily Defeats Mike Tyson
Credit to Jake Paul + Mike Tyson for pulling off one of the great cons of century. I shoulda put 10 million on Jake. Not cause he's good but cause he fought a senior citizen. I would say everybody involved should be ashamed but I'd take the money it too if I could. #TysonPaul
The fight was originally scheduled to take place in July, but the bout was postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up on a flight.
“The Problem Child” instead face Mike Perry, defeating the bare-knuckle champion via sixth-round knockout. That was the Cleveland native’s fourth straight win since suffering the lone loss of his boxing career against Tommy Fury.
Meanwhile, Friday’s results marked Tyson’s first professional boxing match since his loss to Kevin McBride in 2005. Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. fought in an exhibition bout in November 2020.
The pairās eight-round professional heavyweight contest was tasked with headlining the very first combat sports event to be streamed live on the Netflix platform, which also staged the championship rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
After a blockbuster co-headliner, Paul outpointed Tyson in a lackluster main event, which saw 58-year-old “Iron Mike” land just 18 times across the 24-minute distance.

Jake Paul is just days away from facing off against Mike Tyson this Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The highly anticipated fight will air live exclusively on Netflix.
Tyson initially retired from boxing in 2005 after a loss to Kevin McBride, in which he failed to answer the bell for the seventh round. Now, heās stepping back into the ring for his first professional bout in 19 years.
Paul has boldly predicted a knockout victory over the legendary boxer, though he acknowledges it might be a “bittersweet” achievement. “When it happens, itās going to be a little bittersweet because I have love for him, but at the current moment, weāre meant to go to war,” Paul said. “Heās trying to take the food off my plate, and Iām trying to take the food off of his plateāthatās what warriors do.”
Reflecting on the significance of the fight, Paul sees it as the culmination of his 12-year career across entertainment and now boxing. “I dreamed this, manifested it, and this fight will mark the start of my career in boxing. This is my moment to shine, and Iām going to show the world who I am,” Paul continued.
āEveryoneās doubted me. Everyoneās had something to say. Nothing was ever given to me; Iāve had to work for it all. Iāve been kicked off YouTube, kicked off platforms, canceled five times, and here I am, throwing the biggest event in entertainment. Now, this moment proves to the world what hard work and perseverance can do. Iām just happy to show that to other kids who may face adversity and need to keep proving themselves.”
As a pro, he has goneĀ 10-1Ā with seven knockouts against opponents. Many of those wins have come over YouTubers and former MMA fighters.
Mike Tyson has experienced both the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in the world of boxing. Despite his setbacks, he remains one of the sport’s most popular and enduring stars.
Now, at 58 years old, Tyson is set to add another chapter to his legendary career. He initially retired from boxing in 2005 after a loss to Kevin McBride, in which he failed to answer the bell in the seventh round.
Next Saturday night, Tyson will step into the ring for his first professional boxing bout in 19 years, facing influencer boxer Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight will air live exclusively on Netflix.
In a recent conversation with fellow boxing legend Andre Ward on The Art of Ward podcast, Tyson reflected on his struggles and hardships.
āI donāt wish that on no one,ā Tyson said. āI donāt wish that, no. I donāt wish my life on no one. As a whole. I wanted it all. I wanted to be the biggest fighter in the history of life. Thatās what [Tysonās former coach and mentor] Cus [DāAmato] put in my mind. How do I know to say those words, he put that in my mind.ā
Tyson has faced profound personal challenges throughout his life. In addition to his own struggles, he endured the tragic loss of his four-year-old daughter in a home accident in 2009. Yet, despite these hardships, Tyson has continued to move forward.
Jake Paul recently issued an audacious $5 million challenge to Mike Tyson ahead of their highly anticipated boxing clash.
“The Problem Child” is preparing to face off against Tyson in an eight-round heavyweight contest set for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Originally scheduled for July 20, the fight was postponed after “Iron Mike” experienced an ulcer flare-up in May.

Ever since the fight was announced earlier this year, the matchup has been met with widespread skepticism, largely due to the substantial 31-year age gap between Paul and Tyson. Despite the doubts, the boxing icon has repeatedly assured fans that he’s in top form and more than ready to step back into the ring.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion hung up his gloves after facing Kevin McBride in June 2005. However, Tyson returned to the squared circle in November 2022 for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which concluded in a draw.
Meanwhile, Paul is riding high on the momentum of a sixth-round knockout victory over Mike Perry in July. Currently on a four-fight winning streak, he has only tasted defeat once, falling to Tommy Fury via split decision in February 2023. “The Problem Child” has made a name for himself by toppling former MMA stars, including Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.
With just a month remaining until their matchup, Paul has thrown out an intriguing proposition for “Iron Mike” that could earn him an extra hefty payday.
Paul Offers $5M If Tyson Lasts Beyond Round 4
In a TikTok video earlier this week, Paul raised the stakes for his upcoming bout with Tyson, offering a lucrative $5 million bonus if the boxing legend can withstand his barrage past the fourth round. However, the YouTuber-turned-boxer added a playful twistāshould ‘Iron Mike’ fail, he’ll have to get a tattoo that reads, “I Love Jake Paul.”
“Mikey Mikey, if you can last more than four rounds with me, Iāll give you an extra $5 million,” Paul said in the video. “But if you donāt, then you have to get a tattoo that says, ‘I Love Jake Paul.’”
Paulās tattoo challenge isn’t exactly a new tactic. After his victory over Woodley in August 2021, the former UFC welterweight champion demanded an immediate rematch. “The Problem Child” agreed, but only on one condition: if he triumphed again, Woodley would have to get an “I Love Jake Paul” tattoo.
True to his word, after Paul knocked him out, “The Chosen One” followed through and inked the tattoo on the inside of his middle finger.
Given the stature that both men bring to the table, getting the opportunity to share the ring with either of them is a huge opportunity for other fighters.
One man that wants a piece of that action is MMA legend Vitor Belfort.
After retiring from competing in the UFC back in 2018, Belfort has made the move over to boxing where he has had several bouts since. But despite being 47 years old, he believes that big name opponents still aren’t willing to fight him.
Vitor Belfort Says That He Wants Either Paul Or Tyson But It Probably Won’t Happen
The Brazilian legend has won both of his boxing contests since hanging up the MMA gloves, beating Evander Holyfield in an exhibition and fellow former UFC fighter Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
In a recent interview with Inside Fighting, he claimed that though he would be open to the idea of stepping in against Paul or Tyson, it’s not likely to happen.
It makes sense on his end but Belfort doesn’t believe that either man is willing to risk fighting him because of their own legacies.
“I would love to do it but both guys didn’t want to fight me for sure but I would love to fight the winner. I just wish they can have a great fight but they don’t have the courage to bring that fight [to me]. I think that would be a great fight to put together but I think none of them wanted to risk their – how they can call – career or their legacy.
“I’m in a stage of my life where for me to step up and fight someone, has to make sense for me, for the fans. I think the fans would love to see that but at the end of the day, Jake Paul fights who he wants to fight. He’s making the decision and I mean we’ll see what will be but I mean I can promise you, I think that fight is not going to happen.”
Set to be the first live boxing event streamed on Netflix, the card is sure to draw huge numbers and demand a lot of attention.
The question is whether this will, in turn, bring a lot of negativity to it because of the nature of the match-up.
Regardless of any other health and physical factors, the just over 30-year age gap between them has made a lot of people speak out about their concerns for this fight and whether it should even be going ahead.
Tyson is obviously a legend of the sport even with his experience and power, there’s a good chance that this fight could get ugly, especially once it goes past the first few rounds.
Daniel Cormier Says Jake Paul’s Cardio & Output Concerns Him In Mike Tyson Fight
What the fight looks like past the opening few minutes is something that Daniel Cormier has a big problem with.
The former UFC two-weight world champion spoke during a recent episode of Funky and the Champ about how Paul is surely going to take over, even if the fight starts competitively.
Cormier made reference to how this was the case in his recent fight with Mike Perry where even when “Platinum” was able to survive an early onslaught, “The Problem Child” was able to keep this pace up and put it on his opponent to get the finish.
“DC” also stated how Paul has been accused of taking performance enhancing drugs in the past, which will only widen the gap in athletic ability between the two men.
Like nearly every combat sports fan in the world, Cormier is a big fan of Tyson and doesn’t want to see a scenario where the fight starts to become uncomfortable if Paul starts to pull away due to his conditioning.
“As the fight went longer, Jake Paul draws on this reserve, finishes Mike Perry. Many believe that in that reserve is a few banned things but at the end of the day, it allows for Jake to draw from that and put himself on the path to get a victory. That is my concern, because what if this thing looks like a 58-year-old man fighting a 28-year-old man when Mike can’t draw from that reserve tank to stay and compete with this young kid.”
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson began the hype and path toward their November 15 battle with a press conference in New York City on August 18, held as one of the final events of the three-day Fanatics Fanfest NYC.
Though the press conference began 40 minutes after it was originally scheduled to start, the Javits Center theater was packed to capacity and the crowd was raucous. From the moment Paul entered, he was mercilessly booed and jeered; meanwhile, Tyson received non-stop cheering throughout the event.
The press conference was hosted by Ryan Clark, who discussed the bout which he called the biggest boxing event in the world, bringing together six generations of boxing fans.
Paul discusses why he's taking a chance with this fight after Clark points out that a loss to Tyson could end his career #PaulTysonpic.twitter.com/N6P4fFTgR4
Paul claimed that he was the one who brought the fight’s lucrative Netflix deal to Tyson, claiming that it was Tyson who insisted the fight be sanctioned as it is.
Tyson responded by stating that he’s taken this fight because he can, calling it the best of all time vs. a YouTuber, which resulted in the crowd directing a “YouTuber!” chant at Paul multiple times during the press conference.
Paul vs. Tyson was originally scheduled to go down in July before Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up on a plane.
Paul enters this fight on a four-fight win streak, most recently stopping Mike Perry last month.
This will be Tyson’s first sanctioned pro fight since his loss to Kevin McBride in June 2005, which ultimately served as Tyson’s retirement bout. Tyson battled Roy Jones Jr. to an eight-round draw in an exhibition bout in November 2020.
Michael Bisping recently expressed his reservations about Jake Paul’s ambitions to compete in boxing at the 2028 Olympics.
In the latest episode of his podcast, “The Problem Child” voiced his frustration with the underwhelming performance of American boxers at the Paris Olympics. He stated that the setback has ignited his desire to throw his hat into the ring for the upcoming Summer Games in Los Angeles, United States, four years from now.
“Iām going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles,” Paul said. “Iām sick and tired of waiting around, waiting for another gold for Team U.S.A. ⦠I probably just added a couple more years on to my boxing career because of that, but Los Angeles, United States, sick as f**k.
Paul’s quest for a gold medal is fueled by the fact that the U.S. has not claimed a boxing medal in the heavyweight division since Deontay Wilder secured a bronze in 2008. The last time an American heavyweight struck gold was when Ray Mercer triumphed in 1988 against Tommy Morrison.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has emerged as one of the most prominent figures in the influencer boxing scene, boasting a 10-1 career record, highlighted by a TKO victory over Mike Perry on June 20. However, of his 11 bouts, six have been against opponents with five or fewer professional boxing matches under their belts, including notable retired MMA stars like Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Ben Askren.
Paul usually competes at around 200 pounds, placing him in the heavyweight division should he ever qualify for the Olympics. However, the road ahead will be long and challenging. To even reach the Olympic trials, American boxers must meet six stringent eligibility requirements and secure a top-two finish in a qualifier tournament within an Olympic weight category.
“The Count” insists that making it to the Olympics is no small feat, and Paul wonāt have the advantages he enjoyed under his own banner, Most Valuable Promotions…
Bisping Doubts Paul Can Handle Rigors Of Olympic Boxing Standards
During a recent video on his YouTube channel, Bisping responded to Paulās ambitions of competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics. The former UFC middleweight champion acknowledged the success and fame “The Problem Child” has achieved in his professional boxing career but pointed out that to contend in such elite sporting events, Paul would need to measure up to some of the greatest boxers of all time.
“Fair enough, the man wants to go and compete in the Olympics, and you know what, I’ve actually got a lot of respect for him,” Bisping said. “Jake Paul is kind of doing it the opposite way around because he’s very famous, he’s had a lot of professional boxing fights, and he’s going to go to the amateurs. But the guy that just won the Olympic gold medal has actually had four professional boxing bouts as well. Now, if Jake Paul were to win the Olympics, I mean, that would be incredible, and he would join the likes of the great Muhammad Ali, the GOAT George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Pernell Whitaker, Mark Brelandāthe list goes on and on.”
However, the UFC Hall of Famer went on to highlight that the real test for Paul in competing at the Olympics isnāt just about his skill in the ring. The true challenge will be stepping outside the comfort of his own promotions, enduring the grind of fighting day after day, and managing the rigorous weight cuts required to qualify for the competition.
“For Jake Paul, if you did go and fight in the Olympics, well, first of all, it wouldn’t be his promotion, would it? So he wouldn’t be able to cherry-pick opponents; he wouldn’t be able to take people that are way past their sell-by date, like Mike Tyson. If he goes to the Olympics, a lot of things will change, that’s for sure. Number one, he wouldn’t be able to cut weight because, in the Olympics, you’re going to have to box every few days. It wouldn’t be his promotion, so everything’s not going to be centered around him. There wouldn’t be a massive payday on display; he will be doing it literally to represent his country, to test himself, and potentially to become an Olympic gold medalist.”
Paul is scheduled to take on former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, marking the first-ever combat sports event to stream live on Netflix.
Jake Paul usually leaves no stone unturned to promote fights and his face tattoo, similar to Mike Tyson’s, exemplifies this perfectly. He now has ten professional boxing wins including seven knockouts but has also faced criticism for fighting old MMA stars and/or undersized opponents.
Paul knocked out Mike Perry in the sixth round on July 20, 2024, which was the original date for his match against Tyson. The fight with the boxing legend is now scheduled for November 15, which unsurprisingly is a bone of contention for many.
Paul is adamant about fighting Tyson and they’ve had multiple heated altercations as well. The face tattoo was another tactic used by “The Problem Child” to get under Tyson’s skin, and a brief rundown of how and when Paul got it…
Throwback To When Jake Paul Got A Face Tatto Like Mike Tyson
In March 2024, Paul got a face tattoo that resembles the one Tyson got ahead of the Clifford Etienne fight in February 2003. As per his coach, “Iron Mike” didn’t want to fight and the bout was canceled due to him getting a tattoo a week before the event.
According to Tyson, he originally wanted to get hearts but the artist didn’t approve of it. He ended up with a tribal pattern and tried to get it removed in April 2013.
Paul copied Tyson’s face tattoo for a promotional video. The design was removed later but in a month, he again talked about getting a permanent design in honor of the former heavyweight boxing champ.
“I’m not gonna get the Tyson one but Tyson, like, got his legendary tattoo, he just…So, I’m just like f**k it, like why not just do it cause Tyson did it. The story behind Tyson’s face that is, it was like Wednesday of his fight week. And he just got it. And he showed up to presser the next day with the face tat and he didn’t tell anybody. So I’m thinking about doing that.”
On his socials, Paul proudly flaunts his face tattoo. However, based on the Perry fight, it is safe to assume that getting the tattoo was a temporary move but we might see another one as the November 15 bout approaches.

Chael Sonnen recently lauded Tom Aspinall’s formidable punching power, boldly asserting that the Brit possesses the knockout ability to take down heavyweight boxers against whom even the legendary Mike Tyson struggled.
Aspinall triumphantly retained his interim heavyweight title with a stunning 60-second knockout of his former foe, Curtis Blaydes, avenging his only loss in the Octagon in the co-main event of UFC 304 this past Saturday in Manchester.
The 31-year-old Salford native delivered a powerful right hand that sent “Razor” crashing to the floor, then topped it off with a relentless barrage of punches to the head, prompting referee Marc Goddard to stop the fight.
Sonnen Stunned by Aspinall’s Devastating Punching Power
During a recent video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen weighed in on Aspinall’s victory over Blaydes at UFC 304. “The Bad Guy” noted that while it may not have been the Englishman’s finest performance in the Octagon, his incredible knockout power still managed to shift the momentum decisively in his favor.
“I’m watching Tom, surprised by himself that it wasn’t a perfect fight by Tom,” Sonnen said. “Curtis was actually fundamentally doing some things a little bit better than Tom. And one thing about Tom is these boys he’s putting down, these are the big heavyweights, and I’m talking about size. I’m talking about actually getting on the scale and what they tip the scale at.”
Sonnen went on to say that Aspinall’s punching power is so formidable that he could knock out big heavyweights – something even “Iron Mike” Tyson had trouble with.
“Mike Tyson had a hard time putting down the heavyweights that were 240, 250, 260 [pounds]. These are the guys that Tom is touching one time; this is shocking power. Tom is getting guys out of here so quickly. I don’t love the reality that in three years, Tom has been in the ring for about three minutes, but the other side of it is, what are you going to do? How are you going to stop him?”
“Bones” is expected to defend his title for the first time later this year against Stipe Miocic, a matchup that UFC CEO Dana White is adamant about making a reality.
Mike Perry recently voiced his apprehension about inciting fan outrage if he were to pursue a future boxing match against the legendary, yet much older, Mike Tyson.
Perry is currently slated to fight Jake Paul on July 20 in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Weāre set to fight July 20th , I Promise to give the world the Fight they wanna see ! Gonna put the Platinum pressure on the problem child Live in Tampa, tickets on sale tomorrow at noon ! pic.twitter.com/V3WfZSRKK5
— Platinum Mike Perry (@PlatinumPerry) June 18, 2024
This matchup was announced after Paul’s planned fight against “Iron Mike” on the same date was pushed to November 15 due to the former undisputed heavyweight champion’s health scare.
The upcoming bout against Paul presents a tremendous opportunity for “Platinum” to elevate his profile on a grander stage. Already thriving as a bare-knuckle fighter, Perry is the biggest star in BKFC, boasting impressive victories over notable opponents like Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.
Despite securing the fight due to unexpected circumstances, Perry is eager to compete against Tyson if he secures a win against the YouTuber-turned-boxer on July 20.
However, the former UFC welterweight fighter is cautious of potential public outcry, as many might disapprove of the matchup due to the significant age difference…
Perry Eyes Tyson Fight But Hesitant About Public Reaction
During a recent ESPN MMA interview, Perry was asked if he would consider fighting Tyson next, should he defeat “The Problem Child” and take his spotlight on November 15. “Platinum” eagerly affirmed his desire to face the boxing icon.
“Yes, absolutely. Of course, man, I’m thinking about that. I would definitely do it.”
However, the 32-year-old Michigan native acknowledged that facing Tyson would be the biggest matchup of his career, and he doesn’t want to provoke public backlash unnecessarily. For now, he is concentrating solely on his fight with Paul.
“The comments can be negative already, anyway, so now they’re going to say, ‘Oh, now you’re gonna fight the old guy.’ The internet is undefeated. That’s the one fight I don’t want to have is Mike Perry vs. the internet because I could be the guy to beat the internet, bro. Fighting Mike Tyson would be obviously be cool but I’m just focused on July 20, man. I gotta have tunnel vision, this is my opportunity to show the world.”
“Iron Mike” hasn’t fought professionally since retiring during his bout against Kevin McBride in June 2005. However, Tyson made a comeback in November 2020, stepping into the squared circle for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.
The planned boxing showdown between YouTuber-turned-pugilist Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson won’t be going ahead this summer.
Paul and Tyson were due to do battle at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20, headlining the very first live combat sports event to be broadcast on the Netflix streaming platform.
The bout immediately drew controversy upon its announcement owing to the three-decade age disparity between the former Disney star and the boxing legend, who will be 58 by the time the originally planned fight date rolls around.
That issue, revealed to be ulcer flare-ups, has now caused a postponement.
Netflix took to social media to announce the news, noting that the matchup will be kept together and instead take place toward the end of the year. The venue is expected to remain the same.

“Unfortunately Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will not face-off on July 20 as planned. Tysonās recent ulcer flare up has limited his ability to train fully for the next few weeks. The fight will be rescheduled for a date later this year after Mikeās able to resume training with no limitations and both fighters can have equal time to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup! Stay tuned for the new fight date to be announced by the end of next week.”
The postponement comes after the pair had already completed a brief media tour promoting the now-scrapped summer clash in “The Lone Star State.”
Reacting to the news in a statement posted by his Most Valuable Promotions, Paul backed the decision to delay the match until Tyson is able to resume full training following his health issues.
“I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night,” Paul said. “My fans know I don’t want to face ‘Iron Mike’ at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish. Paul vs Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to bring my best for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup.”
It appears the cancellation will also lead to a delay for the undercard fights, including the planned co-headlining championship rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The latest cause for concern was from a health scare during a flight that was later cleared up with his team saying that he is fine despite becoming nauseous and dizzy before landing.
Tyson echoed this on his own social media account but this recent occurrence doesn’t seem to be an entirely isolated incident or an unexplainable one-off with little significance.
Now feeling 100% even though I donāt need to be to beat Jake Paul.
Chael Sonnen Says Mike Tyson Being In A Wheelchair Isn’t A Concern Ahead Of The Fight
Back when the fight was made official, some people raised a red flag over him needing to use a wheelchair in recent times.
Tyson explained that this was due to him suffering from sciatica, a nerve condition which can cause him to have pain in his legs, making this unrelated to the supposed ulcer flare-up that he suffered from this past weekend whilst heading to Los Angeles.
Though the wheelchair images have resurfaced since this news broke, and surely will come back around before the fight, Chael Sonnen isn’t too worried about them.
“The Bad Guy” is always looking to read between the lines when it comes to fight promotion and the narrative that people want to put out there.
In a recent YouTube video, he spoke about how these old photos are crucial in telling people about this fight.
“Or you could look at it the other way which is Mike Tyson and a mention of his fight with Jake Paul on Netflix would not have been on TMZ Sport today without that. It very much is a perspective of how you are going to handle it. I mean it would be a very very strange and insincere gesture, if you’re in the position of Jake Paul, to wish Mike well and Jake hasn’t done this but it would be a very strange gesture.”
Sonnen went on to say that the main marketing piece for this fight is about how the one attribute Paul has over the boxing legend is his youth.
Therefore by further emphasizing this, it makes the fight more interesting and compelling for potential viewers.
“This is a massive courageous moment by Mike and now you’re just going to add one more level of courage that you, the average man, couldn’t do. Because when you say that Tyson shouldn’t be able to fight in a month, you’re not really talking about Mike cuz you’re not really like Mike. You wouldn’t have any ability to relate.”

He credited the former UFC champ-champ with having the kind of instincts that you simply can’t teach, comparing him to one of the biggest combat sports stars that came before him.
