The third time is the charm for Jackson McVey, as he finally captured his first UFC victory with a submission of Sedriques Dumas during the UFC Vegas 116 prelims.
McVey brought the pressure right away, looking to score a takedown on Dumas. When that didn’t work, he maintained control of the clinch until a low blow forced a separation.
Upon the fight resuming, McVey pressed Dumas to the fence again, this time dropping him with an uppercut. McVey swarmed Dumas with ground-and-pound.
When the fight wasn’t stopped, McVey locked up a D’Arce choke, scoring the submission just over two minutes into the bout.

McVey, an LFA veteran, now improves to 7-2 after arriving in the UFC at 6-0. He dropped his first two Octagon bouts to Brunno Ferreira and Zach Reese last year.
Dumas is now winless in his last four. He is 1-4 (1 NC) in his last six fights.
Zachary Reese vs. Sedriques Dumas barely got started before it was over — and no one in that Noche UFC 3 preliminary card bout came out the winner in the end.
The bout was ruled a no contest after a low blow from Reese that was deemed an accidental foul but left Dumas unable to continue.
Dumas tried to get things going with aggression early, but Reese looked to answer with low kicks. Unfortunately for them, one of those kicks ended up landing hard on Dumas’ groin, putting him down in a world of pain. Despite nearly the full five minutes to recover, Dumas was unable to continue, resulting in the no contest.

Reese had come into this bout with three wins in his last four, most recently scoring a decision over Dusko Todorovic in May.
Dumas, known in the MMA community for his lengthy arrest history, is now winless in three of his last four. He entered tonight off a loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 314.

For “The Reaper”, the stakes extend far beyond the Octagon, as he revealed on social media earlier this week that he’s coming into this fight facing a severe financial crisis, even posting a screenshot (now deleted) showing just $13.96 in his bank account.
According to the 30-year-old Floridaman, he is struggling through a chaotic year marked by family demands, mounting expenses, and legal troubles that almost derailed his career.
“This is a price of being an adult and paying legal actions and stuff in your life,” Dumas wrote. “I hate to hear people say people don’t struggle at a big scene. Yeah all y’all can laugh about it. I’m just giving y’all something to laugh about.”

Dumas has a history of run-ins with the law, and this past April he was reportedly arrested for the 14th time, facing charges of felony home invasion robbery without a firearm, misdemeanor battery, and felony possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, with bond set at a staggering $558,500.
What Record Does Sedriques Dumas Carry Into Noche UFC?
Sedriques Dumas was initially scheduled to face Jackson McVey at UFC 317 this past July, but the bout never materialized after he was fitted with an ankle monitor and restricted to a 100-mile radius due to felony charges from April.
Dumas was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 314 in April, where he fell to Michal Oleksiejczuk via first-round knockout. His most recent victory came in August 2024 at UFC Abu Dhabi, when he earned a unanimous decision win over Denis Tiuliulin.
“The Reaper” secured his UFC contract with a spectacular submission victory over Matej Penaz in August 2022 on Dana White’s Contender Series. Since then, Dumas has gone 3-3 across six Octagon appearances. He is coming into Noche UFC with a professional record of 10-3, with six of those wins coming by way of finishes.
Michal Oleksiejczuk has been looking for a career resurgence, and if his UFC 314 performance will be anything to go by, he may have found it.
In his first fight since joining the Fighting Nerds team, Oleksiejczuk scored a first-round finish of Sedriques Dumas in the featured bout of the early prelims. After dropping three straight, Oleksiejczuk had been looking to reform his style, namely his striking, and reached out to Caio Borralho, having taken an interest in the Fighting Nerds.
That appeared to be on display in this fight, as the Polish fighter targeted the body throughout the short time of the fight. An overhand and elbow rocked Dumas, with a hook dropping him. Oleksiejczuk then followed it up with ground-and-pound until the referee stepped in.

This marks Oleksiejczuk’s first victory since finishing Chidi Njoukani in August 2023. Since then, he had lost to Michel Pereira, Kevin Holland, and Shara Magomedov.
Dumas, a 2022 alumnus of Dana White’s Contender Series, has now lost two of his last three. He had entered the UFC with a perfect 7-0 record and is now 3-3 in the Octagon.
